Joy Formidable, The - Escape Lyrics

Every few thousand years
Come true man's greatest fears
All the living things
Mother nature brings - to tears

When the bombs are bursting in the air
And the rockets are making that red glare
I'm heading down
Down to that good hope town - where the weather's fair

So why don't you come away
With me my love
We'll do what it takes
I'll keep you safe

Why don't you stay by me
And when the time comes
We'll escape

When the big one finally hit's LA
When Yellowstone has it's day
We're heading to the southern tip
On a plane or on a ship
We'll do what it takes - we'll find a way

And if that cloud forms up above
No sign anywhere of a dove
There'll be no reason left to stay
We'll try and live another day
In a place where there's still love

So why don't you come away
With me my love
We'll do what it takes
I'll keep you safe

Why don't you stay by me
And when the time comes
We'll escape

    Effing great cover!

The Joy Formidable dropped a surprise EP last month, and it’s filled with covers of songs by artist including David Bowie and the Misfits. Funnily enough, the strongest cover on it is the one they recorded of this track by KONGOS – a band they are currently on tour with. I haven’t heard the original but I’m pretty sure they’ve done it justice. This is such a delicate and beautiful lullaby, and should be the last thing you listen to before you go to sleep tonight. I can only hope that they play this at the Bacardi NH7 Weekender festival in December. Also, I can’t help but think of The Shins ‘Those to Come’ especially while listening to the guitar part. #punkflop #TrackDrops #theJoyFormidable #TheShins #KONGOS #Nh7Weekender https://trackdrops.com/2016/10/05/escape-kongos-cover-the-joy-formidable/
