Journey - Spaceman Lyrics
Don't be so wise, I was born to fly
Not without a place in the wind
Walked off a cliff, then I closed my eyes
Ooh, I'm not a spaceman, no, no
Ooh, I'm not a spaceman
Don't need no feathers, I don't need no twine,
I'm all together in my body and my mind,
Not supernatural, just a human combine,
Ooh, I'm not a spaceman, no, no
Ooh, I'm not a spaceman!
Can't see a castle, I don't need a sleigh,
I brought my wings, no, not today
I'm a cosmopolitan, right-handed wingless man
Ooh, I'm not a spaceman, no, no

Journey Spaceman Comments
Steve Perry > Rolie Polie.
This is my favorite Pre Perry song and my second-favorite is of a lifetime
Love the high hat groove, Ainsley was great.
Journey rocks
They need to play this on the air
Back when music was real
I have all 3 of the first releases. This is the Journey I was a fan of then. Call their music progressive. I call it music to my ears to this very day.
Any person that is From The San Francisco Bay Area Region That grew up and discovered real music like this .These former members of Santana defined a clean and precise definition of Quality Music that was very original and not commercial. They became a commercial sensation creating very successful music. But this along with the first record and Look into the Future really is the definition of a progressive band that has no limits.
Elton John influence here
Omg!! Miss the real thing!!
Awe beautiful stuff man🤗takes me back to junior high in the early seventies thanks for posting this😎
How could 18 people hate the song
I saw Journey during the tour behind this album, '76 or '77. I loved this album, when they were a ROCK BAND, before pumping out Top 40 hits was MORE Important. Then when Rolie left, so did I.
What's funny is the hidden hand gesture, like Napoleon?. And the fact that the journey is a reference to Masonic progression.
I like this song
They need to play this on the radio
We give thanks to the band that gave us Journey
This Journey was great before Perry.destroyed it
The band, needed a hit single well what's wrong with this awesome song a hit in my eyes
Dont forget robert flieshman. He was only with journey not even a year. Always liked rollie. Like deen castronovo too.
Now that is when they were fucking Good !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At new George's san rafael ca. He was the nicest person.show was fab.
Love this song. My favorite Journey song.
Journey at it's best, Greg Rolie always should have been a part of the band, made them more tolerable with the addition of S.Perry..
I love all of Journey music and band members
me too 😄
great tune, used to rock this song when i was ,,,a young man,
that's Journey I'm talking about the first three albums
Such a crime. Steve Perry took a great rock band and turned it into bubblegum flavored bullshit. This is the only Journey I recognize or remember.
Lovely, lovely wholesome music. Greg, Neal & pre-Steve Journey rocked.
But how long can a band keep “covering” The beloved, awesome Santana Sound B4 us fans say “nuff is enuff”, wanting to hear the creativity of their own sound?
When we want Santana we go to see Santana, still today.
Steve Perry added demension, solid hits, more passion & brought more of the Band’s own style to roost.
Change was what put Journey on the map when Steve arrived on board. 💓
UNbowed62 Cute love letter.
Forever! Thanks!
UNbowed62 🙈🙉🙊
Anyone who does not appreciate what Steve Perry brought to the writing and overall sound of Journey is a musical snob...period. Adding Perry was a good move by Herbie Herbert because it launched them into commercial success and a much wider audience. They achieved what every band hopes to achieve.
that may be true but without the band's Beginnings there would have been no commercial success anyway. a musical snob would not appreciate one line-up or the other of the band's discography.
Excelente guitar man!!!
Unfrknblvbl... So good! Of course, you have to read between the lines on his songs anyway....Unique excellence!
This what should've ended in the 1977 billboards! I <3 this song!!!
The progressive early version of the band Journey definitely hit the pinnacle of their style on this song and album NEXT.
Don't Forget George Before Perry......
God i miss this sound. Fuck Steve Perry and whoever had the "bright" idea of him singing for this band. They could have been so much more :(
Greg Berry you might want to learn a little bit about music before you talk about it. This band became way more with Steve Perry than it ever was before him.
I would like to see someone cover this tune today. I program this on the local jukebox every now and then, make sure to tell people it's Journey.
Possibly my favorite Journey track.
Bat Out of Hell, that is.
This album,,and Bat of Hell, were my first rock albums. I was 9 years old.
Wheel in the Sky ish?
Sadly it is all over, they will never ever return to the songs on the first 3 albums. They have dumbed it down for so long, they can't even play at that level any longer. So sadly, just enjoy what was.
Fantastic Album period
I like the old Journey better then the new ones..
i saw journey for years when they opened for bands not even as talented as they were , i went to see them when they started becoming a headline act then one time we went to see em and they opened up and some dude was singing about the lights in the city for fucks sake 'perry' it was a good move for the band to get perry cause it brought in female ticket buyers but alas the real journey was over!
You have Phil Collins to thank for that. He'll never be more than just a Pop Star. At one point, his vocals saturated the air waves so much that I couldn't stand to listen to his music anymore. Give me Peter Gabriel any day! He was really the genius behind the band. As far as I'm concerned, Journey were no more after that first album.
I can't stop laughing when you mentioned "some dude singing about the lights in the city", LMAO!
and now they got a guy that can't fully pronounce words
God, what a bunch of assholes you all are.
You can like BOTH Collins and Gabriel, you know...
thanks so much for this!
Believe they played spaceman live on the infinity tour with Perry doing backup vocals. Anybody know if a recording is out there?
I don't think they played Spaceman but they did play a few pre Perry tunes.
I love this guitar solo
I love all of his guitar solos!
I love Next.
Fantastic record
I have no idea who this band are but giving it a try
They are nominees of this year's Hall of Fame. Journey ("Open Arms" etc.).
slipnpitch journey at the earlies days.. later they become One of the most important rock band of the Usa.
Only the three first albums are good. The rest is just commercial stuff.
they went from Progressive Rock to Pop once Perry joined to help showcase his voice. the music was still pretty good for the most part but not nearly as powerful as this early stuff was
Well, this is their 3rd (released) album and last album before Steve Perry.
I suggest you try their 1st album self-titled simply "JOURNEY" after which came "LOOK INTO THE FUTURE"
....Back when Neil didn't have the good sense to wear a shirt....Looks like Tito the conga guy in Santana....Neil,Neil,Neil - you should never let your girlfriend be your fashion consultant...Remember, pictures are forever !!
He was in Santana you know.
There were two percussionists in Santana; Jose "Chepito" Areas and Mike Carabello. Your racist-ass comment about "Tito the conga guy" shows how ignorant you are about Santana.
JOURNEY..NEXT..LOOK INTO THE FUTURE...BEST JOURNEY MUSIC "EVER!!"..COME BACK GUYS TO ALL THIS GREAT MUSIC!!!
This is absolutely the best music Journey put out. I compare there expertise too rush in the day.
Big Jack
is this the real journey damn right
In my pre-teen years I first heard this from Journey. Today these songs are just as sweet to the soul. Journey debut/Look Into the Future/Next are gems in my music collection.
"Don't be so wise, I was born to fly
Not without a place in the wind
Walked off a cliff, then I closed my eyes
Ooh, I'm not a spaceman, no, no"
Maybe you didn't notice, Killer Bass!
Damn straight, and some of his more laid back riffs, when he gets going, WOW, and how he meshed with Aynsley, superb
I always notice, best bottom end in rock group history, and then POOF, gone.
Bumping like she must perfectly bump !
I still play this song in my head especially when the seasons change from Winter to Spring. This one and Look Into the Future, really hit the spot.
One of the best songs of all time.
one moron didn't like it
+Uncle Steve hahaha
Only real Journey fans know this great song!
old journey is the only journey first 3 album s. no wonder Ainsley left after infinity
I think the issue was Perry was trying to tell Aynsley how to play the drums, the band didn't back Dunbar which sucked, Infinity, his work with Starship and Whitesnake all prove no one should tell Aynsley how to play the drums, let him create. He adds more than your simple mind can fathom.
and guess who won that argument :)
actually prarie prince was the original drummer; but he left the band to join the tubes before their first album.
I too believe the first 3 lps were the best of Journey perry made them famous maybe with those pop 40 tunes. But this is raw hard prog rock
Neal, baby!
That laugh at the end always gets me.
Is that a talk-box you can faintly hear in the beginning of the tune? Never noticed that b4. Great Journey classic.
This song is fucking fantastic!
+Page Bridges now thats not how ladies talk, lol.
I Really liked these guys when they were this rendition. Not the 78 version.
Steve Perry more popish. Greg Rolie is more hard rock. Don't get me wrong Steve is good. I just prefer Greg
The only REAL JOURNEY
Total Rush!!!!!!
greg rolie, aynsley dunbar, neal schon, russ valory= baaadddd aassss!
The real Journey
THIS IS MY FAVORITE JOURNEY SONG
Fuckin great song.
Infinity is a better album than this.
+111highgh yeah, if you like commercial garbage.....which you obviously do....fucking front runner. You're sickening.
+111highgh LOLOL...you're all butt hurt....I bet you fuck 9 year old boys, too.
Are you talking about 'Cookie Duster'? Damn, I love that track.
100% Portuguese. From what I've heard from one of his contemporaries he does speak the language.
This is the REAL journey...Gregg Rolie,we love you
Marta Mallory yes Marta, awesome Journey was an Awesome band period!!!! Greg is my boy over Steve Perry anyway brah.
yeah, this is Journey. Gregg Rolie is the man.
Nice YAMAHA Chuck!!! Looks to be a fun Journey
only 7 of those made. wish I had one.
I'm a cosmopolitan right handed wingless man ...
To hell with devils and ET'S and transdimensional beings and other, nether withers wouldst I might wonder over.
