Journey - Of A Lifetime Lyrics

The mist is slowly lifting
The sound of life misplaced your mind
You're sitting, spellbound thru out time
I hope that you remember what you find
Singin' more of a lifetime

You put it down-all that I'm thinking
But take a long and distant search, when all is right
You take for granted
You can't look down but you're no worse.
Singin' more of a lifetime

The countless visions that are drifting
The silver dreams you hate to lose.
There's no harm. We've all been waiting.
Well keep your faith. Do what you choose.
Singin' more of a lifetime

Best concert I ever saw was at the Cow Palace, New Years Eve. Santana was the headliner so they played at midnight. The original Journey (no Perry) came on after. We were on the floor behind the crowd when Santana played. After they finished, the floor just opened up. We ran to the front of the stage and Journey tore it up for 2 hours. Concert wasn't over until 3:00 or so.

I was living in Sunnyvale. I had to get a ride back. Because i lost my friends in that same rush. Hell of show. I hung out in the parking lot it seemed like for ever. When i finally made it home it was light out. Turned on Kome and went to sleep. Thanks i haven't thought about tha night in a very long time, thanks for the memory...

This is the real journey when thay were a band of creativity

Neal Schon, Ansley Dunbar, Greg Rollie, Ross Valorie, & George Tickner, here on Their ( First Album ), The Finest! & Very Kind people! As we Promoted them,
for two consecutive Days, with Kansas, ( they had just came out with their Leftoverture Album after we had them Booked! ) And then wanted MORE Money!
said they were not going to play sec. Show! Any how things got pretty heated & I Finally told Their Manager “You people are Too much Glamour! & Not Enough
TALENT! Don’t get me wrong, I Do like their music, though; NO One ate w/ them or was in their dressing rooms and they were cussing & complaining and yet,
calling theirselves Christians; This is Known as Christendom, ( Babylon the Great ), In which we Are To Keep Clear Of = Rev.18: 2, 4, 5, 8. And What Will Happen During The “GREAT TRIBULATION”? = Rev.17:5,15-18. Anyway! Back to Journey! I told Neal Schon, I Felt They had So Much Music!, It would take
them at least Ten Years! To Produce All their Music! I was sure off some Years, they Continued for another 30+, Also Neal had brought a New lead singer
    to the Band! Not Steve Perry But Steve Augeri;

    hello my dear lifetime journey

  7. K.... S....

This and the debut Montrose album were my favorites, Bridge of Sighs was a close third.

  8. S.... D....

This band has ALWAYS played crisp. Instrumentals are grossly underestimated in how great these musicians really are. I don't much care since Steve Augeri left...not much of a Arnel fan. But instumentally they smoke!!! Again always tight. These first 3 albums are AMAZING!!!

  9. D.... K....

    what about DUNBAR!!!

    Falling Not Floating...

Gregg Rolie Was A Better Singer And Keyboard Player Then He Ever Got Credited For .But The Facts Don’t Lie If Journey Didn’t Bring In Steve Perry To Get Them Radio Hits This Album ,Look Into The Future ,And Next Would Of Been The Only 3 Albums They Would Of Produced !!

  12. j.... d....

so many people dont know there was journey before Steve Perry

  13. B.... C....

this journey is excellent, Gregg is great. But to say this is better than SP Journey is wrong. Its different, perhaps you prefer it, perhaps its more soulful, perhaps the musicianship is better? But Journey with SP were unreal, his voice is one of the best of all time and their songs were great songs (pop rock songs, but brilliant pop songs). Yes they went mainstream, but mainstream isn't necessarily bad.

  14. p.... ....

    Waaat? This is Journey??
Well, maybe I guess this is a complete "journey" But I cant believe it hearing these songs. Extremely prog...

  20. K.... M....

It was 1976 when I first heard this. I thought my boyfriend and I would be together for ever!I was 16 and this was our song. ❤ It lasted 1 whole year.😆

Keep sharing your video. New friend here

  23. S.... G....

Can't get enough of this song! I have to listen to it at least once a day!

  24. M.... R....

Hi kuya. Pinadala ako d2 ni mama Bongie Pilapil Macas. Nice videos po. I love Journey

  25. D.... ....

Killer song, I thought Journey was great up until when Jonathan Cain replaced Gregg Rolie on keyboards in late 1980, afterwards Journey became way too poppy when Jonathan Cain took over on keyboards.

  26. T.... S....

Pure 70’s rock. Wish journey stayed with this sound. Their ballad shit is good and I enjoy but they blow my balls off with this kind of jam

  27. J.... M....

This makes me think of a few bar bands. Neil trying to sound like his old boss. There is a reason his name is never mentioned when talking about great Guitar Players. Don't trash SP Look at the names credited to most of Journeys song writing.

  28. j.... P....

nice old school music.. nice one bro

  29. A.... R....

Saw Journey in 1975 here in Sacramento at the Memorial Auditorium. Great show and one I will never forget.

  30. O.... D....

Melhor fase! Melhor álbum de Journey!
    Arte pura... tão melancolicamente bela.

  31. G.... K....

    Nice song

  32. J.... B....

if you look closely in the album booklet in the cd it says JOURNEY IS MEANT TO BE PLAYED AT HIGH VOLUME in fine print...thought that was cool

  33. A.... R....

The best version o Journey imho no disrespect to Steve perry loved him in his solo career

  34. S.... S....

My favourite Journey tune, and its the first song on their first album. Every member of the band have crafted every note of this masterpiece to align the planets in their orbit. Ross Valory's bass lines weave in and out of Neal's mind-bending space-rock java at the end so perfectly. Legendary.

  35. l.... m....

This album just blows me away..
Prog. Fusion .blues. Neil...aynsley...greg and ross on 🔥!

  36. n.... ....

They do make good music these days... Be informed   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iUE3_h9Opio  BTW you are doing yourself a disservice if you don't listen to the whole song.  Then go listen to their full self titled Album.

  37. C.... L....

    My favorite Journey album EVER

  38. d.... ....

This is the Journey that should tour! How did they go from this to the,in my opinion, crap band we have today?

  39. R.... ....

    Another favourite of mine..

  40. d.... ....

One of my FAVORITE Albums ever! Neil Shaun...We are not worthy! LOL!

  41. R.... M....

this song should be played at every Journey concert including the ones with Arnel or Steve Perry on vocals. Deen Castronovo did an outstanding job on vocals and drums during the Journey Through Time concert at the Orpheum Theater in Los Angeles. of a lifetime is Journeys, Free Bird, Stairway to Heaven, or Green Grass and High Tides. Los Angeles is ready for another Journey Through Time show. I could tell by the amount of people at the concert that it almost sold out and I'm sure the only reason it didn't is because tickets went on sale about two weeks before the show so no one really had time to hear about it. I'm sure another Journey Through Time show would sell out the Forum so come on down to Los Angeles again soon, and if you play anything from these first three albums I will be there. please make 2019 the year that you reissue these first three albums I think the world is ready for it now.

  42. B.... T....

    My go to smoke song

  43. R.... C....

Saw the look into future tour .next tour ..infinity thru frontiers tours nyc ..after frontiers i was gone ...palldium nyc 14st . Is where i saw look into fut .n. next ..after fronteirs too girly for me .

  44. p.... ....

    such a badass song

thanks to my guitar teacher for giving me that vinyl

  45. S.... S....

So many great songs on Journey's first LP, however this one and Mystery Mountain do it for me every time. Neal tells stories with his solos, the name of the band is perfect for what they do. Their best songs are journeys through sound into the secrets of Life itself.

  46. G.... S....

saw them live right after this album came out. Dunbar and Schon along with Rolie ... tremendous energy and vision in the early years

  47. T.... S....

Try Crippled Black Phoenix's cover of this classic, one hell of a female lead vocalist, on the Album Cut.

  48. d.... ....

    What a beautiful melody.

  49. p.... ....

god damn this is a hidden gem, holy fuck the old journey was so fucking god

  50. S.... R....

    Interesting drum track.

  51. R.... O....

So interesting rolie didn't leave this band because of fame or fortune he said the everyday grind of touring without stop did him in I can understand that but without him the soul of the band went away the heart remained but of course you can tell the difference

  52. m.... h....

    When they were good !

  53. j.... t....

wish was there me i found this cd after there so popular. i seen wood stock films with carlos satana an grg rollie an neal schon

  54. M.... ....

My cover band Vista Point plays this epic song. They were so much better before Steve Perry joined.

  55. J.... M....

    ANSLEY DUNBAR!!!!!!!!!!!!

  56. E.... C....

Ahh the memories, Great times for sure late 70's when you could feel like you were going to miss something.

  57. R.... ....

    What a great song! Wow!

  58. M.... R....

As a Bay Area teenager I was captivated by the early records. The first album with Steve Perry was still pretty edgy but I jumped off the Journey train after that.

  59. B.... J....

    Tickner played solo on this.

  60. R.... S....

I love Journey and all eras of them. I hate when people praise Perry as the guy made them famous and that they would never have made it without him. As to disregard the fact that they had the most talented group of musicians ever. But also saying Perry ruined Journey is too far the other way. It was practically the same group of people making music. But even songs in Perry era sounded just like this (ex. Opened The Door, Daydream, People and Places) AND they also had their hits that drew in a huge crowd with Lights, Wheel in the Sky, Lovin’ Touchin’ Squeezin’.

What I’m really trying to say is, the change really didn’t change as much as most people think. And every person who was and is part of Journey have their own special reason and purpose in the band. None are greater than the other, just for the mere fact that they’re all near perfect at their craft. Pre Perry era is amazing, Perry era is amazing, Cain era is amazing.

  61. J.... T....

Greg Rolie over that ballad fool Steve Perry anytime any day.

  62. D.... P....

Ladies and gentlemen... welcome to the best song ever created (immho). Look Into The Future is an extremely close rival.

  63. P.... D....

Was Magic inside the Cow Palace. The first and the Best of Journey !

  64. d.... l....

Great Journey Album-Tune circa 1974, Greg Rolle was an awesome lyricist and vocalist

  65. g.... d....

I want to see Steve Perry videos with the band

  66. D.... S....

    I have this one

  67. c.... ....

Absolute masterpiece. Everytime ending giving me goosebumps. So happy that found them. If anyone can tell same style band (early "Journey" style), would really appreciate it.

  68. L.... D....

    The best came before Perry

  69. b.... s....

    dunbar!

  70. C.... ....

If you listen closely, you'll hear Ross Vallory changing to a regular guitar to play the bass lines in some parts of the song. I think that's what's happening.

  71. T.... B....

Simply: one of their best ever!

  72. s.... m....

This was when Journey was a Journey. Who knew they would lead people into eternal Perry pop teenage crap.

  73. j.... P....

It was one of the best days of the summer I saw them for free at the Schaefer music festival jn Central park just before they released the album with of a lifetime on it 🥁👍awesome

  74. S.... T....

The music that makes you forget every fucking problem and be alive

  75. T.... S....

I was stuck, somewhere.....nothing to listen to except a cassette tape......of.....Journey? Hmmmm
Why not? How bad could they be? I am SO glad I listened to this album. Changed the way I thought about so many things in life.

  76. k.... c....

this was clearly the best album they did

  77. I.... B....

I love the pre-mega fame Journey.....kinda like I prefer the pre-Buckingham/Nicks Fleetwood Mac.

  78. P.... M....

What's bubblegum about Mother Father, Keep on Running, Lay it Down, Where Were You, Edge of the Blade, Back Talk, Troubled Child, Rubicon, Precious Time, et al. Journey's only bubblegum pop rock album was Raised On Radio. To say othwise, is illustrating your ignorance of the Steve Perry era.

  79. R.... C....

A lot of bands that were awesome in 1970-1974 went for the new money from 1975 and on ! And they were required to write pop songs that would be a hit !

  80. L.... D....

    😌♥️

  81. T.... S....

Give Crippled Black Phoenix's cover version of this a go. The album cover version is dynamite, and some of the live stuff is sensational when the sound is good. The lead guitar is not as out front, so a slightly different take, but nice to see a modern day version of this classic, with a female haunting vocal.

  82. B.... G....

Journey! This is when the band took you on a Journey!  then the money team-Steve it became there Journey

  83. B.... N....

this is just fuckinggreat music. Reminds me of my dad

  84. M.... K....

Greg is the man. weird on the Journey induction.

  85. J.... M....

    Arsalomar right on. Right on.

  86. J.... M....

    Just fabulous stuff.

  87. A.... H....

Early or mid-70's, spent a lot of time in SF modeling. Our agent's studio was in a Victorian (next to the "Hippo" restaurant) that had been divided into several studios...these guys occupied one of the spaces and we'd hear them practicing every now and then. The first time I heard them there, the agent said "oh, it's some guys who call themselves Journey". It was cool b/c I actually knew who they were!

  88. T.... W....

The real 'Journey' without the nut case S.Perry without a doubt made. better music. It is my understanding that record comp execs told Neil@ Greg that if tbey didnt become more mainstream=am radio they would not resign the band recording contract. To bad even still they managed to write many radio hit music but its hard to even believe the before perry Journey sound to the after. Ill take the B4 everytime. Awesome sound.

  89. S.... ....

    Masterpiece !

  90. L.... ....

does anyone know what guitar rhythm guitar plays on verses and the riff that starts at 2:30

  91. D.... &....

I don't care for Mr Steve Gregg has the far better voice as well as them fingers haha

  92. A.... L....

Neals solo in this is a masterpeice.. hes a masterpeice!

  93. S.... T....

This is a gift to humanity

  94. T.... L....

21 years ago a 13 year old walked into the henry ford centennial library and checked out journeys greatest hits on cd. Im so glad he did.

  95. T.... S....

How sad is it that Journey, can't or won't play this classic number , while Crippled Black Phoenix, are barnstorming countries all over the world blasting it Live, to a new generation, who have no idea where it came from. Thanks "Phoenix", it is appreciated

  96. T.... S....

Check out Crippled Black Phoenix's homage to this 'monster" piece of musicianship.

Female vocalist, and strong musicianship. No comparisons, just enjoy.

  97. T.... S....

When Aynsley and Gregg's turn at performing with the group at HOF happens, this has to be the song they play.

  98. t.... ....

Heard this song for the first time today. IM fucking HOOKED

  99. l.... ....
