I wondered how they filtered background noises recording music in a forest, but if you listen to this loudly, you can hear birds singing. 

Did they actually record it? Watching "Pilot Me", I felt they tracked everything in a proper place first, then went outside and recorded the live footage. Then, mixed some of the background noises - otherwise, how could a single mic record so clearly and well EQed guitar and vocal, at that distance, at the same time?

Mason Jar Music is all about using old techniques combined with modern tech, to supposedly create these amazing live recordings. They've done a number of them which you can see on their channel or website. Maybe I'm gullible but I think it's possible with the right sound tech knowledge.
