This is one of the most beautiful songs ever created. I have, as a grown man, bawled my eyes out more than once to this masterpiece, most recently for the last 10 minutes in front of my two year old daughter in the car. I explained to her after I gained my composure that it is about how Jesus will never stop loving us, no matter what we've done. And honestly I am breaking down speaking those words in voice to text to write this comment right now. We serve a gracious King. Thank you for this work of art, brother

Good song, but who is the She he is saying is singing over him? The few songs I've heard, like Farther Along by this man are awesome and theologically sound, but to me I'm like, is he singing about Mary and could be Catholic? I hope he isn't singing about her, but I don't get how it could be his mom, when he says "I was the son of a good man." Thoughts?

"Father" is capitalized mid sentence by the artist. Innocence is the "she." It is a religious song in many ways, as most of his songs are.

Also, couldn't it be about both family and faith? Why is it either/or? It clearly has references to faith and sin, along with allusions to biblical themes such as "hand to the plow" and "plant the good seed."

He’s not Catholic. My cousin lives in Muncie where he lives & indirectly knows where he gathers for fellowship. His songs are not religious but spiritual. Jesus was not religious but spiritual. This album was produced about around when his wife & he reconciled/settled down into marriage & children after about a 2 year break-up. I believe the “she” this song refers to is either wisdom based on scripture &/or his wife.

I am a teenager struggling with sin, but my father is one of the most patient men I've ever met. He and I both quite in Josh, and this songs always reminds me of my pops. I'm a christian, but in all honesty the struggle of temptation from sin is a very difficult one, especially as a 17 year old growing man. This song holds a special place in my heart. I can't wait to see you josh when you come to Jacksonville in march! We got VIP tickets for my dad's birthday, can't wait!

A poem i quite like, really touched me.

Josh garrels you my never see this comment in your life but I'm not just writing this for you, I'm writing this so other people see this and be come inspired. I always felt like I let down god but he always reminded me that I was forgiven but I didn't take it seriously. So one day I was watching a video and a song of yours came up and it was called farther along and I loved that song and your voice so I looked up your name on a music app and listened briefly to some songs and put them on a playlist if I liked them. So I was listening to all the songs I downloaded and and started listening to at the table and I broke down in tears because it reminded me that even though I might have failed in some place's god still loves me and he still is reserving a seat at the table for me. Josh, I am just in tears. I have been faithfully standing and holding tight to the promises that God has spoken over my eldest son who has chosen a sinful path. I trust that God love for him is so much greater than mine and that I will see the day when he will be coming down the road towards home with a light in his eyes and a strength in his Spirit.
