My brother loved Jonny Lang's music. He was a truck driver whose back was broke when he was hit. He could not take the emotional or physical pain and died of a pain pill overdose in Nov 2011. I played this song over and over at the service we had for him. It still makes me cry.

Hearing this has helped me fight my depression. I used to rely on this and Last Goodbye as a teen in high school. Still gives me strength to this day.

I think we can all relate. I think if we allow ourselves, we would beat ourselves up worse than the world does.......and that's pretty bad. The thing is, He loves us beyond human comprehension. His thoughts about us are more than the grains of sand on all of the beaches He created. All we have to do is put our hand in His.

I was going through anxiety, depression, and bout of heart problems after a bad break up I went through.  One night I was browsing through some of Lang's songs and fell on this song.  I'm not religious person, but have always called out to my Father and Mother when I'm going through my problems.  After listening to this song several times, I called out to them to help me through this.  Months later I have a clear conscience for the first time in my life, and ready to move on.  Never believe people who say music doesn't heal.  Cause it can if you listen to the message.

Our son is 33 now and he still suffers from the passing of the father who loved him more than anyone else. Stay strong, Allison. Someone needs you.

@MamaBoots1111 Thank you for your prayers. After I posted that comment I fell back hard and suffered from the worst withdrawal period I had ever faced. I literally faced demons, and whether you believe in these things or not, if you see and feel and hear your tormentors, they are absolutely real for you. That was the end of my addiction. March 23 was my last drink and my miracle came when I dropped to my knees in prayer and asked God "Please help me, I can't do this alone, take the reigns." An amazing feeling of peace and love overcame me and my craving immediately left me and hasn't returned. Hasn't been a cakewalk, I have worked hard to put my head and life back together, but I am happier than I have ever been and living my life from a place of love. God does answer prayers.

I'm just amazed by how the Lord touches our lives... this song is a description of my life and how I found my way back to Jesus, bruised and dumbfounded. The swimming upstream part is so exactly what I felt at that moment when I realized He was there the whole time hand outstretched.

As much as i love his guitar playing and I do, his singing is what REALLY REALLY separates. and his song writing has really gotten good as well. Boring? only if you can't enjoy something without fast in your face soloing. This tune has depth and beauty, mainly in the lyrics and the singing. I love the lick he sings on the line "What about these chains Lord." In addition to his talent his passion really stands out.

Jonny Lang is constantly searching for his inspiration. You have to respect that. But anyone who thinks this is even close to his potential is misguided. Flights of fantasy and fairy tails are only inspirational to the weak. Those who choose to embrace reality need to hear songs from the true soul of man. Not this trash.
