A very haunting song,telling the story of The Civil War so vividly and sung so beautifully by The Voice,Tom Jones!

I've heard the remake of this song Chris Stapleton put out. That is truly an amazing, great song.I listen to this song, and heard for the first time two Dad's waiting by the railroad track for their darlings to come back. it made me cry. It hurt me truly, deeply in my soul. Wow. What a horrible thing.

It's actually "Two gals" but yeah, horrible with a staggering loss of lives.

Tom Jones did this song in 1969 on his live TV show, but it was not
pictures, it was a full stage set. It got an Emmy for best costumes!
It really stuck in my mind all these years, because it was so impressive
on my new 13" Admiral color TV. Tom Jones was dressed as a Confederate
soldier and had a sizeable group on stage all in magnificent costumes
and stage design, as well as camera angles. Since it was live, it may
not have been taped, which would be a shame. I was 22 years old at the
time, gosh I would have those times again. I hope someone can find that
program and post it here.

Tom was dressed as both brothers-one Union, one Confederate. A double was used when both were in the scene. I loved it. The song tells the story of The Civil War so vividly.
