Jones, Tom - St. James' Infirmary Blues Lyrics
I went down to the St James Infirmary
Saw my baby there
She stretched out on a long white table
So sweet, so cold, so fair
Let her go, let her go, God bless her
She can look this wide world over
But she'll never find a sweet man like me
When I die want you to dress me in straight lace shoes
I wanna a boxback coat and a Stetson hat
Put a twenty dollar gold piece on my watch chain
So the boys'll know that I died standing flat

Jones, Tom St. James' Infirmary Blues Comments
WOW!!!!! That was a great preference... Well done. 🤩🤩🤩🤩
When I was young I wrote off Tom Jones as just a typical pop singer. As I've grown older I've grown to appreciate what a great musician he is. The range of musical genres he covers is amazing!
YES,,, She is amazing,, and her brother is also talented... They had a band in North Carolina called The Carolina Chocolate Drops....
Her doing flat--footin barefoot,, truly a woman of varied talents and very knowledgeable.....
Why did he go first? Guess that ladies first isn’t an English thing 🙄
Used to be an English thing but equality has taken over
What's new pussy cat
Gives me the chills
Rhiannon is the name of an ancient Welsh goddess. Tom Jones is a Welsh god. Good match.
Great to see Rhiannon on this after hearing her first on the Nashville series. Tom's still got it!
I heard Tom Jones in 1965 in Framingham Massachusetts at the Carousel Theater. Wow did he have pipes! I did not see him. We lived on Gleason Street and sat on the hill above the theater and could hear the show-without paying. It was a tent-theater in the round open air. Jimi Hendrix played there and Led Zeppelin. Nice! Thanks
I remember seeing Tom Jones on the Ed Sullivan show during 1968. His swagger has toned-down since rhen, but the charisma has not diminished. The voice still has the deep baritone. What career longevity he has had!
If hearing Rhiannon singing isn't impressive enough, consider she is one the best banjo players alive and can hold her own on the fiddle and is a fantastic flat foot dancer. All that in addition to being a musical scholar of the highest order.
Unbelievable must hear
GOOD......so.... Good....
The Bajoran sings well.
Rhiannon is gold medal at everything: brains, beauty, and talent. I can't think of a more attractive woman.
The difference between those voices aren't small, fantastic to be able to bridge it and get away with this result.
The perfect blues duet (Ottilie Patterson now has an equal !)
A great paring of voices!
This very impressive - great concoction of the very best ingredients :-))
Sir Tom still has what it takes, fantastic voice. The young lady also has a great voice, this was a great duet. Jools Holland and his band are the best. Well done by all.👍👍
Wanna see something else good by Tom Jones? He sings Black Betty... a nice version.
Wanna see something else good by Rhiannon Giddens? Anything she does is good...
rhiannon just loves to sing bare footed
Thank you PBS
When singers move out of safe the soul come out
Heck yeah, listen to her..
Good performance but a disservice to a traditional sad blues song about someone loosing his loved one, and turning it into a happy-go-lucky jazzy dance song...!
What a haunting thought that in just 3 months Lady Linda would be no more. 😥 💔
This song has an interesting history, linking back to England and also out west in America.
Rhiannon is so fantastic!! She can do any tune and her Celtic is fabulous!
Sir Tom- take a bow. In his seventies, this Welshman still sounds so BRUTHAH!!
Beautiful!
Awesome!🌏✌❤
Love tom jones...and this girls voice is golden.
Red dead brought me here!
Matthew Kingsmill red dead redemption?
@Godfather9814 yh
This is great!!! Two excellent singers!!!
Two of the best voices you’ll ever hear in one place!
When powerful talents meet, magic is born
Bloody marvellous
My God I'm having a Billie Holiday flashback her voice is so big
Their voices may be be great but they butchered the lyrics and story of this song written by Cab Calloway and done best by Arlo Guthrie...

Intomotherfuckingnation
Rhiannon has the chops to go head-to-head with Tom Jones or anyone else -- remarkable singer, remarkable woman.
What on earth is Giddens doing here? Whom ever organised this needs quizzing?
How do you mean?
MMM, MMM Good!
Great old song! Made even greater by this collaboration. Rhiannon Giddens is my new favorite songstress, Tom Jones is one of my old favorite singers.
Still LOVE Mr. Jones💞💞 Finding this little chocolate drop (love her bands name) has renewed my faith new acts are being given voice in today’s market!!
One of my favorite songs done in a way I never heard before Love it
tell that to the Beatles and the stones and the Animals and the other million , mary
If it weren't for American music, Brits would be hard up.
Gotta love William H. Macy on the trumpet there!
Damn that was good
The PBS concert at the Ryman brought me here because of Rhiannon Giddens - had never heard of her.
Wow! Super talented, beautiful and classy - very impressed.
They're amazing, but FOR ME this is a sad song that couldn't be performed with such joy and happiness.
My mom passed away almost a year ago. I've been listening to some artists & songs that she enjoyed in honor of her. She loved Tom Jones, and while she didn't know Rhiannon Giddens, she surely would have embraced her voice, and her music. This performance was amazing.
Is there anything that girl can't sing?
That was da jam. Alright now!,,
Sing it Tom jones
Sing it girl
Tom Jones is one of my favorite singers of all time.
Tom has still got it!! Rhiannon as excellent as ever.
YES OH YES>>> my kind of stuff boys and girls....sing it again!!!...
Well that was rather tremendous. Rhiannon is the reason I watched, but respect to Tom Jones. Respect for recognizing Rhiannon's talent and respect for his singing.
She could sing the phone book, if they still existed
😂😂
Search her out, this is ok but she's a lot better than this.
ysah tom

My dream is Jools, Tom and Hugh Laurie
Wonderful duet! Great pairing!
must be the unlikeliest duet i ever heard but great job
What a great pairing! See her singing Shake Sugaree
I believe one of the most talented ladies on this planet.
Stunning
unreal good God Bless Performance artists, worldwide
The Devil Makes Three brought me here.
She has a set of pipes, for sure! She makes Beyonce and those of such ilk, sound like amateurs.
I adore RG. I am shocked at how good Tom Jones sounds on this.
HOLY FUCK!!! MIND BLOWN! Rhinnon & Mr. Jones rockin the friggin house!!!!!! Band was awesome too!! :D
Crushing bigtime on Rhiannon Giddens! Truly a generational talent!
Rhiannon voice is very beautiful! Amazing and true talent... Tom Jones is a lengend singer... Both fantastic artist...❤️
Louis Armstrong's version is the best !
Seen her twice in concert. Definitely a must if you like music and history.....and no one needs to talk up Tom Jones
So wonderful to see Rhiannon clogging, brings joy to my heart and my feet.
Who are the forty dislikes? Skriulls? Chautari? Cthulu Cultists? Alt.Right frog worshippers?
They prefer the Pat Boone version.
Came to this because I'm a fan of Rhiannon Giddens. I totally changed my mind about Tom Jones after seeing the Mike Figgis segment of Martin Scorsese's documentary on the blues. I had always dismissed Jones as Las Vegas glitter - something I detest. But listening to him discussing music in that "Red, White & Blues" segment (on the British blues scene), I had to change my view of TJ - he's a talented guy who cares about music. I very much comes across in that documentary.
Those of you who don't know the origin of St. James Infirmary Blues, look it up on Wikipedia. I had thought it was a Louis Armstrong composition, but it seems Satch didn't write it but instead made it famous, all the way back in 1928!
Sorry for the typos above. Should read "It very much comes across in that documentary."
The best rendition of the this tune ever! Loved it.
Soo much better than Tony and LadyGG
Whoa love this! Fabulous musicians
This woman is the best!
The trumpet player was not shabby either
Ms. Giddens can only be described as a genius. This duet is superb.
Saw her in Keene NH. Marvelous!💙
How is she not more famous?
Wow, she is great, but sadly I never heard of heard of her. Where have I been?
A lot of people haven't. There is so much music out there I guess. Better late than never. I only discovered her, kind of by chance, in 2014 when I saw her sing live at Nonesuch Records 50th Anniversary concert in London. I have seen her several times since; the last time just three days ago in a small venue. Each time I have seen her, the set and the band have been quite different, but it has always been wonderful.
Rhiannon voice is Epic!!!.
