i heard this in a car coming over the bridge last night back into manhattan after a long sunday -- was nearly nearly perfect

  7. B.... ....

Futuristic Classic...Quincy uses old school rules in LAYERING music...pay attention...all his songs create moods from the layering......and timing of putting it all on top of each other ...and ALWAYS WITH A BADASS VOCALIST....KNOW THIS .....think about it...Patti Austin ..Barry White ...Val.... James Ingram....yes...then the musicians....WHAT A LIFE QUINCY

  8. B.... ....

    Yeah man ..who's playing ???

  9. S.... S....

  13. C.... E....

I still have my original vinyl of the album. Just to look at it. And plenty of CD's. Sounds a great today as it did when It first came out. One of my all time favorites!

  14. B.... L....

This just takes me back when my brother (RIP) would play this on his stereo.69 y’all!!!!!

  15. D.... M....

"Walking In Space" is truly space age!!

  16. R.... G....

It's almost like I was in a real classroom with him teaching me. My musical arrangements are based on listening to this dude...Love him

  17. D.... L....

I bought this album when I was sixteen years and still can't get enough of it.

  18. P.... C....

Wow! Quincy Jones is a living legend! Serious music!

  19. T.... S....

Probably not a coincidence this album dropped the same year as the Apollo Moon landing. But that's "Q". Always at the fore front of what's happening now. A few people mentioned "Smooth Jazz". Even though the sound is "Smooth" this was decades before the term became a thing. Way before PC's, cellphones and sampling. True, raw talent, creativity and imagination honed to a delightful presentation that is simply soothing to the ears. Go Head Quincy!

  20. A.... V....

Thanks for this upload. Never heard this version. Love this song.

    I.... R....

You are sooo right...it seems like musicians are digressing instead of progressing into more genius pathways of music. We can be thankful for all the great Jazz musicians such as QJ...and many others of the past.

  39. N.... M....

Good God, this is one of my favorite jazz tracks ever. What an ensemble performance and the improvisations are insane.

  40. K.... D....

Love this song, sounds like it could have been in one of those James Bond movies with Sean Connorey! What a great sound!

    K.... D....

Kevin Dallas it’s from the broadway musical Hair 1968

  41. g.... ....

I got this album back in 72 when at Stanford and the first time I played this on my Ampex, far f...ing out! Then the song Killer Joe hit the groves! I got some Dago Red and just got lost in space.

  42. B.... B....

One of the great album covers. Q’s ‘fro looking fabulous. Pete Turner did so many awesome LP covers.

  43. j.... m....

Who's the drummer on this track I love it.

    j.... m....

Grady Tate. He kicks everyone in and out as if he knew what they were about to play. The Freddie Hubbard kick-in is a classic.

  44. v.... ....

This is my song of the day!

  45. M.... S....

Now this is truly Quincy Delight Jones at his very best. I am now 60 years old but can clearly remember hearing this as a 12 year old. I remain truly amazed by the genius of this musical production.

    M.... S....

Same age same story he's the man of the music, the man behind music a music maestro I'm proud to say that kinda talent came outta my home town of Chicago

  46. J.... T....

Awesomeness still strong atmospheric year after graduation high school now 67 it's still...Awesome 2018

  47. j.... ....

I was 12 years old in 1969 when my older sister bought this, oh my, just loved it, still do!

  48. V.... N....

Fabulous LP by Quincy. It's hard to believe he also produced Lesley Gore's It's My Party but that too was  a brilliant record albeit pop.

  49. S.... J....

While it's recorded on A&M records, when you look at the personnel and listen to the production, this may well have been CTI before Creed Taylor recruited Bob James, Eric Gale and the crew. Maybe Q gave him the idea. Love this album!

  50. m.... b....

I have this vinyl; it's one of the early ones I purchased years ago... wise choice, Indeed

  51. s.... b....

This sounds like summer: barbeque, soft twilit evenings of falling stars...

  52. L.... D....

By far and without question Quincy Jones is the absolute best.,the greatest music man this planet has ever seen, and will ever know! Larry Mash gangster from queens NewYork.

  53. D.... J....

  54. M.... P....

    A.... G....

The bass god WALKED among us.

    A.... G....

Need to get the ear down for the bass. The driver.

  63. m.... c....

  64. m.... c....

For all you Rahsaan Roland Kirk lovers, as much as you love this, which I do, check out his solo on Mingus at Carnegie Hall. The track is Duke's C Jam Blues. One of the best sax solos ever. He follows George Adams in this cutting session. George's solo was incredible.....but Mr. Kirk blew him away. I was sitting third row center at Carnegie Hall....he got a 10 minute standing ovation!!!

    m.... c....

"If I Loved You", from his "Bright Moments" will knock you out!

  65. B.... V....

Rahsaan Roland Kirk is the tenor soloist. Incredible!

  66. g.... f....

Hypnotic !     Great solos...That Sax gets me crazed !!   LOL

  67. S.... S....

    FAAAACK!

  68. M.... ....

    Who is the singer?

    M.... ....

    +Mekratrig Valerie Simpson.

    M.... ....

+Michael McBride, Its not Valerie Simpson singing lead, its Maretha Stewart if the Wiki page is correct.

    M.... ....

That wiki page is confusing. In the description of the album, Valerie Simpson is credited with lead vocals on this track, but under the personnel section, Maretha Stewart is credited with the lead vocals. It is Valerie Simpson though, listen and you can tell it is her.

  69. E.... H....

Always a joy to listen to.

  70. h.... ....

    Happy Pi Day Birthday Quincy...
    You had the math down...

  71. s.... ....

  75. A.... ....

Classic. Reminds me of a certain summer.
