Jones, Quincy - Charade Lyrics

When we played our charade
We were like children posing
Playing at games, acting out names
Guessing the parts we played
Oh, what a hit we made
We came on next to closing
Best on the bill, lovers until
Love left the masquerade
Fate seemed to pull the strings
I turned and you were gone
While from the darkened wings
That music box played on
Sad little serenade
Song of my heart's composing
I hear it still; I always will
Best on the bill, charade

Jones, Quincy Charade Comments

This is a Masteroiece and only Quincy Jones could take a waltz and come up with this. This is one of my favorites of all time.

Not bad. This tune and Peter Gunn was a tribute to his friend and mentor Henry Mancini who broke him into doing film and tv music scoring. It's chronicled in Quincy's bio book.

Oh, wow, and double-wow! I never knew Quincy Jones' band performed this tune. Swings like hell! Miss "jazzysclassicjazz2", you possess wonderful taste, young lady! It's great to know that music such as this has an audience among younger people. Thanks for posting it on You Tube.

Big deal..why call this stolen ?The great Nobel Laureate Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore has stolen so many tunes, but has very benevolently accepted it ! and thats called INSPIRATION!!!
