Jones, Norah - Strangers Lyrics
Where are you going I don't mind
I've killed my world and I've killed my time
So where do I go what do I see
I see many people coming after me
So where are you going to I don't mind
So I will follow you wherever you go
If your offered hand is still open to me
Strangers on this road we are on
We are not two we are one
So you've been where I've just come
From the land that brings losers on
So we will share this road we walk
And mind our mouths and beware our talk
All the things I own I will share with you
If I feel tomorrow like I feel today
We'll take what we want and give the rest away
Strangers on this road we are on
We are not two we are one
Holy man and holy priest
This love of life makes me weak at my knees
And when we get there make your play
'Cos soon I feel you're gonna carry us away
In a promised lie you made us believe
For many men there is so much grief
And my mind is proud but it aches with rage
And if I live too long I'm afraid I'll die
Strangers on this road we are on
We are not two we are one
Strangers on this road we are on
We are not two we are one

Jones, Norah Strangers Comments
It's such a great tribute to the Kinks to see how many covers, and great covers like this one, people have made of their songs.
GOD SAVE THE KINKS
Norah, thanks for doing one of Dave's best tunes.
Beautiful, sensitive cover of a great song.....
Hearing this cover was like meeting an old friend many years later. I found myself singing along word for word , yet could not remember the exact album. Nice job.
I was prepared not to like this. It would sound too-well sung. It needed that sad, broken voice of Dave Davies. But by the end, I was swept away. She gives it enough of that bluesy sound she does so well, tho I still like the Kink's version better.
It's ok but doesn't have the same soul
Where can I buy this on a CD or MP3?
it's not about original was better it's about WE ALL LOVE THE KINKS and she is the perfect singer for covered their music =x
Several months ago I sent Dave Davies on Facebook the link to the live version of this song by Norah Jones recorded at Tower Theather. Dave liked it so much that he even shared it on his wall saying "Love this one."
This is the most beautiful and soulful song Ive ever heard. God Bless you Norah
great cover
No bigger kinks fan then I and this version is pretty cool. I love the attention, Dave deserves more
The kinks are on fire for this song. Norah does a great version of it but she cant quite nail the emotion of the kinks vocalist. I like this a lot but not quite as much as the original cause it is just so damn good.
agreed - the song is always great - but it takes a more bruised & battered soul to sing it true. Warren Zevon coulda done it. Billie Holiday. etc...
Norah is able to "live and feel" this song. So it was right to make a cover version of it. Although the Dave Davies version sounds more profound I like this one very much.
WOW! Awesome "kover."
Norah is covering this classic on her current tour at some venues....very well done, too!
One of the best songs Dave Davies (of The Kinks) ever wrote and sang. From 1970!! Thanks for the post and yes nothing compares to The Kinks version.
nice song, but the original version (Kinks) is thousand times better!!
great soulful song
I just brought this cd last night and I can't get over this song, just love it:)Thanks for the posting
do you have the other bonus tracks from this album?
