Jones, Howard - Soon You'll Go Lyrics
Soon you'll go
You'll make your mark
Soon you'll go
Takin' my heart
Soon you'll soar
And I'll be there
To watch you fly
Tiny fingers clutching tightly round the edge of the bed
Wouldn't listen to a single word your mother said
I remember how you'd force yourself to stay awake
And wait up to hear my footsteps when I came home late
These things I will hold on to
When I can’t hold on to you
Soon you'll go
You'll make your mark
Soon you'll go
Takin' my heart
Soon you'll soar
Into the sky
And I'll be there
To watch you fly
Trying to reach us when you couldn’t quite express it all
Made a protest we would notice and the motive was clear
Now I understand it looking back across the years
These things I will hold on to
When I can’t hold on to you
Soon you'll go
You'll make your mark
Soon you'll go
Takin' my heart
Soon you'll soar
And I'll be there
To watch you fly
Soon you'll go
You'll make your mark
Soon you'll go
Takin' my heart
Soon you'll soar
Into the sky
And I'll be there
To watch you fly
When it’s time to say goodbye
I’ll be there to watch you fly
Go on soar to the sky
Spread your wings it’s your turn to fly
Cos I’ll be there I’ll be there to watch you fly
to watch you fly

Jones, Howard Soon You'll Go Comments
This is a very beautiful song, mr. Howard Jones. It's so incredible, but just a few weeks my dream came true; I found out that you actually will play in my country, The Netherlands, this year. The venue, Boerderij in Zoetermeer, advertises that you'll come with your full electronic line up and it will be partly celebrating the 35-year anniversary of Human's Lib. Yes, I have tickets, so happy!
Wow. This is lovely.
I'm still crying....I'm 54 years old.yes, first saw you on MTV in 1983 I believe..been a huge admirer of your music Howard but this song I do believe is my favorite...thank you so much for spreading so much positive energy to us all. This song is helping me deal with Dad's sudden passing 5 days after being diagnosed with bladder cancer. I've been in a horrible depression so thank you again Howard..I'm coping by losing myself in your music. Much Love, Suzanne Neese Idaho p.s. Hide & Seek has always been my favorite so both are my favorite songs!! LOL I missed seeing you on tour when you came to Idaho...it was the same day my mother had open heart surgery (yea, no stress in my life). About a week after Mom made it thru my cousin came to visit and low & behold he showed me a picture of he & you together. I was so happy for him but sad I didn't meet you. Just wanted to share. Take care, Suzanne Neese Idaho
Dear Mr Jones:I have always loved your music. I have always felt that Specialty would be at the top for me, as it kept me alive at the nadir of my life. This song hits me like no other has (and that's saying something). My oldest daughter is going to be leaving for university soon... to study aerospace mechanics. I will quite literally watch her fly away. God bless you for all you have written, and how you have always had a significant, very positive effect on my life.

What is your favorite Howard Jones album?
im a 47 year old man child with a very insecure dad I always blamed for my problems. now he's trying to connect with me since I've told my parents I'm suicidal quite often, and I realize the way I can help my dad is to stand up and be a successful adult now. He's coming to pick me up to go hiking this morning, and I came across this Hojo song. the greatest gift I can give my father is to be all I can be at this point with what I've got, and look at the positives. thanks Hojo for singing your heart, instead of trying to make a 'pop' hit for a quick buck.
howard jones, how do you do it, another perfect song with powerful lyrics, to bring a tear to my eye's again, when it comes to understand life, you always find the perfect word's/song to lay it all out. loved you in the 80's, love you now.
God bless you Howard Jones.👍👏
My daughter left for university this year. This song sums up my feelings perfectly. Thanks, Howard.
I first heard this song sitting in a hotel room after having spent the day moving my only child into her dorm. Talk about timing. Beautiful song.
This song is from the album Ordinary Heroes. Artists like Howard Jones is indeed a vanishing generation. I appreciated him in the 80's as I do now.
Ordinary Heroes

This is so heartbreakingly beautiful - reminds me of my daughter. TY Howard, thank you <3
Ho Jo still has the mojo. Poignant, beautiful, lyrically superb. The Human's Lib cover on the wall takes me back to 1984, when I bought Human's Lib on vinyl. Songwriting sadly is now a dying art. Thank god we have someone like Howard to restore my faith in music.
What another great track from Howard......thanks!
Thanks so much for this beautiful song Howard!! My kids are 15 and 16 years old now and this has me thinking of them. It's hard not to cry while listening/singing to this. Thank you for all of your wonderful music throughout the years. It has touched many people's lives. Peace2U, Kim
Thank you Howard. This song could not have come at a better time for me. Thank you.
