Jones, Howard - No One Is To Blame Lyrics
You can look at the menu but you just can't eat
You can feel the cushions but you can't have a seat
You can dip your foot in the pool but you can't have a swim
You can feel the punishment but you can't commit the sin
We want everyone
And you want her, and she wants you
No one, no one, no one ever is to blame
You can build a mansion but you just can't live in
You're the fastest runner but you're not allowed to win
Some break the rules and live to count the cost
The insecurity is the thing that won't get lost
And you want her, and she wants you
And you want her, and she wants you
No one, no one, no one ever is to blame
You can see the summit but you can't reach it
It's the last piece of the puzzle but you just can't make it fit
Doctor says you're cured but you still feel the pain
Aspirations in the clouds but your hopes go down the drain
And you want her, and she wants you
We want everyone
And you want her, and she wants you
No one, no one, no one ever is to blame
No one ever is to blame
No one ever is to blame

Jones, Howard No One Is To Blame Comments
I think this is the first song of his I ever heard, and I will never tire of hearing it in any day and age to come!
Getting ready for the Denver show!
Way ahead of his time ... words are so true
Thanks for the Music mate. The brilliant songs are like time machines, taking you back to when and where you were when you heard them. This is one of those, one of the best of those.
Great song like no other “
This isn’t the Howard james I wanted lol wtf
Doctor say's you're cured / But you still feel the pain.........
You can feel the punishment / But you cannot commit the sin..............
Unrequited love
I passed the 80's when I was teenager in Korea. It was lucky. I sometimes listen to only 1980 pops on YouTube.
Nostalgia!
I want the '80's back!
Get me out of this generic, autotuned, filthy decade!!
" is to blame " no one
I totally like this song did in 86 and now in2020
musta hurt a little
I used to say that the 1970s now seem so far away even though I graduated from high school in '79. The 1980s are now fading fast into the horizon. At least we have the music to show what young people like me at the time liked to listen to.
I graduated in 79 also.........and I feel lost in today's music because I just cannot relate to any of it today..........OMG, how I miss the days of old !!
released on my birthday. Ah, to be an 80s kid.
Who's here in 2020?🎼🎼🎼🌹
this refer to our pain
da blk american.
Faxxxs
The 80's , when some cheeze was mixed with enough depth to make it pretty awesome
Like a time machine, this one brings me right back
Song is a masterpiece
The great Phil Collins on drums !
This song speaks so much of my life. So much work, no reward
Not only do I love your music it sounds perfect on a good system
How many of you would trade the next 10 years of your life to Re-Live the 80's Decade 1 more time ?
Love this song, New York 1986.
At 51 years of age. Listening to this I remanence of loves lost.
I have no idea, but I get goosebumps when I this.
I love when he says "doctors says you're cured, but you still feel the pain".
I was the videos were clearer.
I was 12 in 1985. This song really formulated by adolescence and it always struck me so emotionally and affected me deeply b/c I grew up in an abusive home and an alcoholic family and I tried to commit suicide at 13 (but I made it!) and so this song is something I return to again and again to remind myself that I survived that hell and this song brings up such strong emotions to me.

Jakarta in the 80's. LOVE
IT"S ALL ABOUT REALITIES GIVEN MEANING BY THE LIMBIC SYSTEM.
Music was so important and relevant to us because we were the first generation to feel the destructive effects of widespread divorce.
My question is who wrote the Lyrics!!!
Such a powerful song!!! 👍👍👍👍
The story of Life!!!
puso todo de cabeza
This is in my top 10 of the 80's. So much I would change from back then. I would let the one boy who has always had my heart how I truly felt, he was my brothers best friend. He still is too and I will always be the "little" sister.
The first time I heard this song was March 31st 1986. It was a Monday and I was in the third grade. For some reason it gave me my first taste of hopelessness. I’m 42 now and still feel the same way.
The Secret of my success
Needs a modern cover by an band in different genre maybe, Disturbed!. It's a classic that's for sure!
Piss off.
Disturbed did awsome remake of sounds of silence by Simon and Garphunkle...they would make an interesting remake of this one
Timeless.....
Love this song and is soooooo true
What a great song
Nadie tiene la culpa ♥
STILL TOUCHES THE SOUL IN 2020 !
I remember exactly where I was the first time I seen this video on MTV. What a decade to be alive
2020 baby.
we had this, teenagers today have kpop, so sad.
Para vos MEP
2020 anyone 👂
I still love her after 34 years, even if she's married, she is my soulmate
Did she re marry?
Such a beautiful song by a very underrated artist. I remember being 12 years old when it came out, and loved it then. Here at 45 years old it has far more meaning to me, both lyrically and bringing back those childhood memories.
No one ever is to blame.
RIP Beth.
Wish you were here
2020 🍯 Happy New Year Everyone!
Phil Collins starts singing backup vocals at 1:44 in this music video.
How do you know
Also co-producer and drummer in this re-recording.
@Dawson Simpson Check the Wikipedia entry for Howard Jones.
I DID NOT KNOW THAT THANK YOU
Drummer here. The bell/ride pattern at 2:24 hits me just right! One of the best written pop songs from the 80s imo.
Please give a listen to Perfect Alibi's " not at home to heartache". 👍
And just like that. I’m in my first car driving down the road with my new found freedom on my way to school. What I wouldn’t give to go back and whisper a few clues into that kids ear. Cherish time with those friends, you will not be together for long. Put just a little more time and energy into school, you won’t regret it.
Me puedo pasar días más días y nunca me cansaría de escuchar mi música amo amo está mi musica
I have indelible memories. beautiful. unique.
Starts like

So many youtube commenters say the 80s were so great....for me it was horrible but the music was definitely better than the 70s or 90s and on.
"no juan ever
is to blame" hehe
ahhh Gen X. We might be a small generation but mighty in the music we grew up on. Howard Jones counts as one of the greats in that sound.
This song makes me cry my balls off. Damn I miss great songwriting.
I heard Howard on a radio interview not too long after this song came out.
He said it was about all of the beautiful women in the world.
You want each of them, sometimes they want you but you can’t have them (all).
You can try, but you can’t attain.
I would have died today be a backup singer for you in 1985.
Yes, I personally blame those who voted for con-trump. End of story.
MAGA 2020
I want the original version, before the Phil Collins was stuck in there.
Very nice song n music.., Phil Collins backing vocal n drums and Sting?
The 80's were incredible with songs like this on MTV and the radio, no other decade has produced so many unique songs that touch the soul and pull on your heart strings, for those who grew up with songs like this, we were damn lucky!
Yes, i was listening to this before hip hop was popular. Still great music.
People invading my home and life with zero respect... MANY RUTHLESS IMMORAL CRIMINALS ARE TO BLAME
NO ONE is to blame ? I beg to differ
indeed ! takes me back to the greatest Summer of my Life i fell in love with the greatest girl but was too young to realize it was true love for me which took me a few more years and a whole different couple of girls one of which became my wife, ex Wife , and still a freind to this day along with the Mother of my two children
Everything about my years in the 80s is gold and will be the greatest memories of my childhood.
December 2019 🥰 I still love... this song.... no one is to blameeeeee....
Who cares what year it is, just enjoy the dam music.
one of the most amazing songs ever! So much to it simply incredible! I wonder how long it took HJ to put this all together!
Always loved Howard Jones’s music, this one is about unrequited love. Maybe, one day, Trish Hodgkinson Lowe will see this comment and know how I feel. It’s been a long time but I will never stop hoping. Xx
Saw him at Pine Knob (Detroit) in the 80's, think it was the best concert of my youth.
I was born in 1970, making me a teenager for the entire 80's. It was everything people say it was, and so much more. I feel bad for literally everyone who didn't get to experience what we did.
@P C I am also from 1971.
I wish I could go back. And stay.
@💋 sunshineandstarlight 💋 me too
1970 was a great year 👍 on the other hand I can’t believe I’m about to be the big 50 😳
69 here, best decade so far
The best breakup song of the 80s, maybe of all time.
An other great song that supposedly has the wrong words...it’s supposed to be someone is to blame.
💕👍
I didn`t know that Howard Jones sang this.I finally see the video after all this time.
Such a peaceful, loving song! I miss these days!
I agree Teia. Heart rending.
Anyone else notice that bad piano note at 00:40?
random question time did auto tune exist in the 80s?
okay if somebody blames u for something, you just start singing this song! c what happens!
Love this song! Legend Howard! Not like the trash now days!!!
I'm starting to think that's not true.
Cassette tape ,walkman hit rewind then fast forward LOL
I dedicate this to cute but balding 6’4” Canadian giraffe I had a brief but fun fling with near the Mexican border in 1986..
Damn I need a girlfriend 😥
Felt that one...
Lane Williams Right?
perfect
What...did I miss him on West Coast US or something??? That suuuhuuuucks!
Lyrics like they were written by a Pisces ♓....
In 1988 Erasure had a beautiful and visually eloquent video for their signature-song "A Little Rspect." Too bad Howard Jones signature-song (also a ballad) is devoid of any symbolism or content that united with the music. It really was a great song.
Esto es una obra de arte...porfavor... Un pulgar arriba para este Temazo Melancolico Gracias Mister Jones por aportar al mundo de la musica..Gracias.
Produced by Phil Collins.
