Jones, George - Take The World But Give Me Jesus Lyrics

I've thrown it all away
That I might gain a life in you
I've found, all else is lost compared
To the joys of knowing you
Your beauty and your majesty
Are far beyond compare
You've won my heart
Now this will be my prayer.

Take the world but give me Jesus
You're the treasure in this life
Take the world but give me Jesus is my cry
Now I've seen you as the Saviour
I will leave the rest behind
Take the world but give me Jesus is my cry.

Into the world I go
That I might live this life of love
I won't be overcome for
you are in me and you are strong
For time and for eternity
I know I'm in your care
You've won my heart
Now this will be my prayer.

Take the world but give me Jesus
You're the treasure in this life
Take the world but give me Jesus is my cry
Now I've seen you as the Saviour
I will leave the rest behind
Take the world but give me Jesus is my cry...

That's awesome! This is the first song that my grandfather, Benny Barnes, ever wrote.

    Really nice

I loved this song and listened to it often when I was about seven years old. I'm now in my fifties and I still have that album. A few years ago I had George sign it after a concert. It's now framed, hanging in my home. My favorite singer by far!

promisesrkept well, I’m 13 and I love it. Lord, wish I could have met this great man.

Bad B33f I consider it an honor and a privilege to have seen him in concert 6 times. The first in 1985, the last in 2010. The last time I saw him my wife surprised me with front row center stage seats. After the concert, I waited outside the theater and he signed my childhood album. Those memories will stay with me to the grave. My other dream came true when I saw Merle Haggard in concert. It doesn’t get any better than Haggard and Jones.

  5. y.... ....

The master interpeter of a country gospel song; a great arrangement by King George.
