Jones, George - Love Bug Lyrics

Well, I was ruling the roost, had all the chicks to myself.
And suddenly it happened, that funny little feeling I felt.
Well, I tried to outrun it, but it finally caught up with me.
Tell me how can I run from something that I can't see?

Oh, that little bitty teeny weeny thing they call the lovebug.
Nobody's ever seen it, but it's got the whole world shook up.
It all started with a little bitty kiss and a hug.
It's a little bitty teeny weeny thing they call the lovebug.

Well, I always thought that I had me a pretty good style,
But I lost that race by a good old country mile.
Yeah, I was walking all around
With my head held way up high,
And it fooled me, hit me, really took me by surprise.

Oh, that little bitty teeny weeny thing they call the lovebug.
Nobody's ever seen it, but it's got the whole world shook up.
It all started with a little bitty kiss and a hug.
It's a little bitty teeny weeny thing they call the lovebug.

Yes, a little bitty teeny weeny thing they call the lovebug...

  18. T.... D....

It was synced. It's most likely a Fender Bass VI on the recording, a pretty common instrument for country music during this time.

  19. M.... ....

I know he's playing a Ricky but it doesn't sound like one though, it sounds more like a Tele or a Jazzmaster. Makes you wonder if it was a lip sync.

  20. S.... L....

Does anybody know the brand/model of bass guitar the bassist is using in this video? Doesn't look like anything from the major USA makers... possibly an European import? Italy perhaps?

  21. J.... W....

  33. J.... C....

    @ringbolt9 it is Johnny :)

  34. c.... ....

When i first saw this video five or more yrs ago, i assumed it was Kelso Herston playing that awesome 6 string Rickenbacker Guitar. I made a few inquiries and found out (thru Kelso himself) that it was not him, it was a guy named Jerry Starr. Also in the vid is Sonny Curtis on the steel, Ernie Reed on the fiddle, Paycheck (then Donny Young) on bass singing tenor, and Jerry. Don't know who the drummer is, sorry.

  35. B.... ....

Who is the guitar player? He sounds just like the guy on Dave Dudley's Six Days On The Road.....

  36. J.... L....

this video should be never ending

  37. s.... ....

this is great!! Paycheck , Jones and a badass hillbilly guitar playing robot with glasses.
    So tight and on it....

This is what jammin' country music is.

  38. J.... B....

look at that drummer blastin away what a talent

  39. J.... H....

    thats cause it is him

  40. L.... C....

This is the best George Jones; with the kind of haircut you can set your watch to. On bass is the Real Mr. Heartache, Johnny Paycheck.

  41. m.... ....

@cestesbrandese It is Paycheck. From 1962 to 1966, Johnny was the bass player, harmony singer and bandleader with George Jones. Paycheck had briefly worked for Porter Wagoner, Ray Price and Faron Young and was fired by all of them. But he found a kindred spirit in the Possum. Faron Young said of Paycheck, "I can't have anyone in my band who is crazier than I am".

  42. H.... ....

Me i'm 14 and a big fan a George but i need to go to one of his concerts to bad i missed him back in 2005 he was in my town but i didnt even know who he was.

  43. r.... ....

that looks like johnny paycheck singing with him.

  44. M.... ....

Best in the world of country ! If you like Johnny Paycheck, listen to his "Juke box Charlie" LP... No one can beat it !!!!

  45. k.... ....

And wearing a Mosrite strap no less.

  46. h.... ....

George sang this last saturday in Cary, NC.. I was very impressed and very pleased that he sung it :D

The crowd went wild for every song.. he's still the man and king of country! (always will be if you ask me)

  47. m.... b....

shortly after this vidio'' oh george told john son hit the road' as he knew john would make it on his own

  48. C.... ....

Nice plain Nudie suits, but it works. Nice early shot of the Jones' boys with Paycheck thumbing the bass guitar. What a talented bunch of musicians, backing two singing legends. Thanks for a great post.

  49. c.... ....

This is REAL country!! The way it USTA be !!!
Dig Paycheck singing harmony, Jerry Starr and that cool "Ricky" 6 string bass, and Sonny Curtis on that steel.... Smoooooth !! :^)
