He's saying that if all those worldly things happened, he will never say he made it.  Only when he gets to heaven will he say he made it.

He also speak's about getting a degree and owning a business, is that wrong for us to be successful. God did not design us to be poor and without, God gave us the tools to be great, smart successful people!

Thumbs down on this one. I liked his other song "no gray" but not this. We really shouldn't be desiring to "make it" in this world. we're supposed to not be conforming to the pattern of this world and wanting to "make it" as in be famous and rich, that's is conforming, because those are the desires of the people who are (of) the world. Even Solomon (NEVER) longed to be rich or famous, neither did he want to be poor, but instead he asked for wisdom and you know what happened?God blessed Solomon, not because he wanted to be rich and famous "to give God the glory", but because Solomon was humble and His sole desire was to please God.

Treble says speak those things that are not as though they were...God spoke and created the earth...the bible also talks about faith and hope...faith is the substance of things hoped for...any spiritual being has faith that things will get better and in hopes that their dreams come true.

242ThinkMedia ur right but its ok to want to be rich n make it. God wants us to succeed in all our endeavors but give Him the glory just as long as our desires do not out way or is a replacement of praising God.

I see what your trying to say, but this song isn't about him making it in the world but making it in heaven with the Father. If you listen carefully to song you see that he's talking about how he made it in heaven. In the song there's a verse that says"It wasn't me but God that gets all the glory, For without him letting it be, I wouldn't be able to say that I made it, I made it."

I see people on here saying to others who find this song isn't sharing a good message, that we should just listen  to what he's saying, that he's saying when he becomes rich and famous he'll be able to tell people his story and give God the glory. Come on now, lets be real and stick to scripture, we're not even supposed to be desiring to be rich or famous (to make it) no matter what you intend on doing when you "make it", 1 Timothy 6:9. "Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.". This song is not teaching a good message, It's not sin to be wealthy but desiring it shouldn't be what a Christian does. (If) you become wealthy it will only be if God will's it not because you desired it or prayed for it. In spite of him saying oh when he "makes it" he'll give God the glory, God isn't a fool he can see str8 through that veneer and see most people really just want fame and fortune, not God's righteousness. Maybe he wrote no gray after this, and that would explain what he says with loving the world and wanting to please God, I think he forgot the message in his own song.

Toooo many young Christians out there are doing the same thing, desiring to be famous and all of that and say it's all for the glory of God, chasing their selfish ambitions and cloaking it under the guise of, "will give God the glory with my fame and riches" when in reality when you seek fame it's glory for yourself you're seeking. Wake up ya'll, can't he give God the glory and tell his story without fame or riches, the answer is yes. Why is it so many people seek for  a bigger platform, Jesus being equal with the living God didn't even seek to make himself of any famous reputation. The bible said Jesus had a (lowly heart), where is that today in today's Christian's??? The message in this particular song isn't godly. We mustn't forget what we have been taught through the Holy Spirit to beware of the pride of life, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes. I repeat, even Solomon (NEVER) longed to be rich, neither did he want to be poor, but instead he asked for wisdom and you know what happened God blessed Solomon, not because he wanted to be rich and famous to give God the glory, but because Solomon was humble and His sole desire was to please God.

that's right...listen carefully to the words. When God lifts us up, we need to be careful to give the credit to Him, so there'll be no doubt about how we made it!
