Jon Foreman - Running From Me Lyrics
I'm stuck with these sins
I'm hoping maybe time can resolve them
I'm a lying, cheating, thieving coward
Who's trying to follow Christ
I'm hoping he can fix this old dog with new tricks
Yeah death is my only device
I said I needed room to breathe
I said I needed truth, break free
But all that's truth that I was running from you
Turns out I was running from me
There's a girl who lives down my street
She says the flowers take care of the bees
She tells me I'm poor and my daddy's at war
Who's going to take care of me?
Now if history is violence and sex
If I've caused offence
If I'm too direct
I'm just trying to talk some sense
I'm politically incorrect
I said, I said I needed room to breathe
I said I needed truth, break free
But all that's truth that I was running from you
Turns out I was running from me
La, la, la, la, la, la
Running away from me
La, la, la, la, la, la
Running away from me
I've been giving this a lot of thought
Who am I, who on earth is God?
The answer ain't kind and the reason's fine
But by God it's the only answer I got
It's the only chance I've got
I said I needed room to breathe
I said I needed truth, break free
But all that's truth that I was running from you
Turns out I was running from me
It turns out I was running from me
La, la, la, la, la, la
Running away from me
La, la, la, la, la, la
Running away from me

Sounds just like Conner Oberst from Bright Eyes
This ended up on the new Meat Loaf album. Very different but great!
a fan asked jon, and he said this song will probably be released on the next fiction family cd, which is a side project of jons with a guy from nickel creek, sean watkins. i'm stoked!
OMG I LOVE THATTTT!!!!
it's on the list... whether it makes it or not... we shall see!
I'm still miffed that I was the only one who voted for this song at my aftershow. REALLY people!
I think so. [:
Don't quote me on that. :D
Alrighty then! You're welcome!
Oh i have it now. thanks though!
I can send it to you, if you want. Send me a message of your email and I'll attach the mp3 [:
oh. gotcha.
you have the mp3? whered you get it? i was under the impression that they havent made a final cut of this song.
WOah! this is song is like the most openly religious song ive heard from them. love it!
Well "Christian" can be anything. All of their past songs have been Christian because they were written by a believer with the intent of glorifying God with his music. If you mean that his songs have more spiritual connotations, then yeah, i totally agree with you. Just look at White as Snow, the whole song is just excerpts from Psalms 51.
I like that too!!
Also, is it me or are Jon's lyrics getting a lot more overtly Christian than they have in the past couple records? I think that's cool.
This sounds like it might be a more Switchfoot song rather than a Jon Foreman solo tune but who knows
I totally agree! :)
What a wonderful song! :) loved it.
Jon is the man!
Lyrics, Rhythm, rhyme, voice, music, melody, freshness, humility, sincerity...he's got it all!!
I just don´t need more music than this, this is all I need to be happy in this life...go Jon and Switchfoot.
