Back in the late 70's, I saw Johnny does this tune live at the Bottom Line in New York City. What a fantastic show, he was incredible. RIP!!!!!!!

The original song from Traffic is still the best.

Nothing wrong with liking them both. Winter's soulful guitar kinda takes the place of Wood's haunting sax. Vive la difference!

You will also love Brian Auger and The Trinity and Brian Auger/Julie Driscoll Tippetts versions from 1969 and 1978, respectively. Both very well done. Auger's organ solo on the 1978 version is incredible.

well. Im 62 today and this song seems so fitting. truly a gem of a tune. should have been on the radio.but I took it and loved it and I guess its ok.RIP master. thank you for all the music that shook me up.

Yeah, it sure is a great song. The original Traffic version got very little airplay, too, if that's any consolation.

I grew up in West Point and Newburgh New York with Rick Derringer playing in small clubs without the media.  Back then there were no cell phones, no hidden cameras on a phone, just true music and yes, Rick Derringer was great I met him and was only 14 I didn't even know who he was.  Johnny was a legend.

I can't believe he's gone.  I truly cried my heart out listening to this song.

Can anyone load up Look Up? It seems missing.  I lent my album to a friend and never got it back. This album was special back int 70 when I saw them live. Good By Johnny! Thanks for the music.

RIP Johnny, you will always be the quintessential  blues guitarist IMHO, thanks for all the amazing music, this one especially, you guys killed it. One of my favorite covers of all time.

A great interpretation of the Traffic song from their second album. Johnny's voice sounds a little like Stevie Winwood's here but the blues guitar work is a step up from the original. Johnny makes a mistake here saying, "But in a way their conscience won't be taught" instead of "caught" but he can be forgiven for that. A beautiful job here.

I saw every concert that He, Edgar and Rick performed between 1971-1990 in the Philly area. Yeh.. I am THAT Old! I got to see Derringer at the Iron Horse Saloon (Ormond Beach) about 10 yrs ago. It was during the summer and TOO little a crowd... (wussies) Sometimes the elements just can fck up a great outdoor concert. BUT ~ Rick gave my autistic son a guitar pic. Rock on!

This is a good exemple to take something and make it better.

Origilnally done by the British group Traffic, which featured Stevie Winwood, Jim Capaldi, Dave Mason and Chris Wood.

A change of pace for Johnny; great chords, a great example of how someone can do someone else's song in their own style, and make it their own.Great drumming too!!!
