Johnny Winter - It Was Rainin' Lyrics

Well I know the sun ain't shinin', it looks like the rain about to fall
Well you know I believe the sun ain't shinin', looks like the rain about to fall (comin' down)
Well you know when I'm home with my woman,
I don't need no sun at all (not all all, man I don't mind)

Well you know, I feel so good that when I hear, when I hear that lonesome sound
You know I feel so good, I always got 'til I hear that lonesome sound
I been layin' on my bed takin' it with my baby, you know
And the rain be comin' down, yeah, be comin' down

(Go ahead, play a little bit now...)

(Yes, yes!)
(Wooo it is...)

Yeah do it again... do it!

Well last time it was stormy, you know I was down in New Orleans (yes it's a nice place to be you know)
You know last time it was stormy (it was stormin' bad) you know I was livin' down in New Orleans
You know it'd take a whole lot more than blood and water For me to keep my business clean

Oh yeah, I'm clean...

Oh!
Rain on, rain on...

  15. R.... L....

Johnny started tuning a whole step down in 1984 when he started playing the LAZER it had 10 on it and didn't like how they felt he was used to 9 to 42 with 24 3/4 Gibson. LAZER is 25 1/2 scale length he was not used to it so he end up using 10 -46 for the rest of his career and tune a whole down he love the sound of it also. Slide open E then open D later on. For slide have seen him Live use open A also.

    F.... F....

Fishin Fool indeed he is. RIP JOHNNY MY FD.

    F.... F....

Saw this tour in 1988, Omar and the Howlers opened in London Ont. Johnny was LOUD, not near as good a concert as the 85 or 1986 held at Stages in Kitchener. Johnny "live" usually played at a pace that was 2 times what was recorded and he'd solo like a MOFO.

  36. 1.... ....

    So nice... RIP brother.

  37. R.... P....

    love you johnny

  38. s.... c....

  40. L.... Z....

Here's the guitar tab for this track.
    https://tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/j/johnny_winter/rain_crd.htm

    L.... Z....

+LED ZEPPELIN Nice man, but why not use Johnny's tunning? DGCFAD

    L.... Z....

+Marco81blues I didn,t know it was out of tune, but ahh well it still plays ok.

    L.... Z....

@LED ZEPPELIN Yeah, Johnny used D standard through a huge chunk of his career, I not sure why, for me it sounds great, it gives more of that cowboy sound if you will, especially playing open strings. It doesn't matter much in this song, but he plays alot of blues in D, which as you know moves everything to the standard E positions,it makes some diference, also when he plays in the key of G. Anyway big Johnny Winter fan here :) keep up the good work new Johnny Winter tabs are hard to come by.

    L.... Z....

+Marco81blues Cool i will keep that in mind if I do more johnny tabs, I came upon johnny through his brother Edgar, another crazy albino dude, who is excellent multi instrumentalist. i,m not a big fan of detuning a guitar, i would rather play tunes in standard, it just does my head in tuning a guitar up and down ha ha

    L.... Z....

    good looking out''

  41. H.... M....

    I like this song

  42. J.... W....

    RIP Johnny :(

  43. E.... M....

still the greatest blues ablum that I have ever heard in my life, thus far.

  44. j.... m....

I guess Johnny needed to do this kind of commercially popular sounding stuff but it was by far NOT my cup of tea from Johnny. I always go to the crazy live AND stuff from '70-'71 that lights a raging fire under my ass…. Listen to Help Me live and you'll hear what I mean. This sounds like a boring polished Robert Cray song.

    j.... m....

He hated doing this stuff although it was by far better than most shit being done at the time.

  45. M.... A....

    bestia genial!!!!

  46. J.... C....

I am so down the blues sounds like disco'', sheeez and you think you have problems.

  47. m.... s....

NEVER forget you Johnny!! You are like a father for me - and a friend- such a long time I admire all your art of playing and singing! Yes, you are a very great artist!

  48. F.... B....

  52. e.... j....

rip could do with some rain today

    e.... j....

    edward johnson me too

  53. T.... H....

True Mr Winter was no David Gilmore, but I grew up on the both of them melody and speed(blues speed) Steve Via has amazing speed, but Johnny had blues speed which is different. He was a master not only for his playing, but his free spirit Willy Nelson look. It's done bro.

    T.... H....

    well said

    T.... H....

    many equals...none better.

  54. E.... ....

    What a loss.....what a loss..........!!

  61. M.... ....

Johnny and Edgar, will live on forever..<(")

  62. s.... p....

    Yesssss...

  63. J.... C....

Definitely his best song and one of the few that could have been commercially successful.

  64. S.... ....

I just found an old mixed tape I'd made off the radio, hadn't played it for 20 years. I was fast forwarding thru it when I heard this song. The tape player played a bit fast, so the vocals sounded higher & I didn't recognize who it was, but the lead guitar was like "Wow.. WHO is this, Clapton on guitar??" So I Googled some of the lyrics, & up came this song! I'm familiar with Winter's 60's & 70's stuff, but I never listened to him during his period - a bit more "rock", but wicked soloing!

  65. J.... C....

This is my favorite Johnny Winter song. It's pure genius. He's not well lately and plays BB Kings...check him out!

  66. B.... A....

@ShredMaster79 think he means underrated meaning in guitar magazine he qualified about 80 something in rank, jimi hendrix being #1 of course but it is a matter of oppinion and in mine they should both be #1

  67. F.... C....

THis is an amaing song, I love the feeling and the lyrics.

  68. m.... ....

Thank you. One of my favorite songs ever! XD

  69. J.... ....
