Johnny Winter - It's My Own Fault Lyrics

It's my own fault darling, treat me the way you wanna do
It's my own fault darling, treat me the way you wanna do
Lord when I was in love with you darling, Long time I didn't love you

Just to make your own paycheck baby
Bring it all home to me
I go out every night baby
And I get all mad about girls I see

It's my own fault darling, treat me the way you wanna do
It's my own fault darling, treat me the way you wanna do
Lord when I was in love with you darling, Long time I didn't love you

You used to stay home with me darling
Now you're going around with all the boys

You say you don't need me
Lord it's tough on my nerves

It's my own fault darling, treat me the way you wanna do
It's my own fault darling, treat me the way you wanna do
Lord when I was in love with you darling, Long time I didn't love you

Oh I'm down on my knees
Can't think what tomorrow will bring
Lord I'm gonna try to do better baby
And love you the best I can

It's my own fault darling, treat me the way you wanna do
It's my own fault darling, treat me the way you wanna do
Lord when I was in love with you darling, Long time I didn't love you

Johnny Winter It's My Own Fault Comments
  1. m.... j....

    This should have been filmed!

  2. H.... M....

One of the misterys of Rock n Roll is how this album became a seminal gem of music in Mexico, Winter was and still is one of the most revered guitar players of all the time in Mexico.. I play guitar because him, the hybrid of Americana in a total explosion, an albino from Texas (I know he was born in Mississippi but grew up in Beaumont) signing the blues... Derringer as his best... Thanks for posting !!

  3. K.... A....

Great blues track, I have been listening to this song for many years. Just wish the mic was not hitting the kick drum (you can hear it).

  4. R.... D....

Man, wishing I had a big fat blunt right now!

  5. R.... O....

I saw them at the Fillmore East. I think it was the 3rd concert I ever saw. Remember Rock and Johnny standing on either side of the stage, and the spotlights from the opposite sides highlighted them. What a terrific show. Both are stellar guitarists. I think this is the show I was at. I remember seeing Zappa there on Mothers day 1970, and this show was in the fall. I still have the concert brochure. I will have to look at it.

  6. T.... W....

Vraiment un très bon Blues à Redécouvrir Salut Johnny

  17. J.... P....

C'est le morceau, dans cette version, que j'ai le plus écouté dans ma vie. C'est la pierre angulaire de ma construction musicale. Y'a meilleur plus tard dans ce que j'ai découvert, mais y'aura jamais mieux.

  18. T.... B....

This song and the studio version of Hendrix Red House are among the best slow blues guitar songs ever.

  19. B.... W....

Crown Jewel of the Blues right here!

  28. D.... D....

This may be my single favorite electric blues/rock piece; specifically this recording. I wore the grooves through the album on this teack. Johnny & Rick Derrenger have such chemistry. Johnny's vocals are great. And the drums keep it rockin'. Everything's just right.

  29. A.... V....

    Pure magic

  30. h.... ....

  31. H.... B....

I hung around with him in the French Quarter about '69, '70. I knew him by the name Lightning; I didn't realize he was Johnny Winter. Just learned the two were the same two months ago.

  32. D.... M....

One of the best concerts I ever heard was Johnny Winter with Tommy Shannon and John Turner at the Capitol Music Hall in Wheeling, WV. He had a small Fender Champ amp on a folding chair wired through the PA and totally blew everybody away. He made perhaps 2 mistakes which he quickly corrected. To think...the backing band are the remnants of the McCoys of "Hang On Sloopy" fame! They acquit themselves well. One of my all-time favorite recordings.

  33. J.... R....

79 in Tampa....just jammed the entire concert, man miss that feeling of seeing someone just jamming,,,,cuz he can... MGTOW

  34. D.... L....

Sure do love Johnny when he put out his first few albums, My own personal favorite is akiller album salled '" Life is hard". Every song on it is really; really his best. Check it out!

  35. C.... N....

Best blues performance ever in the history of the world.

  36. E.... A....

  37. Z.... ....

Incredible!....does not get any better than this....licking the 24K fabric off gold panties...!!!

  38. J.... P....

The first concert I ever went to was this tour... a stop over in Columbia MO at the college homecoming event. I had no idea at the time what a monumental show this was. 1970 with Linda Ronstadt opening.
Unequaled to this day in terms of intensity and talent. RIP Johnny.

  39. C.... N....

Incredible, If I could this once I would never play again 'cause I could never do it twice

  40. R.... B....

    Rough and ready.

  41. D.... N....

I'm glad to see that so many folks really understand what they're hearin!! This piece of work is truly The finest example of what the very best truly is! The 4 musicians here caught magic in the bottle. John Dawson at his absolute peak. No other song makes the hair stand up every time I listen. 16 when I was blessed to discover the best that ever was!

  42. P.... ....

    Hands down!

  43. D.... H....

Paladium (Academy of Music) NYC '73, saw both shows with Edgar and Rick...

  44. m.... j....

  45. D.... S....

    The Best Johnny winter track

  46. L.... M....

An absolute Savant in Blues and rock and Roll music!!! Belongs in the Hall of Fame.

  47. O.... ....

Saw this band on the same bill as the Allman Brothers Band at The Fillmore East in 1971. Johnny was the headliner... but came on before the ABB at the late show that night . A night to remember.

  48. D.... H....

these two guitars jam together as good as it's ever been done.

  49. g.... m....

As Johnny would say later "Does that get it or what???". I first heard this as an 12 year old kid back in '71 and was blown away then. It STILL knocks me out.

  50. s.... ....

damn dude thanks a million for posting this great version!!! and bless johnny where er´he is...peace

  51. D.... F....

20 'DISLIKES'. I see the remedial class at the Mormon Deaf School have finally figured out how to get online.

  52. M.... F....

Johnny was going to play the Count Basie theatre. I had a ticket. I was so excited. It would have been about the 30 time I had seen him live. My friend who gave me the ticket called me, crying and said he's gone. What a shame. I willl always love him and his brother, Edgar. They were the bomb. Never heard the blues played better.

  53. E.... K....

This is the single best live recording of any blues in history. Nothing comes close, nothing.

  54. d.... j....

I saw Johnny Winter And at the Montreal Rock Concert, Autostade, May 24- 1970 (with Mountain, Jethro Tull, Jefferson Airplane etc) They completely blew my mind. One of the best live band I've ever saw with Cactus.

  55. b.... f....

I was lucky to have seen them

  56. d.... c....

I am lucky to have been able to see him in concert a few times in the late seventies. I only wished they would have put Mean town blues on Woodstock album- it would have catapulted his career further. I love the way he played- never holding anything back. He and his brother - what talents!!!!

  57. R.... C....

  60. V.... R....

we used to wait on a ticket line at Madison Square Garden at for 6 hours through the night to see Him....

  61. M.... M....

Johnny Winter was the best finger picker I have heard on a live album and I started listening to this album when I was 12 and I'm 58 now.

  62. b.... b....

that Austin has given us some incredible guitar slingers and JW and SRV are my top number 1's   .   all praise Austin Tx .

    excepcional

  66. B.... ....

Johnny Winter may not have been in a class by himself... But it sure didn't take long to call roll...

  67. c.... s....

Unbelievably fast and accurate finger work, maybe top five ever.

  68. m.... 5....

This track is a textbook example of just how far Johnny pushed the boundaries.

  69. L.... F....

    studio version is killin too.

  70. L.... B....

Someone once told me that Allman's Live at the Fillmore and Frampton Comes Alive were both recorded when they were opening acts for Johnny Winter. Anybody know if that's true?

    L.... B....

    LENNY BELLAFIORE no

    L.... B....

No.allman at filmore east was johnny winter and Elvin Bishop.
    Johnny Winter headlining.

  71. L.... B....

Winter's playing here was BB on meth, and it was these intensely beautiful and virtually uncopyable notes that in my book put Johnny above Eric in this bag of music.

  72. c.... ....

This Johnny at his best, using the fretboard as a playground, somersaulting and juggling at the same time.

  73. R.... W....

Saw him a few times at the Fillmore East - He Blew me away!

  74. b.... s....

Sorry Derringer couldn't hold a candle to Johnny on or off stage. I saw them both at the Albert Hall 1970 something or other, We had the first box on the left side. I can remember Johnny playing off Derringer, Also remember Johnny's boots with the silver lightening sewn on them.
Last time I saw Johnny winter live was at Victoria, where we had a stand up row with CBS Executives who claimed they'd booked the whole front for themselves. No chance my Girlfriend worked for the Agents. She scooped up the front row before they were issued. They even offered to re-site all of us, and give me a bung. No chance. Although by the second number The Vouge fasion photographer, his wife and two other musician friends who were with us had left because they couldn't stand the loudness. I was deaf for two days, and thought I'd permanently damaged my hearing.
I have spoken to a few others who were there that night. Everyone agrees three constants - It was Fabulous, very LOUD!
and it was most assuredly Rock and roll.

    b.... s....

This was the best band Johnny Winter had in my opinion. I've seen several of his bands. The last time I saw him it was a year before he died.

  75. B.... ....

He was just the best when it came to the blues. Man they played out of tune a LOT in those days. Those old Strats, one or two Johnny Winter bends or a few Whamy's and you were a half-step out ! lol. Hendrix would've loved a Flood Rose I think !

  76. R.... D....

    What a job by Derringer.......

    R.... D....

    René Disnard No kidding! Brilliant!

    R.... D....

Absolutely loved his playing in the song

  77. c.... ....

I believe Derringer was 17 years old t the time.

    c.... ....

    he( derringer) was 24 ( he's from 1947)

  78. k.... ....

    love derringer on this!!

  79. d.... d....

That intro involves so many licks that I've never heard from any other guitarist.

    d.... d....

+Sarah Paxton WELL said...I was at THIS show...18 yr old high school kid...WAY up there in THE best gigs I've witnessed...Seen A LOT, starting with Hendrix at Woodstock, 2 yrs before this gig...Rick Derringer with Johnny is one of THE best collaborations in rock history...

    d.... d....

    peter short kickass

    d.... d....

Doug, I read your comment about 2 weeks ago, and it stuck in my head SO much that I just had to come back and reply... cause you're 1,000% right. NOBODY had the mastery and sheer number of blues riffs that Johnny had. He plays more incredible blues licks in this song than Clapton, and Joe Bonamassa know combined. Everyone raves about SRV... and while I AM a fan, he was never even CLOSE to being on Johnny's level. Thats not meant to be a dis, its just a fact.
There has never been anyone like Johnny Winter, and I'd hazard a guess that we'll never see the likes of this level of blues talent in our lifetimes ever again.
    Good call, mate.

  80. U.... A....

Thanks Winter and Derringer, strong memories since 1973 when I first met this perfect blues.

  81. g.... m....

the best live record ever ...the interplay by hobbs .caldwell . derringer and winter awesome...

  82. K.... T....

Yeah bend me some STRINGS this morning

  83. k.... h....

Johnny at his best. his duets with Derringer, classic.

  84. s.... c....

sicuramente uno degli album live di blues elettrico più' potenti e vivi di tutti i tempi RIP JOHNNY

  85. R.... S....

The second live show I attended. It was at Pirates World in Florida. I must have been right around 15. 61 now.... First was Grand Funk Railroad.. think they had just released Closer to Home.. That that one was at the Miami Hai-lai Fronton .... I believe... Anyway, tickets ran about $5.50 -$6.00 back then.

    R.... S....

    I, was at this show

  86. l.... ....

The BEST Blues Song & Lead Guitar Playing of a Live recording ANYWHERE ! I saw him the exact same year from 15' away from rick Derringer at the Sunshine Club In Asbury Park NJ 1973 My ears where never the same . Every one from my school went to see Pink Floyd at Monmouth University about 4 miles away & i heard it was outrageous but then i would have missed this & that would have been tragic :) No one has come close since except Clapton & Windwood Live at MSG with Double Trouble

  97. V.... A....

Esto no se puede explicar con palabras
    Este es EL BLUES.

  98. P.... J....

Guilty of getting so into this tune that I missed my exit by ten miles ( friends were not pleased) "Were gonna slow things down get funky and play a little blues for you," always made me laugh.

  99. l.... g....

Johnny Winter was not only a great guitar player but an excellent, howling and
passionate singer. He had some serious vocal chops back in the day and sang very
well right up until he sadly passed away. Same with BB King, who blew away most
blues singers regularly. He never sang a bad note. Of course, we all think of their
playing but these men were the whole package in an era when you had to do it all
to be considered a star. Johnny Winter and Michael Bloomfield were the two greatest
American electric blues players of their time and showed people that white men
could and indeed did play the blues as well if not better than anyone. Not one of the
so-called guitar heroes from England could bring such excellence and pure energy
on a night to night basis. Not one. Only Jimi Hendrix and SRV are better, in my
opinion. You could fit Duane Allman in there, too. The best of the best. RIP, Johnny.
All the others are gone also and none will replace them. The only thing we can do
to honor them is to put on that lp, cd, or whatever you have and turn the sucker up.
    It'll cure what ails ya.

    l.... g....

    Perfecto frend

    l.... g....

Agreed. SRV shouldn't be mentioned. If you're talkin Johnny Winter, BB King, Albert King, Eric Clapton, and I mention Eric Clapton because he left him out, There's a very long list. But I wouldn't put SRV in the upper echelon. SRV was good. But not as good as those other guys..Johnny Winter has his own place in the halls of musical history. If you listen to both JW and SRV side by side, there's no comparison.

    l.... g....

It's so hard when you get to that level of playing imo. I like Rory Gallagher better than johnny, or SRV. Is he better than those 2 guys? Depends on who you ask. There all the best in there own way, to someone....

    l.... g....

That was so well spoken and the truth

    l.... g....

larry geetar Right On Larry... well spoken

  100. C.... M....

Hij is niet meer maar was een van de besten ooit!
