Johnny Winter - I'm Not Sure Lyrics

I can't say girl,
It's so hard to show, oh baby
I can't say girl,
It's so hard to show, ohhhhhh
Well if I die baby, if you know, if you know
You keep saying you need all of me
But that's one thing baby that can never be, hey
I can't say it's so hard to show, ohhh
If I die baby, if you know
I will love you baby 'til the break of day
But you will never keep me
If I don't want to say
Hey, hey, it's so hard to show, ohhhh
Well if you die, baby, if you know, if you know
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Just like I love you, baby
Gonna love somebody else
I can't make it with you gal
If you can't make it with yourself
I can't say girl, it's so hard to show
So hard to show, yeah
If you're dying baby, I'll help you know, ohhhh
I can't say girl, it's so hard to know
So hard to know, so hard to know
I can't say girl, it's so hard to know, ohhhhh
Well if you're flying, baby if you know

Saw Johnny and Edgar play this at the Fillmore East in NYC right after Second Winter came out. Just blew me away. One of the most epic blues tunes of all time. Kind of incomparable when you put Johnny and Edgar on one stage with the other classic players in the band, Tommy Shannon and Uncle John Turner if memory serves me well. By the way Johnny wrote this. Force of nature. Glad I got to see him again at BB Kings in NYC before he passed.

IMO Johnny is up there with the very best guitarists ever to grace the planet... if not the very best. But he never seems to receive the plaudits for his singing voice, and I think this particular track shows his voice to also be one of the very best?

  5. D.... S....

Great song by Johhny Winter saw him in 1979 in Toronto still remember it well with Jon Paris and Bobby T torello

Peace and Love

First time I heard this song it was in 1969 in Leopoldville ( Congo )and as a teenager , I was discovering life and pop music helped the young african guy from Congo to be an opened minded guy until today. And in that time , I could neither speak or undersyand any word in english but music is just music. I will be sixty years this year and Johnny Winter is still for me one of the biggest musician in my life. RIP Johnny Winter and long life to your music.

If your not a Johnny Winter fan, you not a fan of the instrument the Guitar. Johnny Winter died the undisputed champion of the instrument the Guitar. Johnny played live with Jimi Hendrix shortly after Woodstock, and Jimi played BASS GUITAR. Sounds like Jimi Hendrix wanted to hear Johnny Winter play Guitar. Truely the greatest guitarist that ever lived, when Johnny died a good peace of the Blues died with him, the man died his music dose not.

    p.... c....

    Yes I know!

  35. B.... ....

Great ensemble playing. Uncle John Turner powerful on drums.

  36. b.... ....

on the umpteenth listen it behooves me to mention that Edgar's piano is a match for Johnny's guitar on this track

  37. J.... J....

THE BEST. AND THE BEST TRACK.

  42. c.... m....

Hard to believe he's not more appreciated? An incredible talent!

  43. c.... ....

    This is badass!!!!

  44. w.... ....

I can't add anything to what these folks have already said. Suffice to say if you're willing to dig for the real stuff, I'ts out there, burried in the past.

  45. s.... ....

"Second Winter" is a masterpiece. A stunningly clean, flawless recording and nobody on the planet could lay a finger on Johnny's playing at the point in his career. He was simply phenomenal. Thanks for putting this up.

  46. s.... ....

This really is a GREAT track and beautifully recorded too. Who was the engineer? Tommy Shannon is supernatural on bass and John Turner is super solid on drums. Edgar adds trippy electric harpsichord to the groove. Johnny's vocal performance is stunning. His guitar playing combines blues with psychedelia seamlessly. The overrall effect is beguiling and trance-like. One of the finest moments of a great career. Play loud man!

  47. s.... ....

I bought this album when it came out back in the day and i still have this bass
riff in my head after all those years. It just pops up all the time.

  48. B.... D....

This double album only had three sides ,,,great tunes !

  49. c.... ....

When I heard this song for the 1st time .I ran out and got the Second Winter lp. This song blew me away!!! As a matter of fact, the whole lp..............

  50. R.... W....

This, IMO is one of Johnny's best vocal efforts along with "Memory Pain". Oh, and by the way he plays guitar too. There will never be another Johnny Winter.

  51. b.... ....

"I can't make it with you girl, if you can't make it with yourself."
