Johnny Rivers - Moody River Lyrics
Moody river more deadly than the natalest night
Moody river, your muddy water took my baby's life.
Last Saturday evening I came to the old oak tree
That stands beside the river where you were to meet me.
On the ground your glove I found with a note addressed to me
It read : 'Dear love, I've done you wrong, now I must set you free'.
No longer can I live with this hurt and this sin
I just couldn't tell you that guy was just a friend.
Moody river more deadly than the natalest night
Moody river, your muddy water took my baby's life.
I looked into the muddy water and what could I see?
Tears in his eyes and the prayer on his lips
And the glove of his lost love was at his fingertips.
Moody river more deadly than the natalest night
Moody river, your muddy water took my baby's life.
Moody river more deadly than the natalest night
Moody river, your muddy water took my baby's life.

Àdoro essa também! 💐💔💐💔💐
I agree!!!!!!!!!!!
Todas dele são lindas.......
I like this better than Pat Boone
Much better than Pat Boone's version
#hello😎👉 #Johnny #Rivers 🎸 fala sério o cara é #Show... ✍️ 👌 👏 🎺 🎷 🎤 🎶 🍃 🎵 👊 👊 👊
I like this version, got some energy.
Rhino: Story is of a guy's girlfriend(or wife?) who cheated on him. She didn't have the heart to tell him in person, so she ends up killing herself by jumping into the river and drowning. Before doing so, she leaves him a farewell note telling him what she had done. She anchored the note with her glove. The verse: moody river, more deadly than the vainest knife, is just a way of saying that the river that took his love's life was more deadly than if she had killed herself with a knife.
No hoe would ever do that -- GET REAL : ) lol
Interesting rendition of this classic. Still like Pat Boone's best though.
I like this version by johnny, but my favourite version is by Chase Webster.....
Will check it out .... thanks
musica originamente lançada no lp jn action 1965
Thank you for posting this, its great. Could someone explain what 'vainest knife' means? I like it, lol, but i don't get it. :)
I think the lyrics are ''vanest night'
@David Piercy I always thought it was "keenest knife". Look up the definition of "keen". That would make sense.
why is every river in every pop song muddy? Johnny did a couple of these, Thank God we have the EPA today
@Titan52berg No way, this KILLS ol' Pat's,
THIS ROCKS!
I love a lotof music by Johnny Rivers...but this tune is definitely performed much better by Pat Boone!
I can agree wholehearted....and KITTY WELLS does it better....yes, I like Johnny Rivers also...saw him live in VA but he was not friendly to his fans....:(
So many songs by him that I like.
This is such a sad melody!
But--it´s very good!
In USA this song was released on the LP "Johnny Rivers in Action", that was not released on Brazil til 1976. In the 60's, the songs from this LP were released in various LPs (as this) and singles, and some remained unreleased here until 1976. This is the rare mono version, not released on CD yet.
