Johnny Mathis is my all time favorite singer and musical inspiration. This songs reminds me of my mom, and cold winter evenings or any evening night. Such a beautiful haunting song

This music makes me feel nostalgic about a time and a place in history that I was not part of. Well, at least not in this current lifetime. 😏

My first name is Sunny, and yup, my eyes go from green to gray when I'm upset. Who would have thought!

My very favorite Mathis song. Also from his first years of popularity, but unfortunately the tune never seemed to make it big.

Number 1 favorite song of mine. When I was in high school I wore out the grove. I met the lovely man in the early seventies and got to tell him how much I loved it.

Fantastic music and the greatest singers.

This is a great example of a singer making you think that what is merely a good song is really a great song. Blossom Dearie and Johnny Hartman could do that too. I guess most of the great ones from Sinatra on down could too, given the motivation and a good arrangement.

Going through a transition after a 10 year marriage. She was always sunny in my mind but it wasnt so. I will keep her in my "...memories that fade."

I was born in '49 but this was the music my mother listened to; a woman who had never met a man of color, having only seen American black soldiers in WWII when she was a teenager.  So we grew up in a household devoid of racism listening to Johnny Mathis and Nat King Cole, etc. And our values are those that she instilled in us. RIP mom and dad.

Yes, I'm a hopeless romantic cuz I grew up listening to Johnny, Andy Williams, Jack Jones & all the Motown soul music in the '60's. But that's ok, glad it was in the house for me to hear.

For less than three minutes, everything was beautiful in the world!

I was lucky enough to see him in concert (at Wolf Trap) a couple of years ago. It was amazing. His register is lower, but richer and still as smooth as cream.

This has always been my favorite version of the song. I'll probably replay it over and over.

Smooth & breezy - this is a triumph of mellow blues-ish orchestration that makes you sigh. It is a story-song that sets you in a scenario where whatever the sadness . . . there is hope.

I introduced this song to my 14 year old daughter who fell in love with it... she is in high school choir and I wanted to introduce her to some really awesome music my parents introduced to me... and now she wants to learn these songs.... makes me happy that she has found such a love of such songs like this...

I play in a local (St. Louis area) big band ensemble, and we play this song on occasion in the quartet. I'm an alternate bass player, and I do get quite a few of those gigs, since our regular bass player plays in multiple bands around the St. Louis area.

OMG this sounds soooooo good. So much soul, so much passion, I can't keep from swaying when I hear it.

This has to be one of his best performances and every time a hear it played on the radio, I think back to my Happy Days. When I was a young man I could imitate Johhny's voice so perfectly that many listeners thought it was the record player with one of his hits playing. I still have a great voice at 71 and I can croon with the best of the ballad singers even at my age. Thanks to Johhny Mathis, I have good memories to carry into old age along with his great music. Sal, I didn't know you to be a singer. But you darned sure know "best" when you experience it. "When Sunny Gets Blue" was and remains very special.

There is no black singer today who can even be in the same sentence as this man.
