Johnny Horton - The Mansion You Stole Lyrics
The mansion I own has captured your heart
You said it was love dear but you lied from the start
I wanted true love but you wanted my gold
Someday you'll be sorry for the lies that you told
But someday my darling I know that you'll see
A house without love can make you so cold
And you will be lonely in the mansion you stole
You said it was love dear but you lied from the start
Someday you'll be sorry for the lies that you told
You've stolen my heart and you cheated on me
But someday my darling I know that you'll see
A house without love can make you so cold

people dont no wot music is today
Love this recording. Johnny Horton should be more well known.
No one has ever got close to this natural man's talent. Not even elvis.
Major, major country voice !
Lord why we here more songs like that now
One of Johnny's best.
Solid gold music right here!
Thanks Johnny so much for wonderful music. Brought up on this rest in peace your music will live on xxx 😍😘😍
Hater's !!! They know NO music !!!
I love very much johnny
does it not seem that all the great singers died young?
How old were Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin and Bing Crosby when they died?
@Rene LeClerc Tony Martin made it to around 98.
@Rene LeClerc all were older before fame & were not all that above average
a WOW is not sufficient to describe this song...but what else is there
choice to all
this is a great
WHEN LIFE WAS SIMPLE AND LOVING
another classic from the master.
This is a good article about Johnny.
https://tshaonline.org/handbook/online/articles/fhort
he don't mean an actual mansion in the song, when he says mansion he's referring to himself
you got what i meant, and putting caps into what i said really changes nothing. we're all adults and i hope we can all read.
lol i'm not even gonna..
@Milton Moore You are correct. He is talking about his home. She didn't love him, She only wanted what he had.
@Daisy Flowers
Thanks. Stewie doesn't have two brain cells to rub together!
Certainly a beautiful one from Johnny, who is most remembered for The Battle of New Orleans.
Novelty songs like
the one you referenced will
always outsell the
deep, touching and elegantly lyrical romantic ballads with which
they compete.(Google: Fibich, POEM FOR ORCHESTRA(This
has the original
"Moonlight Madonna" melody), Ragna Schirmer on BRAHMS RHAPSODY(lots
of my remarks are
buried within the replies of others),
The Everly Brothers on TEMPTATION,
and for a change
of pace, these
episodes of WHAT'S MY LINE
(Linda Darnell, at
16:00,), John Wayne at 19:00),
(Francis the Talking Mule at 15:00), and (Tyrone
Power at 17:00)😃
Opened my new stack of index cards to take note of your suggestions! I have started dating them so I will know which are the oldest and need to be the next step on my path of great suggestions by the infamous Milton Moore! Thank you, Milton for filling many boring hours with songs I enjoy!
All the pleasure is
MINE!
A legend lost way too soon...never replaced!
This immortal
performance
belongs in the
Pantheon of the
greatest country music
recordings in
history.
I agree!
Lovely meaningful song
Johnnys, songs are sweet,What a singer one of the best

The best of country....lost him way too soon❤️
I liked his recoding better that didn't have all the background singers . Bio I still get chills when I hear. I still remember the day he died. I cried as he was and still one of favorite singers.
Strip away the gorgeous background ground choruses
from ANY recording and it
becomes impotent! Hard
to imagine someone like you
who thinks it
would be an IMPROVEMENT!
I have been listening to Johnny since the 50's. He had an earlier recording of this which was even better than this. Less Strings and allowing his haunting voice to be enjoyed
All Of his songs are pretty good•
Apparently there our 39 people who dislike this song and all I can say some people just don't have any taste for true country music!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's it! You
are spot on! Some
people, for instance, don't have a taste for
magnificent classical music
which has endured
throughout the ages, especially
grand opera.
Go figure. I love
them both. Can't
understand why
some folks get in an uproar
over this issue. If people
don't share one's taste in
food, furniture ties, clothing, hair styles, autos, TV shows, films, pets, sports, the
opposite sex, religion, vacation sites,
collectibles, paintings, literature,
WHATEVER, they can accept that. But differ
with them over
a song, and they
become overwrought and oftentimes
downright nasty. Fortunately, and
gratifyingly, you
are not one of these intolerant,
narrow-minded
lunkheads who
fill the comment
pages with
ascerbic diatribes over
someone simply not caring for a song. Sensible
people simply
don't care why
someone hit
the dislike button. And I
notice that virtually ALL of
the people who do get upset over the dislikes never
comment themselves on
what it is THEY
themselves actually like about the
song in question, whilst
people who hit
the dislike button rarely ever leave a comment about
what they don't
like, so obviously it is
no big deal and
nothing to get
in a twist about.
While on the other hand oftentimes the
dislikers of the
"dislike button" hitters engage
in name calling
and profuse profanity, in addition to coming off as not the brightest bulbs
on the Christmas tree,
illiterate, and
infernal Jackasses, to be forthright
about it. Visit the channels that feature BAD MOON RISING by Credence Clearwater; CALIFORNIA DREAMING by Mamas & Papas; & HOUSE OF THE RISING SUN by The Animals, and psychopaths and various hot-heads have
left comments
actually wishing for the dislikers to die excruciatingly painful and hideous deaths! It's just something we have to suffer through
while reading
the mostly affable, sensible, heart-
warming, and
informative comments.
Regarding this
performance:
Johnny Horton
was REALLY singing from the mountaintop
on this one! When God was
handing out the
most beautiful
singing voices,
the late/great
Johnny Horton
was among the
first in line!
Respectfully.
Peace!!!
Ramsey propteries no some people are just plain stupid
He sang with passion he put feeling into his songs you can almost see what he's singing about
Am I the only 15 year old here??????
I assume this means you like
the song. Congratulations
on finding it!😃😃
12 years
Johnnys, songs are sweet and sentimental.
Johnny's Greatist Hits album was the first one I added once I got back into music. I took a long hiatus from country.
This will always be my favourite Horton tune.
Welcome back!
You couldn't have
selected a finer
album!😃😃😃😃

Brings back old but beautiful memories. I first listen to Johnny Horton's songs way back in High School in the 70's. Has been always meaningful & are still now.
damn im old
Ditto !!!! But music was great then i don't know about you , but from the 90's backwards i sure miss.
Now this country music at in very best What a singer one of the best
I don't regard this as Country but it is still a great song and JH was a great singer.
+Robert Jackson
You must have
a peculiar criteria for what
you consider to
be country.
Yep REAL country!!
Thomas Haverstock I loved Johnny Horton for years, I love all for the love of a girl.

Tone Deaf Morons will always be around....Such Is Life!
After hearing this song case closed why this man is not in country music hall of fame?
Ron McMunn he died too early
Dying too early did not keep Hank Williams out of the COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME. And Hank was several years
younger than Johnny, who died
at age 35. Plus, Johnny could sing
circles around Hank, who was a
great songwriter,
but lacked the
most important thing for a singer,
a beautiful, mesmerizing voice!
Ron McMunn https://tshaonline.org/handbook/online/articles/fhort

56年前我的招牌歌曲!
記得在高一時(1963年)校刊有篇關於Johnny horton, 的文章.好感性.其他歌也很好聽:all for the love of a girl, whispering pines ,lost highway.when the spring time in the Alaska..,.. don't miss!
Johnny Horton then...Johnny Horton now...Johnny Horton forever. If you like this try "Counterfeit Love". Hell! every song he sang was aces. So glad he recorded.
My dads spirit lives through these awesome songs. So blessed!!!
The song he sang"all for the love of a girl". don't miss!
Awesome song!!!!!!!!!
Darn money grabbing Woman, makes me glad I'm not rich. Make enough to get by :-)
There must be 14 people somewhere on the planet without a heart!! How can anyone not like this? This may be Horton'S best vocal effort. Haunting.
Prob 14 rap lovers
@sunny56763
Or 14 (now 17) gold diggers.
For me, it's a first
place dead heat
photo finish betwixt this one
and "Whispering
Pines." His voice
was "other-worldly!"
Michael wolfenbarger A Beautiful song💯
Michael wolfenbarger 72 now. Just that many people with no taste in music.
This song is so beautiful and Johnny Horton sings it perfectly.
This is beautiful and sad.
Kay Boyer
I've always preferred this flip-side song to the 'A' side 'North to Alaska.'
Thanks.
Real talent!
As I had always been wondering what the story is regarding the song, is this song about someone who cheated love towards someone and that the person lied all the way through?
go to wickipedia or go to google and type in the song sometimes it will take you to a site that tell about songs and thier writers
Thank you
Absolutely fantastic pitch perfect vocals Johnny Horton one of a kind

Okay I cannot believe that I am addicted to this song! LOLs but it does have a good message
Johnny Horton, one of the greatest male singers ever colored the world of entertainment.
His male/manly voice is astonishing.
I do remember he had parts of Deans car in his. Apparently, the car is cursed.
lovely song, such lovely words...
Thank you so much
ขอบคุณครับ ที่กรุณานำลงเผยแพร่
very natural.
Lesson song #1
this is a very very good rendition of a truly deep sentiment this is a new one on me but i will listen again
A great singer with great songs of America. Was it true the car he died in was owned by James Dean who died in it also?
Your daughter is absolutely RIGHT. Your good karma rewards you in this life. Congratulations!!
Absolutely TRUE.
So very well do I remember Johnny Horton; I was young and single. Why the hell did I get married and ruin a good thing? Oh well, my daughter maintains we come back for another life and next time I'll get it right. Now I've my 2nd very good wife and my wonderful daughter from my 1st. Johnny Horton was among the best and I well remember the day he was killed. Goodbye Johnny; sing with the angels now!
Burn it to the ground. So many want the possesions not the person.
No. Sell it and give
the money to
charities!
Love this song one of my favorites by Johnny Horton.
This is so true many people only care about possessions and miss the deep meaning of life, what would you gain if you gained the whole world but lost your soul!
Johnny Hortons career short but SPECTACULAR.One of a Kind talent. Thanks for Great upload.
This is the true version.
