Johnny Horton - Got The Bull By The Horns Lyrics

I love the brunettes, the red heads and blonde haired gals
Yeah, I done it since I don't know when
Use to go down the line and love 'em all
Then I'd start all over again, I'd start all over again

I've got the bull by the horns on a downhill drag
Things are better than they ever have been
Yeah, I missed a lotta lovin' in my lifetime
But I'm never gonna do it again, I'm never gonna do it again

As a boy in school I guess I done pretty well
All the girls hung around me then
But I'd get shy and I'd let 'em get away
But I'm never gonna do it again, I'm never gonna do it again

I've got the bull by the horns on a downhill drag
Things are better than they ever have been
Yeah, I missed a lotta lovin' in my lifetime
But I'm never gonna do it again, I'm never gonna do it again

I've been a-rompin' and a-stompin' all over this town
Tryin' to find the places you've been
'Cause I missed your huggin' at last around
So let's go 'round again, yeah let's go 'round again

I've got the bull by the horns on a downhill drag
Things are better than they ever have been
'Cause I missed a lotta lovin' in my lifetime
But I'm never gonna do it again, I'm never gonna do it again

wonder if that is Grady Martin playing guitar  also  was he the one who invented the Martin guitar?

    j.... s....

I remember this from the Bear Family CD but also looking at
"Praguefrank's Country Discography" it's definitely Grady Martin. Every
session he did starting in 1956 was with Don Law producing and Martin on
guitar, Hank Garland was also on most of them after this one.

ok thanks. i don't know about Grady, but evidently Hank was a very highly sought after session man back in the day.

This song came out when I was a year old but it stuck with me - I used to dance to it!

    Great Johnny!

  15. l.... ....

Yeah, the guitar was great. I read it described somewhere as "Luther Perkins on bennies." I also like the attempt at slick production, which failed and therefore made it sound even better.

  16. b.... ....

loved the guitar in his earlier songs....

  17. w.... ....

I have another version of the song. Never heard this before. Thanks for post it

The best! My first musical hero. Nobody controlled that yelp in his voice as well as him. As a singer, Elvis had nothin' on Johnny Horton!

    J.... P....

I don't know I think Elvis was a bit better but Johnny is pretty awesome
