Johnny Cash - Love's Been Good To Me Lyrics
I have been a rover
I have walked alone
Hiked a hundred highways
Never found a home
Still in all I'm happy
Once in a while along the way
Love's been good to me
There was a girl in Denver
Before the summer storm
Oh, her eyes were tender
Oh, her arms were warm
And she could smile away the thunder
Kiss away the rain
Even though she's gone away
I have been a rover
I have walked alone
Hiked a hundred highways
Never found a home
Still in all I'm happy
The reason is, you see
Once in a while along the way
Love's been good to me
There was a girl in Portland
Before the winter chill
We used to go a-courtin'
Along October hill
And she could laugh away the dark clouds
Cry away the snow
It seems like only yesterday
As down the road I go
I've been a rover
I have walked alone
Hiked a hundred highways
Never found a home
Still in all I'm happy
The reason is, you see
Once in a while along the way
Love's been good to me

Knowing how sick he was when recording makes the words mean so much more. It feels like he's sitting across the kitchen table telling you truths.
because ur not allowed to leave the kitchen?
This is one of his best. I remember sitting in Florence after saying goodbye to a very special lady and listening to this. It was perfect, god bless you Johnny.
Hope for you, you've got closer with this special lady in the meantime... Once she is special to you - get on...
@Steffen Pollex plot twist, this special lady left him for the plumber
I like how johnny made changes to the song, makes it kinda like his own but the original song is called lifes been good to me by Frank Sinatra. Nice cover tho! (:
Actually, the original by is called "Love's Been Good To Me," written by Rod McKuen for the album *A Man Alone*, perhaps Sinatras most underrated work. Cash does a masterful version here in the winter of his life.
I love this song!!!
Is it just me or are all the songs from the final days of Johnny Cash's life tearjerkers?
Most of them are, some aren't. All these songs from his last years have a poignant quality to the not least due to his trembly voice.
They really are
I still can't believe how great this song is. I have it on repeat and don't suspect that will change for a couple of weeks...
