Johnny Cash - I Shall Not Be Moved Lyrics
Well lordy I shall not be, I shall not be moved
I shall not be, I shall not be moved
Just like a tree that's growin' in the meadow (down by the water)
I shall not be moved
On my way to glory land I will not be moved
I'm like a tree that's planted by the water
I shall not be moved
I shall not be, I shall not be moved
I shall not be, I shall not be moved
Just like a tree that's planted by the water
I shall not be moved
I shall not be, I shall not be moved
Just like a tree that's planted by the water
I shall not be moved
Well I'm on my way to glory land and I shall not be moved
On my way to glory land I shall not be moved
I'm like a tree that's planted by the water
I shall not be moved
Oh well
I shall not be, I shall not be moved
I shall not be, I shall not be moved
Just like a tree that's planted by the water
I shall not be moved
On this rock of ages, I shall not be moved
On this rock of ages, I shall not be moved
Just like a tree that's planted by the water
I shall not be moved
Glory, glory, glory hallelujah, I shall not be moved
Glory hallelujah, I shall not be moved
Just like a tree that's planted by the water
I shall not be moved

I am an avid atheist, even what some might call an anti-theist ;-)
But I Still understand and Feel Johnny his Sentiments in this.

Oh well.
In a perfect world this would be mainstream
Johnny is in that perfect world now.
I loved his voice when he got older.
Thanks for your comment.
me too!!!
God gave us Johnny Cash and so much more
Yes, He did.
beanscot I never knew it would be so hard to miss someone you didn't know directly
And Mississippi John Hurt, who made this song :)
all the lyrics in the internet are wrong, can anybody share the lyrics by this actual version?
he won't be moved now he is 6 ft under
His body may be but not his soul. Johnny Cash lives on the other side of eternity with his Savior.
A'int no grave gonna hold my body down
I like this song because that god has been there for us
Yes, He has and will continue to be.
You have good uploads! Thanks for the story.
This is one of my all-time favorite country gospel songs by Johnny Cash! I also believe that it's a message of passive resistance (as if to say "you'll go this far and no further and I'll stand stiff as a board in front of you to prevent you from going further")
+J. Schoenborn Thank you for commenting. The song is from the first Psalm in the Old Testament.
The name of the father son and Holy Spirit IS JESUS, i say this out of Love to all.
So true!
It’s 3 distinctive entities the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. All God but all not the same. Jesus is the man form of the Son of the Father. You must know who Jesus is otherwise you don’t know the truth.
Johnny Cash hunted moose to death for fun ,also he sings consistently flat throughout this song. If you sometimes can't reach the 'water' note - don't sing it. Just thought I'd mention it.
+John Smyth - If you can't handle it, you certainly don't have to listen to it!
He is like everyone has an opinion no matter how ill formed and unimportant
He hunted moose to death to be a mighty warrior as God is the moose are in a better place anyways God gave us Dominion over animals for a reason
He was crying in heaven you jerk don't assume he can't reach that note and he sings plainly for a reason because he was simple and he wanted others to be
you're all over the place with this comment bud. what is your point?
Thank You, Abba God, for the Truths sang so marvelously by Johnny Cash, etc.,

"Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures: And that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the scriptures"

Thank you for your comment.
I still see him on TBN specials ...some oldtime songs there,,,,that are not here at all.smile

Cash is using the real name of God Jehovah The father of Jesus :)
+Stéphane Perras - The "real name" ? I have no problem with the use of "Jehovah," and I'm reasonably certain that God doesn't either (depending on motives and application), but if you look it up, you will find that linguistic experts say that YHWH was improperly translated into "Jehovah," and "Yahweh" is the more accurate translation - although we truly cannot pronounce His Name accurately, no matter what - at least not while we reside here on Earth.
I say this (while admittedly not knowing your motivation for your post) because too many people like to degrade other Christians - and other Christian's beliefs - over the issue of the Name; and invoke a mistranslated version as their ammunition. I guarantee THAT is not done "in the Name of God!"
If you are simply reveling in [your version of] the Name of God, then hallelujah! I'm glad you enjoy Cash's song! But if you are being legalistic about it, you might want to reconsider.
Fred Doty you are partly right but as long as you are a child of God he will not mind. 😊
Glad he uses God's name. So many people do not use it. Jehovah's name is a tower, where I run when I am scared. I shall not be moved.
I take it, you are a Jehovah's Witness.
@ Kenny Dobbins...you must not be very familiar with Scripture. Do some digging...try the Psalms...you'll find many verses of our Lord being our high tower. Many Christians call God Jehovah...that does not make them a Jehovah's Witness. If you're going to "debate" theology, you'd better start studying!!
thank you
johnny has moved me too ..
That's good. Thank you for commenting.
Johnny Cash has moved me .
Thanks!
@leraymond777 You're welcome!
Love it!!! Thank you so much for this video. :-)
@TheKINGsCobra Thank you for the Scripture.
@VIGILANTI1 Here are verses found through Google:
If I trust Him ever, I shall not be moved;
He will fail me never, I shall not be moved,
Just like a tree that's planted by the waters,
Lord, I shall not be moved.
On His word I'm feeding, I shall not be moved;
He's the One that's leading, I shall not be moved,
Just like a tree that's planted by the waters,
Lord, I shall not be moved.
Johnny's rendition is better; so says I
P.S.thanks for posting the video and these lyrics
@VIGILANTI1 You're welcome.
@sweettina2 Thank you!

Nice video - many memories in those pics!
Yes, it is. Thanks for commenting!
I think this must have been one of my old worship leaders favorites by how often we sang it. I love the song too. I used to sing it often when I was the mother of a determined toddler!
He's nearly grown but still remembers me singing it! : )
Thanks!
Love it! Love the song and Johnny singing it. I enjoyed the video too, some nice pics of Johnny throughout his life. : )
Thank you for sharing this wonderful video. I have always loved this song. I am so glad that God can use even flawed human beings...
Amen in a good old song from Johnny Cash.
