Johnny Cash - Bad News Lyrics
Ha ha ha come on bad news ha ha
Well bad news travels like wild fire goodnews travels slow
They all call me Wildfire ha ha cause everybody knows
I'm bad news everywhere I go
Always gettin' in a trouble and leaving little girls that hate to see me go
But I wouldn't choke I broke their rope and they had to let me go
Cause I'm bad news everywhere I go
Always gettin' in a trouble and leaving little girls that hate to see me go
Now from north to south east to west the story is the same
From one state to another I have to change my name
Cause I'm bad news everywhere I go
Always gettin' in a trouble and leaving little girls that hate to see me go
Well now I've picked peaches in Georgia I lumberjacked in Maine
I've been hired fired and jailed in any town you can name
Always gettin' in a trouble and leaving little girls that hate to see me go

The perfect song for Johnny Cash, and he absolutely nails it! That crazy laugh and snorting sound like he’s high on coke. A true American icon.

Bad boy.

I like to think Johnny Cash snorted a bit of coke before doing this one :D everything he does is intense, even that sniffle xD
Could be haha. He could have been a little strange sometimes, I know he was when I saw him in 62. (Chuckle)
Well he did amphetamines so yeah
He's clearly off his tits...
He was into pills not coke. It was Waylon Jennings (Cash's roommate) who was into coke. ;)
Of course I hate to think he didn't

I Met Johnny Cash IN 1969

Lembit Punapart i am with you on that.
first time i heard it.
and i know there has got to be more unreleased songs out there
Kenny Dobbins yeah but its ok on this.
if you don't like cash
then you kiss my ass
Never been a big country fan but I always remember this song from my dad's record collection. It's classic. Now that I've heard it again after all these years I gonna start getting into more country. Especially cash.
I'm not a big country music fan either, but I do like "Outlaw" country, like Cash, Waylan Jennings and Merle Haggard, some Willie Nelson as well.
Naked Planet well good boy. Now pick up that new John D. Loudermilk tribute album by various artists. John D wrote and originally recorded this song. As much as I super love Johnny Cash and met him twice once hanging out with him for 20 minutes alone, John D. Loudermilk does the best version of this song but Johnny's obviously is superb as well.
Nope, Cash's version is the best.
It's off his "I walk the line" album 1964
thank you Johny
We love that song, that is sooo right, bad news travels fast !!!
Been performing this since '69.with a sightly heavier Mowtown feel.
when was this recorded??
Fantastical!
haha that werent no cold
Geez, it's a shame he had such a bad cold or whatever it was that day... hear him constantly snorting and snuffling?
(Tee-hee-hee!)
Good old JR had a great sense of humor!!!
What a cool song, I don't think I've ever heard Johnny do this and can't imagine anyone else doing it as good. Thanks for this super post and I'm grateful to my good friend Tuks for the share. Now I'll be hitting that replay button a few more times, it's great being able to listen to JC while I'm sipping my coffee this morning.
Cause I'm bad news, everywhere I go...hehehe :-)

Evilist Laugh Ever
great song, thanks so much! rip dear johnny, we sure miss you!
That laugh in the song is priceless and it was a John D. Loudermilk song.
That's actually Norman Blake on the dobro; Cash started using him on sessions in the late '50s and he appeared on most of the Columbia albums, playing a variety of instruments. Cash introduced Blake to Bob Dylan and he appeared on many Dylan recordings.
I think he dropped down to a low c (C2), at least. Maybe lower occasionally. Listen to him also at the end of his live performance of Casey Jones, right here on youtube.
Oh my, It's been years since I've heard this one my friend. I have to thank you muchly for sending me this. One of his best if I do say so.
I love it! Absolutely great! I love how low he drops his voice on "that hate to see me GO". Just awesome!
Johi2410 Bb1
whats his register for his voice
Well, maybe unusual is a better word? All irony and dark humor. Not exactly the usual sugary sweet Nashville song, you know. But gee, guess weird is not the word here, my mistake pal, can you ever forgive me? Love his vocals here. He was the best.
He hardly ever did this one on concerts, I think. It's a weird song, but shows how original he was.
Finally on YouTube. One of the greatest cynical and dark-humored songs by JC. Noone does that better!
