John Prine - Just Waitin' Lyrics
The old maid's a waitin' for leap year to come, the crooner's just waitin' to sing
The old cow's standin' by the Bull Durham sign, just waitin' for the grass to turn green
The bar-fly's waitin' for an easy mark, the hitchhiker's just waitin' for a ride
The lifetimer's waitin' for a prison break, the beachcomber's waitin' for the tide
The city slicker's waitin' for the country boy to lay all his money down
You know everything comes to standstill and nothing seems to make a turn
Worm must be waitin' for the early bird, I guess the early bird's waitin' for the worm
Nobody wants to do nothin' just waitin' to get a finger in the pie
Waitin' for a call for a big quiz show or a waitin' for some rich uncle to die
Katy she's waitin' at the garden gate, the moonshiner's waitin' at the still
The gambler's still waitin' for that Ace in the hole and I Jack's still waitin' for Jill
Everybody's waitin' for something, but nothing seems to turn out right
The congregation's waitin' for the preacher, the preacher's just waitin' for the groom
The groom's just waitin' for the June bride and the bride's just waitin' for June
Sunflower's waitin' for the sunshine, violet's just waitin' for dew
Bee's just waitin' for honey and honey I'm just waitin' for you

Everyone needs more John Prine and or Hank Williams . We need to heed these words in these times .
If a person never listened to John Prine music, well shame on them cause he speaks the truth in pretty much all of his crazy own way creating a way for us all to understand life through his music...God Bless John Prine!!!!!
Outstanding video.John Prine is simply the best.We are all just waiting for something or someone.
Listen to my first John Prine album in 1973 with one year left to serve in the Army. Every portion of phase of my life has a Prine song attached to it. The man wrote and sung the soundtrack to my life. That's not as remarkable as the fact he did the same for everyone! Long live the troubadour of my life!
Good on you!
Mike B amen brother.
A former employer and a navy veteran turned me on in 1975
Got hooked on Prine's lyrics the first time I heard Sam Stone. So many wonderful lines and observations from his lifetime of rambling.
What a vivid mental picture painter...
I LOVE JOHN PRINE!!!!!!!!

John Prine songs are like gravy: they make everything taste better. Thanks bud
Love that John Prine / Peter Paul and Mary chord strum...about the only thing I can do.
Long live John prine guy I worked with on horse farm turned me on to him many years ago he was kind of a old hippie. Still listen to him can't wait to see him live
I love this - only came across the song on spotify during the week. I'm a long-time John Prine fan and have seen a few concerts. I have no idea this was a Hank Williams song - Fits John like a glove and John, if you ever read this, check out Chet O'Keefe's Ballad of Jimmy and Janice - Chet couchsurfed with me when he was guesting for Nanci Griffith a few years back. He'd just written the song and played it for me, wondering if it was good enough to play at Dublin's National Concert Hall - It was and he did.
He also made a guest appearance on me 'Silly Old Man in a Hat' channel here - where he was rudely interrupted by my cat walking across the computer keyboard as it was recording the performance.
I remember the look on Ma's face when I played Please Don't Bury Me.
What a brilliant singer
If... "Ninety- nine percent of who you are is invisible and untouchable." as Buckminster Fuller had quoted... Artist Like Williams & Prine go along way to prove it wrong with Their towers of songs! 61617
The sweet, quirky brilliance of our beloved John Prine !!!!!
Such a great song, sung by America's greatest living troubadour. Hank Williams & John Prine - two of the best joined by one song.
Been a fan since late 60's. Just felt I needed to leave a comment to thank you for sharing your talent with us
