John Mellencamp - Teardrops Will Fall Lyrics
I read your letter, darling
Tears filled my eyes
All of your promises you made
Were nothing but lies
So I turned your photograph over
And when I dim the lights in my room tonight
Teardrops will fall
Teardrops will fall tonight
Tears I can't hide
Tears that I'd rather keep
Deep down inside
Tears fall and love is gone
Beyond these walls
And when I dim the lights in my room tonight
I'm gonna pray tonight, baby
Hoping you will hear
And maybe you'll right
All those wrongs
And dry each tear
I'll sit alone tonight
Hopin' you will call
And when I dim the lights in my room tonight
Teardrops will fall
Teardrops will fall tonight
Tears I can't hide
Tears that I'd rather keep
Deep down inside
Tears fall and love is gone
Beyond these walls
And when I dim the lights in my room tonight
Teardrops will fall
Teardrops will fall tonight
Tears I can't hide
Tears that I'd rather keep
Deep down inside
Tears fall and love is gone
Beyond these walls
And when I dim the lights in my room tonight
Teardrops will fall

Tears filled my eyes
All of the promises you made
Were nothing but lies
So I turned your photograph over
Face to the wall
And when I dim the lights in my room tonight
Teardrops will fall
Teardrops will fall tonight
Tears I can't hide
Tears that I'd rather keep
Deep down inside
Tears fall
And love is gone beyond these walls
And when I dim the lights in my room tonight
Teardrops will fall
I'm gonna pray tonight, baby
Hopin' you will hear
And maybe you'll write all those wrongs
And dry each tear
I sit alone tonight
Hopin' you will call
And when I dim the lights in my room tonight
Teardrops will fall
Teardrops will fall tonight
Tears I can't hide
Tears that I'd rather keep

I do like this version but i have to say the Ry Cooder version is my favourite.
a real john mellencamp all time classic: tear drops have to fall
Grande !

..this song really touch me..i swear....john
love this song
Superb......!!! nothing beats the Beat & the Lyrics..!!!!!
i went thu this in real life!
I Like this one , what a great Poet ( Writer ) . I've got to catch your show when you roll in to NC . Keep it John
He didn't write this song.
VH1 Eat a Snickers. Why? Because you left this song up to CMT when you're hungry. Better? Better.
Sadly VH1 quit playing music videos and this song was considered country music yet country stations refused to play it since they didn't know it was country music to begin with. Radio stations have policies where they stick with playlist rules.
Kevin Piland here's the more sad part as well. This I have not heard on the radio and the fallowing several albums he released none of his songs have been played on the radio anymore. Only his classics on classic rock stations and stations that play music from the 80s to today but not his newer stuff. Very sad.
i really wish he could play for the vets in my town.
Boy can this guy paint a picture with words!!!
He didn't write the lyrics.
Sturm graduated high school in 1977. Lisa Germano left the band and Sturm took her place. Sturm is still with the band and is getting ready to tour.
Who is the fiddler in the video at 0:11, is that Lisa Germano or Miriam Sturm?
Sturm.
@Tom Roberts Is she a sweetheart and she is a very pretty girl and that was supposed to be Lisa Germano at 0:11, wasn't it??
At 0:11, why is she pretending to play a fiddle? How do you know Sturm??? Was Sturm 45 or 46 in 2003??
At 2:10 and 2:11, are those tight black leather pants Sturm is wearing and why do you think those pants are too tight on her and why is she wearing them???
Who is it again at 2:10 and 2:11, I think that's Lisa Germano, isn't it??
Andy York!!
there's like 4 other versions. but this one is the best
+lucasmellencamp
Many more than four. I grew up with the Wilson Pickett version but this is good.
Linda Ronstadt is one of my all-time favorites but I like jcm better
I used to live at the corner of 6th and Morton. I love this song.
I can't believe my ears. John Mellencamp covering a 1959 Dicky Do and the Don'ts song. (with a little help from the "Boss".....Interesting!!!
doowopforever what do you mean help from Springsteen?
That's not Springsteen.
Forget Springsteen...... Mellencamp rules
nansemand both are phenomenal lyricists but I find Springsteen more entertaining
Chalk and Cheese, Mellencamp rules.
YOUR THE BEST JOHN !! BEST SINGER/SONGWRITER EVER. KEEP ROCKIN IT BUDDY TILL YOU DIE SUDDEN. NOBODY COMPARES TO YOU, YOUR THE BEST EVER !!! RMFT !!!!
This is a good rendition. That has a lot of drive. His vocal style works great here. The fiddle is a great addition. Yes Ry's version is so unique. I love that one too. The record plant live version.
Cooder is the man. very nice note! A favorite version.
I think most of us have been there at some point in our life!
Well said John!
love it!!
John Mellencamp's songs move me! He is a class act, and in a class all by himself! (*_*)
Thanks a lot for this video!
John is the best. I'm 36 years old and have been a fan since as long as I can remember. I love to take road trips to small towns and I have gone to Seymore IN three times. (twice going and coming from Chicago) My first trip there was just to see Chestnut St. and The Chatterbox. I sat in the Chatterbox and was told great stories about John as a kid and even had my bar tab taken care of by the locals amazed that I would choose their small town for a destination.
john mellencamp a ''true'' american trubador
