John Mellencamp - Play Guitar Lyrics
You may drive around in your town
Ina brand new shiny car
Your face in the wind your haircut's in
And your friends think you're bizarre
You may find a cushy job and I hope that you go far
You better learn to play guitar
[Chorus:]
Play guitar-play guitar [3x]
You got your eye on the cheerleader queen
You're walkin' her home from school
You know that she's only seventeen
She's gonna make you a fool
You know you can't touch this stuff
Let me give you some good advice young man
You better learn to play guitar
[Chorus]
All women around the world want a phony rock star
Who plays guitar
You can pump your iron and shine your shoes
And wear your hair just right
You go down out on cruisin' street
'Cause you want to score tonight
Ra da ra da ra da
And you really want to show your scars
Forget all about that macho shit
And learn how to play guitar
[Chorus]

Listening to this tune i knew within the first 10 seconds that this song is going to be relentlessly repeated on my Car's CD player until the song loses it's novelty or until my ears start bleeding, whichever comes first. 👍 Great tune..
Great song...ironically, it could use a better solo.
OMG. Gonna buy one! 😁
So u can score some tuna?
How can anybody NOT like this song??,....besides the 40 fuckers concerned about all that macho shit.
Imagine sorting the mail to this tune. It is much like playing piano. Fun fun fun. RESPECT our US mail carriers. They are having the time of their lives sorting your mail :-)
Then they have to go out into the world to contend with bad dogs and cats. The fun just keeps going. I should know. I rounded a corner on a one lane dirt road to be faced off by a Bull of all things in the middle of the road. I was driving a red car. I tried to pass it but it then faced off and I backed all the way for almost a mile without looking back again. I had to approach from another side street to finish delivering the mail that day. Rural mail carriers drive their own cars, not USPS trucks.
Wtf? Random
Forget all about that macho shit and learn how to play guitar! I love this song! 🎸🎸🎸
You may never see your U S Postal service mail people the same way again. We actually are all on the same page! Just say hi to you mail person and share a joke about the dogs and cats that they have to contend with and see if they don't laugh it off and tell you that it all comes with the territory. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kn3ymQB4iqQ

You may drive around in your town
Ina brand new shiny car
Your face in the wind your haircut's in
And your friends think you're bizarre
You may find a cushy job and I hope that you go far
But if you really want to taste some cool success
You better learn to play guitar
[Chorus:]
Play guitar--play guitar (3X)
You got your eyes on the cheerleader queen
And you're walkin' her home from school
You know that she's only seventeen
But you know that your a fool
You know you can't touch this stuff
Without money or a brand new car
Let me give you some good advice young man
You better learn to play guitar
[Chorus:]
All women around the world want a phony rock star
Who plays guitar
Well you can pump your iron and shine your shoes
And wear your hair just right
You go down out on cruisin' street
'Cause you want to score tonight
We all want to strut our stuff
And you really want to show your scars
Forget all about that macho shit
And learn how to play guitar
At least he Can Still Play guitar even if his Politicks went left field
Not really. He's not that far off the center it's just that politics have dragged America to the far right. And money is infested in our entire government. He's done some good stuff with farm aid regardless. Gonna play guitar
Good. fuck trump
Oh yeah....great sierra, Mr. Mellencamp. Play guitar!!!
John's telling the truth here. I once asked my late father who had a 50 plus year career as professional musician and entertainer why did he ever learn to play guitar and what his inspiration was for doing so. His response? "To meet women. How do you think you got here?" A couple of weeks later, I played this song for him since he'd never heard it before. His response? "Smart Arse."
👏👍Nice. Very nice 🎶🎸😁😎.
Sounds like you have a good dad 😀👍🏻
John was the shit in the 80s and 90s well today too forget all about that moncho shit and learned to play guitar
2:29. He couldn't come up with anything that fit, so he just made up some nonsensical lyrics
that's never happened in a song ever before or since
Ikr? That part is the reason I disliked this song.
See on the 11th in Saginaw, John
Jelly of you both...😢. John is the definition of "American-coolness". Amen?
