Jesus...masses of people sit in songwriters workshops & think if they've got a hook...they've got a song?. They spend their lives consumed in theory pondering how to write a hit song & 99% never do & never will. A bug crawls up Mayer's ass, he calls a few friends, plugs in a few ancient pedals, creates an ungodly tone. Guy's are dicking around for years on Guitar Rig, Amplitube or whatever chasing a tone... Those dude's jam for a bit, Mayer sits on the crapper & jots down some lyrics and BAM!!! -WTF!!! - It's actually frigging hilarious!... Just goes to show ya - He's a special talent. Glad he got the hell out of Dodge. Everybody wants what he has & there ain't enough of it to go around. The energy Vampires almost got him!!

@Sammy Cruz things take time. it typically takes much longer to get out of a habit than it got to get in it. once your out, it can kick you back in. quite normal I'd suppose, considering it's a habit. i hope it's possible for you to atleast get some professional support? One of my favorite solos of all time. Such restraint and allowing it to breath at first and then brief spurts of speed. Great phrasing.
