John Mayer - Great Indoors Lyrics

Check your pulse it's proof that you're not listening to
The call your life's been issuing you
The rhythm of a line of idle days

Scared of a world outside you should go explore
Pull all the shades and wander the great indoors
The great indoors

Lamplight makes the shadows play
And posters take the walls away
The T.V. is your window pane
The view won't let you down
So put your faith in a late night show
I bet you didn't even know
Depends on how far out you go
The channel numbers change

Scared of a world outside you should go explore
Pull all the shades and wander the great indoors

Though lately I can't blame you
I have seen the world
And sometimes wish your room had room for two

So go unlock the door
And find what you are here for
Leave the great indoors
Please leave the great indoors

Check your pulse it's proof that you're not listening to
The call your life's been issuing you
The rhythm of a line of idle days

  12. K.... S....

It takes me back to when I used to listen to good Neil Young songs back in the ,70's and get really good energy from it. Different music-same feeling. A feeling of creativity!

    Agoraphobic anthem

  27. V.... ....

    It's 4.30 a.m. and i'm drinking belgian beer o this!

  28. j.... ....

This record took me from mere pop/rock/indie power/bar chords to that beautiful new horizon of jazz/blues influenced guitar. John Mayer changed the landscape in 2001 for singer/songwriters, all the while influencing an entire generation yet to be fully realized.

  29. T.... H....

In 2001, I was 13. John Mayer inspired me to pick up and learn to play the guitar that year.

  30. J.... T....

God...this song brings me back memories when I was in kindergarten....2001....I miss those years...too bad I'm only in 10th grade and I got to start to put my childish things away. I'm gonna try not to let that happen XD

    J.... T....

    Hey buddy
    How're you now.

  31. S.... ....

Chrelizorter says it best. the melody of this song is breathtaking. that is so well phrased. i think that's what makes john a great musician; he's not all about technicality and being skilled at guitar, he takes the time to write melodies that can strike a heart. on a side note, is anyone having problems "replying" comments. i'd really like to applaud Chrelizorter, but i can't seem to reply.

  32. J.... ....

why are people always leaving comments now saying ' im 16 and i listen to this! " Not that mind blowing.

  33. S.... ....

    i was in kindergarten...

  34. H.... L....

a see alot of radiohead in this song.......homesick alien....john had his influences also from radioheads music

  35. M.... M....

I love to listen to this song when it is pouring outside....

  43. b.... ....

@FestFalang You pretty much nailed it. I always thought "Room for Squares" was my life while I was in my 20s and single (I'm 31 and married now). Back then, I could relate to EVERY song on that album, especially "Great Indoors."
