John Lennon - Remember Lyrics

Remember when you were young
How the hero was never hung
Always got away

Remember how the man
Used to leave you empty handed
Always, always let you down
If you ever change your mind
About leaving it all behind
Remember, remember today

Don't feel sorry
'Bout the way it's gone
Don't you worry
'Bout what you've done

Just remember
When you were small
How people seemed so tall
Always had their way
Do you remember your ma and pa
Just wishing for movie stardom
Always, always playing a part
If you ever feel sad
And the whole world is driving you mad
Remember, remember today

Don't feel sorry
'Bout the way it's gone
Don't you worry
'Bout what you've done

No No remember, remember
The fifth of November

Lennon's greatest album I loved it back in the early eighties when I first brought it. Brutally honest and painful at times to hear a man's soul laid bare. Essential listening. If you want to know John Lennon then listen to this album.

Great album!!! Ringo on drums, perfect!

Lennon dispells here the heavily produced music of Sgt. Pepper & Magical Mystery Tour as his only way to make unforgettable pop music. Yes Strawberry Fields forever and I'm the Walrus are incredible milestones in contemporary music, but even this pared-down gem is great in its own right...there was no one quite like John Lennon, the greatest Beatle.

  16. Juan carlos Sanchez flores

I remember , today, December 8 .....wish never happened.

  17. Tiago Tymniak

I live in a small town in the south of Brazil. I bike every evening, and there's an almost hidden place with a tall fat tree growing from since I were a kid and crossed that road. Whenever I'm really down, I bike there and listne to this album. It really looks like the cover's. My father used to love this album. It all links me to a warm refuge.

Me gusta escuchar este Álbum de Lennon, es tan propio de el el ofrecernos genialidades y a su vez por que mantiene cierta esencia al sonido Beatle.

November 5. Guy Fawkes Night, also known as Guy Fawkes Day, Bonfire Night and Firework Night, is an annual commemoration observed on 5 November, primarily in the United Kingdom. Its history begins with the events of 5 November 1605 O.S., when Guy Fawkes, a member of the Gunpowder Plot, was arrested while guarding explosives the plotters had placed beneath the House of Lords. Celebrating the fact that King James I had survived the attempt on his life, people lit bonfires around London; and months later, the introduction of the Observance of 5th November Act enforced an annual public day of thanksgiving for the plot's failure.

    Werewolf O. London, Esq.

@Kosi! 'The weakest track?' That's like having 10 .44 Magnums in your collection, while owning one .380, and saying it's the weakest.

    Price Pittsburgh

    They dont Remember

    Scott Johnson

    SO underrated

    Werewolf O. London, Esq.

@Scott Johnson He should've released this as the single instead of 'Mother.'

    Jason Meadows

@Kosi! This is my second favorite song on the album, behind 'Mother'. I've always considered 'Working Class Hero' the weakest song on the album.

  57. Blood Gourd

    This album is pure alchemy.

  58. John Grij

John Lennon: Vocals, Backing Vocals, Piano.
    Klaus Voorman: Bass.
    Ringo Starr: Drums.

From 4'05 to 4'06... so Ringo ! magical drumming

  60. JD Aeon

I love John Lennon's works - The disappointment of the time we all find out all that mainstream "belief and language' was pure bullshit and we're on our own but free to forge our own way / create our own path... Don't feel sorry for the past, we all did the best we could with what we knew, had and were at that time. John Lennon knew. He's written & sung it... And in order to make it all less individual and more collective, he appended to the verses, an English (historical) shocking figure such as Guy Fawkes, the fellow who wanted blow it all away. In the song, John, he does end it with the sound of a big blow-up / explosion, and perhaps to show us all that he was no Guy Fawkes! He did leave behind all the mainstream rubbish he found so that he could create his own way. John was larger than life. R I P John Lennon

  66. Owen O'Hara

    Yes,cool time change.

  67. fruitcake4t

chord change in this is mesmerising

  68. TheTrousersinc

This song is an anti Yesterday. “Always remember today.” It’s a subtle stab at Paul.

    slimshine918

TheTrousersinc ~ Not likely, not on this track, there's no evidence or documentation. If Lennon took a stab at McCartney in a song, it was in How Do You Sleep, on the Imagine album.

    subg88

"I believe in yesterday" is the single dumbest line of lyric in the entire Beatles canon. Makes me cringe every time. Practically ruins an otherwise excellent tune

  69. Thomas Becker

For me the album was better than imagine.

    A B

Of course it is. This is one of the best albums ever made. Easily the best Beatle solo album. This is Lennon before he tried to out-pop Paul (trying to write a huge pop anthem).

    Joe Jacovino

i'm glad that ringo dudn t have any records after they split too

    margus kiis

"POB" and "Imagine" is like made by two differentd guys. "POB" is idiosyncratic, harsh, sheer, sincere, avantguarde, daring. "Imagine" is just an american AOR album with Harry Nilsson influences.

    Anderson

    @John Grij perfect!!

    subg88

If you took the John tracks from Double Fantasy and Milk and Honey and turned it into a single fantasy, it would have been in contention.

Tell ya what I remember, a video of an young Indian boy having his head crushed under the wheels of a school bus and everyone going about their business like nothing happened, and it wad this wanker that made India and it's rape culture popular back in the 60's, he deserved to be shot.

    Richard Weiler

You're too much of a deep thinker for the rest of us

  80. Michele Paccione

I love this song. But I miss Paul's incredible bass lines.

    osvie01

This is actually my favorite album of either Beatle or the stuff they did together. The best example along with the The Velvet Underground debut album of less being more. The most powerful instrument being John's voice, and him opening his soul. John was such an open book, not afraid to share painful traumatic memories. This wasn't him going for a pick me up Beatle sound, this was the opposite of any of that.

    Jackman The4th

@garethb1961 this album has Ringo on drums!!

    garethb1961

@Jackman The4th OK. I never knew that. But you'd agree the accompaniment is opposite to the Beatles.

    Jackman The4th

    garethb1961 yeah, it’s pretty different

    Jackman The4th

@justgivemethetruth the Gunpowder treason plot of 1605. it was a failed attempt to kill King James. hence the loud explosion at the end of the song

Ringo was so slick about it.

    Lawrence Watson

@John Grij Ringo played on "Love".

    teppolundgren

@OklahomaRockCafe It does. I find it hard to believe that Ringo would have the chops to pull of a change as smooth as that.
It would be difficult, even for a skilled drummer.

    CARLOS BUSCATORE

    @OklahomaRockCafe No, it´s not ! THAT´S VERY RINGO

    mr pozitivac

Listen to Ringo's drum rolls on God from the same album. Every single one is different throughout the song!

Yeah Paul gave Ringo some of his throwaway garbage, meanwhile George and John wrote expressly for Ringo giving him quality material
