this is one of the greatest albums ever. Thematic, consistent and honest.

Opinions are like butt holes. We all have one.. To me, this song has much more to do then just the context/lyrics he's written. Forget, "Just a boy and girl trying to change the whole wild world" The song deals with dysfunctional personal relationships one has had, but never addresses a remedy. ., Especially concerning each of us. People are becoming more isolated from each other. Now everyone communicates via impersonal electronic gadjets, phones, etc. There is a dysfunctional aspect using modern modes of communication. Bottom line? Educate/ Learn, follow your Heart

I am listening this song deeply after the airplane crash in Iran, when the military of regime caused the death of 178 innocent people. This is exactly explain that sad tragedy . When military killed innocent passengers and young boys and girls protested against them in streets, they shot them and didn’t want to be blamed. They said we were courage and honest enough to say it was our mistake and stop talking about victims of insane. There insane 😔 now I am afraid of everything and everyone more than sun. John u knew all of these 😔

This whole album is incredibly personal, pretty much therapy for Lennon. Anyone who knows about Lennon's childhood can't listen to Mother without realising how tormented he was for much of his life.

John Lennon was incredibly naive, and at times very cruel, but he was also an idealist, which I respect; we needed realism in those times, as well as the present. Screw all eternal optimists AND pessimists. There is only ONE truth, and it cannot (must not) be coated with sugar or vinegar. Humans are a seriously flawed creation, and being as such, we cannot help ourselves sometimes. But we can try... will we? Realism is a bumpy road, but at the end of the road, you have a clear conscience.

Idealism and realism are very different world views. That being said I think he oscillated between the two.

listened to this song for the first time on the roof of my house while it was snowing a few months ago. the snow silently fell, blanketing the forest floor of my backyard, a single hawk gliding through the sky...i had never felt so much peace in being alone. my favorite by lennon for that very reason. thank you for such a beautiful song.

I was given this album by my older brother when I turned 7 (he was cool like that). I would spend hours listening to it ,awestruck and baffled by emotions that I couldn't possibly understand, I didn't even know who the Beatles were. Now at the age of of 54 and 40-42 years since the last time I listened to this album, I am still startled by the wave of emotions that are washing over me.....

I remember the day this album came out and I picked it up at Sam Goodys record store. It was I felt some of Johns deepest works. I Loved this song.

Has nothing to do whatsoever with being ahead of his time. Just has to do with being real and a gifted songwriter/musician. Its not like music has gotten any better since this song came out.

Loneliness is the worst feeling a human can have, but from a long personal experience it can and does change. I hope with all my heart that your granddaughter will find the connection like myself, and she will appreciate it more than everyone else.
