How I perceive this video...

Some people are in this world where they could not be bothered by the issues of the world, such as wealthy caucasians, republicans, and even wealthy Afro-Americans such as rappers as depicted in the video.
Some people in this world see and feel it but could do nothing about it because they don't have that power, being the hotel employees.
John is management, hence him being able to travel to the top and letting everyone in, considering his character, it is is more than likely that people with a platform should be helping.
The caucasians police joining in is portraying them just letting people live. I believe that the standoff indicated there could have been a battle but they realized it wasn't worth it and the man inside smiled because that's not what they wanted.

Then, everyone enjoys the top together, everyone should have that right. Best part is that no one changed their clothing, which says that even in our every day roles, we should all be able to live our best lives, co-existing.
