Apologies for being a music elitist, but John is rated highly as a guitarist, but he doesn't get enough recognition as an artist overall. He's known more for his guitar playing rather than his actual overall songwriting I'm saying. Some of these albums that he put out there when he was a mess with all that bad shit are some of the most unique collections of songs I've ever heard.

I think most of these lyrics are close to "automatic writing" or giving words to hummed melodies like Mars Volta do. Its all pretty abstract, but nonetheless expressive.

@Ant Thomas synths are electric pianos as well and they have reverb knob generally

@TheGreatUtopiaCat That is true but I was talking more along the lines of workstation electric pianos. While all synths are essentially electric pianos, not all electric pianos are synths, you know? Unless if he spent that long to manipulate the synth to get that certain tone, I don't see why he wouldn't just use an electric piano, but it is John we're talking about so who knows haha. Do you think the reverb was added on during production or do you think its an on-board effect? It sounds too good and saturated to be an on-board effect but I could be wrong.

It's hard to say whether one is better, they truly do have their own individual styles. Maybe your just not listening to the right Hendrix music, try listening to '1983 (A Merman I should turn to be)'..

Compared to niandra lades and usually just a t shirt, this shit is gold. i love john and the chili peppers, but that album is like 90% rambling shit. John is capable of so much more, and that album is just awful minus a few of the instrumentals.

possibly my favourite song from him...

His songs are not linear as other artists songs are, his songs are muli-dimensional. I find John parallel with universe, one man at the planet, that just might think differently, that looks at things from other perspective. That's why he'll always be recognized as RHCP guitarist and that's sad, I find this artwork 10 times better then RHCP, just for info I love RHCP, I grew listening to their songs.
