John Frusciante - What I Saw Lyrics
There's one room
There's one light
There's one night
In the fire
In the pain
This from me
This one lie
That seems right
Time can't climb
It can't be
It can't see
I see to be right
I fall down tonight
I go to hell to be what I sell
Falling again is such a welcome end
Echoes of these far reaching sights
Stuck with the pain of knowing you should have tried
Give me your hands
And we'll never die
This love song
It sits wrong
It means jack
The time's right to be wrong
All night long
I feel good
I feel so far away
This is mine
It could be anyday
I saw what I saw
I call up a man
Distance is what gets me right in
I had a hand in everyone losing their place
Never must stop
It's stealing my heart
A moment to squeeze begging on its knees
I know I'll never be right beyond tonight
Give me your hands
And we'll never die

John Frusciante What I Saw Comments
I don't understand how this sounds like "Polly" at all.
because in one part use the same chords
Maybe not Polly but i can definitely hear the obvious Nirvana influence, the chord structure and raw sound from the old b-side recordings 👍🏼
maybe john inspired by the “wheel of fortune” by Black Sabbath
Do you mean "Wheels of Confusion"?
I wish these songs had i live performance by himself...
That solo at the end though 💔💔💔
Ramones vibes!
anyone hears Smells Like Teen Spirit in this?
I can't really hear that, but I can definitely hear Polly.
I can hear some Nirvana vibes in this but definitely not smells like teen spirit
its just the power chords dude
I shake my head frantically every time I hear this. Nasty!
fyi John hated kurt and his music.
yeah like 20 years ago, he changed his mind^^
soul bro
The time's right To be wrong All night long
yeah it reminds a little tiny bit of Polly, but it's stupid to say he stole stuff.. it's normal for artist to be influenced by other artists, probably when he recorded this album he was listening to a lot of Nirvana! don't see anything wrong with that! This album kicks ass by the way, love it
beautiful song!
I'm sure you've had a shit ton of replies in a year but the pre-chorus sounds alot like the vocal part to Polly by Nirvana.
after 50+ years of electric guitar history i suppose there are some similar riffs without anyone copying , it just happens
POOR JOHN such a STRONG PERSON trying to keep on the RIGHT/WRONG path! I, now, know the TRUE meaning of this album as a whole. Damn it John why?! Oh well, it's YOUR choice. Just remember who you are, okay? Keep on making wonderful music as that's the only thing you're good for. LOVE ALWAYS 3
I don't find them similar to say the least... Not the same chords, tempo or melody at all. But it sounds a bit "Punkish" to me, I can't remember which song though. Maybe a Ramones one.
Queens of the Stone age? Just a little bit?
i tried to cover it so please have a listen :) if you add this after sound cloud dot com -- michael-steadman/what-i-saw-cover thanks all! great song!
Not too bad man.. You got the production pretty similar
all of them! :) Listen to 'Emptiness' !
insane ending *_*
0:44 HERE I AM!... ROCK YOU LIKE A HURRICANE! :D
He also covered 'Drain You' by Nirvana live
The pre-chorus does have the same chords as 'Polly' by Nirvana, but the rhythm and accents are all different, and the general timbre
all of them
Emptiness.
Give me your bands and we'll never die
In one interview John said he dosn't like Kurts music...
This is one of his best songs :)
you people do understand that every musician "steals" things , you steal a vibe , a type of sound , the way a chord rings out etc etc.. , but it should never be obvious and its what you do with it that matters. theres videos on youtube where john goes thru a couple of songs and what bits in them that he stole , fugazi licks for example.. , the way the crap band crazy town stole the lick from pretty little ditty..now thats stealing and lack of talent.!.
this guy is music lucky hes still alive
there are artists that make great songs. then there are artists that make great albums. then there is John Frusciante.
nice...a little touch of punk and grunge,,,
I'm a fan of Nirvana and no one song tell me it, just a troll, listen music, have fun ! :)
@EasilyRiding Now that you mention it, it is the same basic riff, but in all honesty aren't there going to be a lot of repeat riffs throughout music? Especially when someone as musically diverse as John decides to do a punk rock sound, which he normally doesn't work with in the studio(nowadays anyway)
i think the song titles of this album can be read as a poem
@EasilyRiding sorry but it's not the same chord progression.
I love the raw production, real music like the hey day of the Hendrix experience! Love you John
@TheGroumpfy "I just wanna have something to do" by the Ramones but he didn't steal it he was just trying to go for that punk rock feel and he knows a lot of their songs so I believe it's just coincidence.I frequently come up with chord progressions on guitar where I'm like wow this sounds really nice but too much like John Frusciante. Were all guilty of it it just takes a lot of practice to get away with it like he has.
Stuck with the pain of knowing you should have tried, give me your hands and we'll never die.. This love song, it sits wrong, it means jack, The time's right to be wrong all night long ♫
John Anthony Motherfuckin Fruciante!
@Hitori521 well thats what he said but not what he meant^^
I always feel his work is so true, not commercial as other musicians', like he makes music for himself. This is good.
give me your hands and we'll never die........
@DebsMacleod1 John stealing a song ? I don't think so, can you tell me which song it is ?
John's gone and stolen this riff...oh, but I'll forgive him for copying Nirvana seeing as he's beyond most musos dreams. Love, love, love John Frusciante...
The time's right, to be wrong, all night long.
I feel good, I feel... so far away. ~
Story of my life.
I loooove it! And i love John's sound so much. I miss him, damn it.
Solo Is Amazing.
