@Wanda Nemer, you could be right. I never thought the Golden Apples could be alcoholic. And no Animal, including us, should never drink Alcohol, and believe it or not, Grapes are fermented first and then turned into an alcoholic drink. We all know whoever drinks Alcohol, will eventually die, including us.

@Jesse Jonathan Roy Well, being fair, the locals had never in their lives seen a horse, and are not sure about how he even functions, not to mention, a Divine Mount (whatever that is)... Probably Altivo just drank the wine like the reckless dumb-dumb he is.

Actually, most Domesticated Horses are very intelligent and curious creatures. Only Dromedary Camels and other species are more intelligent than Horses.

Also, Chel understands how a Horse functions pretty well, except for that scene. How I know is that she can ride Altivo, like Miguel and Tulio.

@Jesse Jonathan Roy Just a theory... And yes, of course horses are most intelligent, but remembering that *Altivo* in particular was willing to thow himself into the sea just to get an apple... one never knows for sure.

Also, it would make sense that the locals are just fine, since we barely saw them drink or smoke... more in the line that they were.mostly busy entertaining *them*. And even more so, the locals are *used* to the drinks, foods and such, while Miguel and Tulio just swallowed things up without thinking, as much out of the euphoria of the moment as for not to seem out of place.

This movie is nearly 20 years old and it's still amazing!
