John, Elton - I Must Have Lost It On The Wind Lyrics

I'm no longer counting I'm not keeping score
I could say my list of lovers doesn't matter anymore
But some are always in my heart
And some I'm not so sure
Either way they all left their mark
And for some I found a cure

[chorus:]
From one you learn something
Another you learn, nothing
And there's one who might teach you everything
But before I learned to listen
And if indeed someone said it
Then I guess I must have lost it on the wind

Back when I was younger each one was a prize
Love just came along and hit you right between the eyes
And one was just a trophy catch
And one was like a curse
Some would want to bleed you dry
Some might quench your thirst

[repeat chorus]

In cold water I went fishing in warm seas I cast a line
And swore the heart I was reeling in was perfect at the time
You couldn't tell me I was wrong, you couldn't tell me anything
And if you did then I guess I must have lost it on the wind

i just can not get over how good every song on this album is. talk about consistent ! my god. no wonder he gets pissed when something this good is not promoted and doesn't sell well. "tinderbox" is my favorite. perfect '70's style single.

    B.... C....

Tinderbox has a superb video too

I can agree with you for maybe the first half of the 90's. But, from "The Big Picture" to "The Union", there are at least 2 or 3 songs that are quite exceptional. "The Union" is probably his best output since the late 80's because I can listen to over half the tracks on the LP and not get bored, but since it's a joint effort, I'd say "Songs From The West Coast" or "The Captain & The Kid" is his best work since that time period.

Anything post 80s for EJ, pretty much punchless.

    F.... ....

The 80s had several weak albums, whereas this millennium most have been fine

  13. Y.... ....

How the hell is this corny...?

  14. T.... A....

I really appreciated finding CFnBDC n YBR. I have them on vinyl, but no needle for the stereo. Thanks and I'm glad you luv EJ as much as I do!! I'm 52 y.o. so I've been loving his n Bernie's music for over 40 yrs now. Ttyl Much luv n appreciation!!!!!

Bernie has provided a great avenue to say: "Hey, some things may get pass me. I am not perfect."

I don't view this as corny. Its a reflection of life and love -- it touched my soul, rekindled memories of youth, and growth. Only in time do you understand the effects some lover(s) had on your life.
