John, Elton - Border Song Lyrics
Holy Moses I have been removed
I have seen the specter he has been here too
Distant cousin from down the line
Brand of people who ain't my kind
Holy Moses I have been removed
Holy Moses I have been deceived
Now the wind has changed direction and I'll have to leave
Won't you please excuse my frankness but it's not my cup of tea
Holy Moses I have been deceived
I'm going back to the border
Where my affairs, my affairs ain't abused
I can't take any more bad water
I've been poisoned from my head down to my shoes
Holy Moses let us live in peace
Let us strive to find a way to make all hatred cease
There's a man over there what's his color I don't care
He's my brother let us live in peace
He's my brother let us live in peace
He's my brother let us live in peace

John, Elton Border Song Comments
Nothing that happened during or around the Super Bowl tonight was as great as this...
I have just chosen this song for a radio programme on the day following Brexit, honouring Elton who calls himself a European. The resonance of its lyric is quite uncanny.
This song was offered to Joe Cocker, and he turned it down. Why? He--or Mike Harrison--would have nailed it. Congrats to Elton, though.
50 Anni Border Song Capolavoro
So many American elements in his early work (This, Tumbleweed, Madman etc.) There's gospel, country, folk and God, the arrangements are beyond anything created today. Timeless music...
Should be required listening for certain parts of our population, as well as a certain political party, today.
I whised he peformed this song more often
He's my brother, let us live in peace
Elton John I can relate
A boy in my science class performed this song on piano while singing in the school talent show and it was immensely inspiring tbh.....
Just a powerful song!! He's my brother, let us live in peace!!
My add was longer than the song
Elton John's 1st 2 Albums were BRILLIANT, still in my Top 10 or 20. Tumbleweed Connection is right up there with Mad Dogs and Englishmen.
2019 ANYONE ENJOY !
This is what Disney sounds like
For a long time I wasn't sure Elton John wrote this, because I kind of thought it was an old gospel song.
Bernie wrote the song, Elton added the last verse.
One of the best pieces of music ever written.
Maybe the best EJ song ever.
The song should have been called 'Holy Moses'.
Elton John said that Border Song is about alienation and bigotry
The verses Bernie wrote were about alienation. The last verse that Elton wrote was about bigotry
Let us live in peace!
Rocket man is incredible!!! You have to see this film.
This song drives home the sad and sorry state of music today. When this came out it just kinda came and went buried in all the great music and artists of the day. If this song came out today it would be a sensation. Along the lines of Adelle's Rolling in the Deep. Off hand I don't know the date this song came out, but I guarantee if you Google the UK and American charts for that date it will be an overload of incredible music.
My father passed away this week. I will make a tribute video in his memory using this song. I hope he'd like it. Let us all live in peace with ourselves and each other. There's nothing more important in our lives.
Love this man
When Elton was on fire.
from the first time I heard "Bennie and the Jets" in '69 I was hooked.
I was lucky enough to see him in concert in Frankfurt,Germany in '85. I shall never forget it.
This is such a beautiful song. If only we could get people to dismiss color and realize we’re all one people.
Just brilliant .....
It's amazing that his career never really went anywhere.
It went in a lovely direction I think; He lives a quietly humble life, loved by the people around him and enjoying the parenthood to his two sons. Elton’s certainly not missing out as he’s had his fame.
Aa, I'm confused... Who are you referring to ? Bernie had incredible success as a songwriter & I'm not sure any artist has had as much success for as long as Elton has. I am very curious about who's career you think was unsuccessful ?
Will the world's christians accept my challenge? If not, I shall declare you to be officially chicken
IF I am WRONG and the Eucharist reduces the incidence of crime, it should be simple enough to prove such a thing...... With a little something I like to call *gasp* math
If the arguments are not backed up by EVIDENCE..... Guess how much they are worth in the idea marketplace of 2019
I also challenge statistical evidence that Christian men have higher levels of testosterone than non Christian men
I also challenge someone to provide STATISTICAL, NOT CHERRY PICKED data proving that non-christians have a track record of commiting sex offenses LESS OFTEN than no christians
Now I challenge Donald Trump to do a public confessional about all the times he has broken current US penal codes for harrassment. And I challenge Donald Trump to formally condemn sexual harassment
Just listen to this perfection of musical ability, it is astounding I have always held Elton, Bernie and the band at the top of the most brilliant creative artists of all time.

They say times have changed, but for me personally the only thing that’s changed is the music. We don’t have the talent and thought like previous generations. When a song is still relevant long after it was written means to me, change hasn’t happened but is long over due. Beautiful song EJ/BT I will always cherish what you have done for music and what your music has done for me. Thank you
I actually mistook this song for Black Sabbath's "Changes".
I'm a atheist but love this song and the message,I also love to sing it holy moses this song is great
Im an atheist & it sounds almost like gospel, but lyrically im pretty sure its criticizing abrahamic religions
Holy Moses I love this song.
Elton's piano playing on this song reminds me a lot of Aretha's church-inspired style of piano playing. His African-American musical influences are evident on a lot of his early work. Here's a wonderful video of him and Aretha performing this song together back in 1993.

The Democrats' border song is "Walk Right In."
Dude, seriously?
go away
@HVYMETL Who, me, or him?
Well. . I don't like it. Sorry
"What's his colour, I don't care..." Geez this was good music...
Elton's first and finest album , his last great album was yellow brick road....imho and yes I know this isn't his actual "first album".
Empty Sky first album.
Conditioning Europeans for their replacement via mass immigration. Hundreds of songs in the 60's and 70's were conditioning songs, lulling whites to sleep while the Jews arranged for the Genocide.
I love this 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
One of the genius's best compositions. His voice is at peak form.....and the melody is hauntingly beautiful...
As great as the EJ version is, this one by Aretha Franklin is wickedly great!

53 people need to head to the border...
Beautifully profound. I miss artistry of the music of my generation.
Powerful song I think this song is relevant today
From the first note, this song never fails to lift and overwhelm. Magnificent!
I absolutly love this song!
The only other guy who could have given this wonderful song justice is the late Joe Cocker.
Beautifully profound. I miss artistry of the music of my generation.
Uhh. British came to, America.
Excellent song Reggie
This song was on his greatest hits album. That's the firsr time I heard it long ago. I remember the inner sleeve one of the photos was of Bernie on a horse. Just one of his countless hits there are so many. Elton was probably the biggest act of the 70s along with the Stones.
Elton and Bernie= perfection
Powerful song I think this song is relevant today
❤❤❤

You are doing a great service for humanity and you should be recognized for it.
That's a noble enough motive for me. Keep it up for those who may have been "deceived" into forgetting this song.
Sawbones see you in five years.
A song that is really an album track and not a hit, especially when you compare it to Your Songs lofty heights. On this same classic album. Border song however is more important, poignant, and powerful in my own view. I love all the hits of Elton John and Bernie Taupin, but all the regular album tracks 9 times out of ten are just as great.
Kinda picks up where Tea for the Tillerman left off.
Did Tony Iommi take this song to compose Sabbath's Changes? The similarities are too obvious.
❤️❤️i cant belive how beautiful, great and incredibly amazing this is❤️❤️
5/30 I think I might be here for the same reason as you.
SOUL FOOD
The beginning sounds like changes by Black Sabbath
This was released in 1970. So it’s more like Changes sounds like the intro to Border Song
Best song
I love this song, my favorite singer is elton john
his stuff from the 1960's and 1970's were gold! I don't really like anything after 1980 myself. but those early albums!!!
some fine albums this millennium, the golden era was from 70-76
Rembrandt album... greatness in simplicity. Beautiful powerful tune.
Piano sounds similar to black sabbath changes
best cd he did his 1st.
A truly gifted musician, singer, songwriter, & performer! The nostalgia he paints from decades past is a warming comfort for me. I'm convinced others feel the same way. His tunes reach us in a universal way. Music just does it for me! You too? Way cool! Cheers! * Cav *
LEGEND!!!
One of the purist songs about fellowship. Elton bridges all gaps. In the end love never fails.
This is a very repetitive song, but Elton John is finding unique ways to make each pass at the phrase sound genuinely unique. That consistent kind of approach to music is exactly what makes a good, well-rounded performer and invites authentic growth and success in his friends and such
True Abba Hail Holy Moses"..🦁⚓🏆🗽...RDNY. Hallelujah' ...
I have seen the spectre he has been here too
Distant cousin from down the line
Brand of people who ain't my kind
Holy Moses I have been removed
A song to the Zionist Psychopaths that run the World.
LET US LIVE IN PEACE.
Great song.
This album is my favorite Elton album, his first 6 albums were greatness, after that he went into the commercial oblivion
but Goodbye Yellow Brick Road and Captain Fantastic are masterpieces
I remember hearing this for the first time on his 'Greatest Hits' album and falling in love with this song immediately. That was when I was three years old. I STILL love this song.
best song of Elton john
thanks for posting. One of my fav albums.
Not only a great song but a great sentiment too!
I'm so glad I finally found this song. I found Neil Innes song called Godfrey Daniel which is really good and I was so sure that it must be parody/pastiche of some other well known song. Took me a while to find what that song parodied
My first introduction to this song was when ARETHA FRANKLIN covered it. Then my stepdad, who was more of a fan of jazz, had a copy of this album. I was psyched because I didn't like the guy after he had recently married my mom.
This song and a few others made me realize that he was not such a bad guy.
I buried him last year after being a part of my life for 46 years!
Music is a healer and a reconciler!!
This song is so beautiful and the lyrics speak so many words :)
cbs brought me here
crazycat329 took the words right off my fingers : )
hey utube let us hear three songs then a 15 second ad please 💛
Who's this Taupin dude? 😎
Elton's lyricist.
Maybe someone in the white house should listen to this song.
Obama and Eric Holder should have listened to it.
