John Denver - Mother Nature's Son Lyrics
Born a poor young country boy, Mother Nature's son.
All day long I'm sitting singing songs for everyone.
Sit beside a mountain stream, see her waters rise.
Listen to the pretty sound of music as she flies.
Swaying daises sing a lazy song beneath the sun.
Mother Nature's son.

John Denver Mother Nature's Son Comments
Happy Earth Day 2017!
This version seems to borrow from a cover Harry Nilsson did in 1969. Rather than point to the "best" recording, I find them all to be quite moving and... spiritual, I guess.
Since I was just a child in 1972, I grew up thinking this was a John Denver original it and was pleasantly surprised to stumble upon the other records.
LOVE IT....The guitar work is phenomenal!
❤❤❤
The pic of Mr Denver holding the koala's he look a bit like Steve Erwin......... This "cover" is so much better than the Beatles, which is pretty drab, and not even alive.
hate to say but better then the Beatles
John Denver did this song the best
John Denver and Steve Erwin....... look similar. Just noticed that
very nice tribute!
This song had to have influenced him significantly.
The 12 string guitar and piano accompaniment are a nice energy. I still like the Beatles version best, but Denver does it well, tipping the cap to him.
This sounds like a John Denver song, not a Beatles song :)
Best cover of the Beatles classic.
you are 100% right Filthy McNasty I don,t think any one could have done it better Peace to you
remember this song on the first album I bought Rocky mountain high,,,was on cassette then
I actually like John Denver's version of this better then The Beatles' original. This has energy, The Beatles' version goes nowhere. Denver makes something out of it :) :)
+alworkedup Yes!! I've thought that for years, ever since the first time I heard Denver's version. It's one of only two Beatles' covers that I think are any good (the other being Siouxsie and the Banshees' cover of Helter Skelter). What I find amazing about this version is that it doesn't sound like a cover, rather, it sounds like Paul McCartney specifically wrote the song for Denver, as he wrote Come and Get It for Badfinger several years earlier.
John was quite a guy. Gone way too soon. Love these family and home photos. How did you get them? His vocals are always wonderful and so full of life. How does someone like John ever die?
from one of his loves,Flying he always loved to fly or maybe to see what it was like to be a Eagle
Not a massive John Denver fan, but he sure did make this Beatles song his own. Very nice rendition. I do love the original's more melancholy arrangement and performance. With all deference to Ms. Ginger below. :)
I'm sorry but when you have the likes of John Denver,Stevie Wonder, Grateful Dead,Aretha Franklin, Elvis,Earth Wind and Fire,Crosby Still and Nash, Sinatra,Joe Cocker, and many many artist covering your songs.....Beatles, You were in my opinion on of the best bands to grace the music world.
+ryan49er1 so true my friend the beatles were the best they influenced many
Terrific cover!
Great cover, to a great song. A happier version.
For years, this was the only version I had heard. I had never realized it was a Beatles song. By the time I listened to their version, I loved John's version too much to enjoy the Beatles singing it.
@jencom1971 Both very different aren't they. Like both @fencesitter:-)
@jencom1971 I didn't realize it was a Beatles song until much later. Been listening to John Denver since I was too small to know anything. Have you heard Jack White's cover? It's something else entirely. Shows how a great song can be covered by a great variety of folks and still be great.
+Sharla Hulsey jack White crucified it.
Great pictures. This song popped in my head this morning. So I was singing it all day long and had to share. Thanks for making this
You're welcome! I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Have a great day! :)
yes it,s is a great song John did this song right, even though the Beatles wrote it in a slower version
Hi Barbara Breen I am Tom Breen what a cool name. And this is a beautiful song I got see him in concert back in the 70,s what a great concert that was and this one of the songs he started with. Such great memories he just made you feel so relaxed Peace to you
Thank you so much for the beautiful song and precious photos I really enjoyed them. John Denver is my all time favorite singer he was truly one of a kind. And in answer to Nani Treas' question (which you may have already answered) about who is in the photo (at 0:37) with John Denver I am almost positive that is Marty Stouffer who hosted Wild America on PBS, please correct me if I am wrong. Once again thanks for the song & photos.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! And, I think you are correct....I'm pretty sure that is Marty Stouffer. Have a great day! :)
Love this version
We miss you John Denver.
Gone too soon. RIP John Denver
Great version, even better than the Beatles' - and that's saying something!
Where did you get the photo at 0:37 and what year was that? Do you know who that guy was in the picture with him? (Not the old lady; I know who was in that picture.)
You're very welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed it! :)
Thanks Jenni for this wonderful way to get my day going!! Miss you John!
I've always loved this cover--bright and upbeat--excellent! Stupid and untimely death--I'm glad I got to see him about 4 times in concert. Love him or hate him--he was a great entertainer AND he wrote most of his own songs!
I was fortunate to see him in concert 3 times as well. He was just amazing! There will never be another to compare to him...
Glad you enjoyed it! All I can take credit for is putting it together! :) Have a great day! :)
Thank you for the wonderful pics and music.
You're welcome! Glad you enjoyed it! :)
John's best cover! Thank you!
