Joell Ortiz - Move On Lyrics

[Intro:]
Alright! Whassup my nigga?
You say your name is John?

[Joell Ortiz:]
Joell Ortiz
Yeah yeah I know I'm familiar with the interview shit
I know what you gon' ask
I got you, don't even stress it

No I don't respond with answers that fit a script
So the repetition'll make a nigga flip
We in the game of smoke and mirrors, those engineerin a bigger spliff
Blowin circles out they mouth, gettin praised but the shit'll shift
I never lived a myth, if I said it I did it
Never alleged, word to dead I grip the fifth (boom!)
I made my housing tenement a strip, movin medicine and nicks
When I seen 'em comin I jetted from them pricks (ohh!)
And still to this day though she clean I wish my mommy never sniff
But the hurt is makin me better with this gift (look)
I'm live with this ink you could, die in a blink and
Y'all got the nerve to ask me why do I drink and
Motherfucker sometimes I cry when when I think and
Y'all ain't there when them tears bein dried by the sink (damn)
It was cold in the winter, my community centers who gave me dinner
I ain't mind, my table chairs gave me splinters (haha!)
Set up to be loser but was made to be a winner (look)
If they paint hip-hop I bet my face be in the picture
If they wrote a rap bible bet my name be in the scriptures
If shorty say I'm her idol bet her face be in my zipper (woo!)
I came a long way from the staples in my scrilla
Stains on my pants, hardly had a gut
The ladies ain't wanna dance so house parties would suck
All my friends on the wall, I'm in the hall with a couple
Nah I ain't complainin, just tellin y'all what it is
So if y'all goin through it now just know that another kid
Made somethin outta nothin, well I'm frontin, I was never nothin
Older ladies used to tell my mother "Ain't he somethin?"
I look at a lot of you cats and laugh
Cause I'm the shit man, and y'all ain't even passin gas
When I spit I'm the definition of mastered craft
And all y'all ask about is Aftermath – motherfucker move on!

Move on...
Move on...
Move on...

[Joe Budden:]
L-look, look; I gotta give my own interview
Since niggaz that do my interviews focus on whatever's miniscule (like!)
Or paint me as a cynical, but the canvas'll limit you (dawg)
You can't go beyond what there's no limit to
If I think hip-hop is dead I think it's bein revived
And that comes from me being inside
Where the demons get by, see 'em good-bye
If I'm anemic here's why, come from hearin and seein ve-nomous lies (oh!)
So the beast in me cried, cause when it's all you hear
Shit get old repaired, just when the obey near
And so I try to think straight cause when you stare in the rear
Rest in peace, do as you care, nigga yeah!
I'm on another label, not that other label
That mean it's no longer my problem, it's theirs
Some say it's a conspirac'
I say if e'rybody's on the throne, that just more motive to kill the heir
Ask me 'bout "Pump it Up" and I'm a think you SHEEP
Or you must not know I'm DEEP!
I'm so off of music so y'all could SoundScan every week
Me? I just got my lil' man every week
Jersey City loves me despite y'all beliefs (why?)
Cause they was baby steppin, I showed 'em how to leap (ohh!)
Ask me about swag - I'm a change the topic
To lyrics in them raps, plus look at you like a fag
I love e'rybody, don't ask 'bout who I beef with
They burned the bridge but they was standin underneath it
I'm on my grind, Benjamin Hutton
Was old since I was young, call me Benjamin Button
And stop usin slang just for you to be cool
Cause I go BACK to when it was cool to be you
I'm a hero (nah) no I mean I'm here oh
For heroes, y'all chase zeroes
Muh'fucker I just got finished hatin ME feelin like a zero
They played DeNiro, never been there though
So before your next thought, understand
Know it's MUCH more to me than the man
Either that or move on

Yeah, move on
Keep out trouble (ya mean?)
Good around here
Muh'fucker move on
Don't ask me 'bout no old shit
No choice, either that, or you could move on
It's, it's (mic check one-two one-two)
J to the O!

  26. e.... ....

2018 just listened to Em’s Kamikaze album and Joe’s Podcast and came back to listen to this fire ass song 🔥 ... man o man, what could’ve been.

    e.... ....

Em fucking ruined Slaughterhouse for his own selfish ego, Joe was on the money, they were signed as a muse for an insecure uninspired has been. (I say that as a HUGE Em fan)

  27. G.... Y....

Nobody gonna mention how Crooked I says the line "every memory under my Dodger hat a nightmare" but is wearing an Angels hat in the video and even tugs on it while he says it

  32. S.... C....

#FIRE!!!!! THEY WENT DUMB ON THIS....CROOKED OR ROYCE GOT THE BEST VERSE

  33. I.... I....

RIP slaughterhouse, you will be remembered

    I.... I....

    mf move on.

    I.... I....

I actually hate Em for destroying Slaughterhouse, that signing completely destroyed them. The greatest supergroup of all time destroyed by the self proclaimed greatest.

    I.... I....

    @YourPalHDee yea blame em.... idiot

    I.... I....

@Josh It was Eminem's fault. Everything Joe Budden said about the signing and the way Slaughterhouse were handled under Shady was the reason they fell apart. Em signed them because he had become massively uninspired and just wanted to have 4 of the greatest close by.
Ask yourself HONESTLY, when was the last time Eminem made a song that really meant anything? Don't get me wrong, he flexes his unbelievable rhyming talent on every song, but he's been out of ideas musically for about 11 years, whereas Slaughterhouse were coming in with some seriously fresh ideas.

    I.... I....

@YourPalHDee that's bullshit. Crook went on Instagram and completely denied what joe said. Royce did similarly. Joe is a cry baby. I like him, but he is. The truth is he left the group and retired. Ask yourself this, why is it that Joe seems to butt heads with so many big name rappers? Drake, Hov etc. His relationships don't seem to last. Maybe he's the problem.

As for the creative part of your comment, i'm calling bullshit there too. At this point in Em's career, he's kinda talked about everything meaningful he could talk about. So all that's left is braggadocius rap or skillful shit. He signed slaughterhouse for 2 reasons, he loves advanced lyricism and Royce is a good friend. Joe is bitter about how his career turned out if we're being honest with ourselves

  34. L.... ....

so sad to hear that such a lyrical group has disbanded only after 2 albums and 1 ep i wish they wouldve followed in wu tangs shoes!

    L.... ....

They also have around 3 mixtapes, which most of their best songs are on

  35. I.... B....

At least the memory of hip hop is still there for proof it WAS ALIVE AND WELL....... BUDDEN TO THE GRAVE SAME STATE HOW I RELATE HOMIE

  36. e.... ....

2018 and this joint still gives goosebumps #Classic

  37. T.... O....

Royce sounds like he chokes up talking about Em, true love and respect for the man.

  38. I.... r....

This shot touches my soul 2018. Years later nothing is equivalent to this. Muthafca moveeee On.

  39. M.... P....

“But I had to bleed the blood of a dirty motherfucka to suffer clean clothes”

  40. Y.... ....

Joell's verse might be my favourite rap verse of all time, honestly.

  41. V.... G....

"I'll treat you like them bikers in a Bronx tale". What hemisphere should I go ahead n start burning to ashes? You should see what happens to the bikers in prison from that tale. Fuck this keyboard ass shit, we'll take the shit back to the 90s no damn problem.

  42. s.... ....

    Time to move on

  43. A.... L....

    Classic. House gang for life

  44. J.... L....

"Been old since I was young, call me Benjamin Budden " woooooo

  46. D.... ....

Damn this shit remind of me and my old squad fuck everybody got older and can't do what we use to do

  47. A.... R....

you honestly sound hard.. but you sound like bitches. wanna meet Jesus.. ask for my address... know I am right here.. get target yalls shit figured out...and come to me, ye who are weary laden, and I will teach you the love of Christ that you cannot escape and I will show you how to come to the gospel of the music. 57. T.... J....

i remember the first time hearimg this song, was also first time i heard slaughterhouse. these cats ruined music for me fr. they so advanced beyond almost everybody in the game that its hard to listen to anything else now. its a damn shame people be sleepin on this shit

    r.... ....

thats dope, far from dead's out of BC also

  60. J.... ....

They absolutely slaughter this song, but my personal opinion, Joey is the greatest ever!!

    J.... ....

    JhanghirK couldn't agree more.

    J.... ....

Brett Sullivan Crooked I kills this one

    J.... ....

James Wainaina crook is a monster. I deal with politics bandanas and hollow tips.

    J.... ....

I gotta go with Royce tbh, this just isn't his best verse.
I think the best verse on this is Joell. He fucking WRECKS it.

  61. s.... ....

love it when crooked talks that shit😎. even if your shit is dope, it ain't giving you niggas hope,

  62. s.... p....

the remix is so much better

    s.... p....

    whats the remix???

    s.... p....

+Michael Murphy move on remix lol. Original is clearly better

    R.... D....

    2017 still rocking with it

  67. t.... ....

    still sounds dope

  68. F.... B....

Right now it's Move On vs Offshore (truth or truth is on a whole nother level)

    F.... B....

Felipe Banks truth or truth is the best rap song of all time for me. Joes verse is the best verse I've ever heard. They all kill it of course but budden was on a whole different level on that shit. offshore I listen to daily and move on is definitely in my top 3 slaughterhouse songs. you got damn good taste in hip hop brother.

    F.... B....

wish I could shake your hands. so many people support garbage. nice to see people bumping real hip hop

    F.... B....

Felipe Banks Truth is straight facts but only real fans fuk wit it regardless

  69. M.... P....

last verse wont stop recording until i make songs harder than pac"

  70. N.... B....

    Need a lyric video

  71. M.... J....

    People really hate hip hop*

  72. J.... C....

You know how time just lags on when you're high? Well, when I used to listen to this song high with friends years ago, this eight minutes felt like FOREVER lol.

    J.... C....

Johnny Canuck got High and listened to this, i was dissecting all 4 verses like holy shit these guys are incredible. Felt like an hour 😂

  73. A.... C....

these dudes, like Curtis, like slim. all the peeps in the fam, and ya'll know fam when It's slaughterhouse it's everything that belongs into that topic, i'll  fucking  salute yall keep doing that dope shit, even though the predecessors gone, you can make a difference.. I Think my voice gets muffeled but you dope don't ever forget thqat, and you got love

  74. G.... ....

Hip hop alert!!! Wake up people!!

  75. M.... ....

    Real love this shit

  76. J.... H....

Slaughterhouse proud to rep Shady/Interscope, Royce should have apologized a longtime ago because its taken so long for him to reach his prime and he must have known who would help.

  77. O.... ....

its sad that these 4 got fucked over by the industry

    O.... ....

OgLoC2 its sad as fuck..Em should be embarrassed

  78. F.... ....

It makes me so mad to know these guys will never blow up just like the Lox. Even though he's one of, if not the nicest out Joell will never blow up like he deserves just like Jada. This is just too real and it's not what mainstream wants. That's why it's up to the real fans to show as much love and support as possible. Go to the show, buy the CD, put people on, stop listening to the radio!!

    F.... ....

    They're blowing up now

    F.... ....

"Like the lox"? 1. Lox never really blew up. 2. Slaughter is in a WAY better position than Lox was

    F.... ....

@DonnieBoyBlue130 we'll see. "Real" hip-hop isn't what sells unfortunately. Not what these guys are spitting nor the style. Worst part is that they give away their best music on mix tapes then release mediocre tracks on their LP. Joell did the right thing by going solo again.

    F.... ....

@DonnieBoyBlue130 yea like the Lox never blew up but does anyone ever say they sucked? Ask the average person who Slaughterhouse is or more importantly ask a chick. They are known to people who know the meaning of a lyricist.

    F.... ....

FinalRespawn aka they blew up domt renig cuz what whoever that was said some. Lox blew up with ruff ryder back n the day

  79. L.... _....

This song goes hard. Joel/Joe/Crooked kill it.

    L.... _....

    no props to Royce?

    L.... _....

YourPalHDee Royce is probably the best one of the group, but it was the weakest verse this song.

  80. M.... ....

Happy 4th Anniversary To This EP.
One Of The Greatest Hip Hop Songs Of All Time.

    M.... ....

This wasn't released on a ep this came out 09 before the album even

    M.... ....

@johnnnyoh The remix is on the EP same verses different beat

    M.... ....

@ARapperNamedJus yea i know, personally i always liked it better over this beat my cousin likes the remix version better though, what u think ?

    M.... ....

@johnnnyoh This ones way better for sure, the remix is a lil popish if you ask me

  81. j.... ....

Joey and Joel had the best verses ! Straight

    j.... ....

    Crooked.

  82. B.... T....

    classic

  83. E.... C....

Every time I hear this song the deepness gets to me and Royce apologizing to Em damn very strong you can hear it in his voice!

  84. j.... o....

Only 65,000 views? This proves that people really hate hip-hop music

    j.... o....

That People Really Hate REAL Hip-Hop Music. But they love the mainstream industry Hip-Hop smh :/

    j.... o....

@Earvin Cintron thats word smfh thats my new shit ima say when i hear shit like this with thid amount of views shows where alot of people mind send it or should i say lack

    j.... o....

jarell odom people just follow stupid shut like drake coz their friends are listening to it. amongst a lot of reasons that I could give on why hip hop like this is not MAINSTREAM peer pressure and media fed shut are a few of the reasons I could give otherwise my rambling might turn into a thesis.

    j.... o....

jarell odom Or that they like that c"rap" that's on the radio.

    j.... o....

    2017 and it ain't even at 200k

  85. S.... ....

This is straight fire! I remember when this first came out.

  86. M.... ....

Even if the shit is dope it ain't giving you niggas hope. Unless ya signatures wrote on the check from Interscope, NOPE! Move on.

  87. s.... ....

I like the lyrics but i honestly think the remix fits better

    s.... ....

Maybe because i heard this version first but i dont like the remix

  88. E.... ....

    that mannnnn crookedddd

  89. J.... M....

I remember when this came out ...and I get the same feeling I did then

  90. J.... G....

the remix is much more powerful

  91. j.... ....

all the youtube uploads of the original song (with only joell and joey) have been muted, FUCK YOU KOCH, its stupid shit like that that people don't want to support you stupid record companies

  92. h.... ....

Joe must have written Royce's verse for this one right?

    h.... ....

    @hugotheswe
You should know what you're talking about before speaking on a subject.

    h.... ....

    @TheToofpick I didn't make a statement. I asked a question, I got an answer

    h.... ....

    I accept your apology.

    h.... ....

have you learnt more about hip hop since asking this question ?

    h.... ....

wow (Not going at you ) I didnt even realize that there was a person that DIDNT know Royce and Em didnt have beef. There were even classic diss songs about it too.

  93. e.... ....

This version is so much better than the remix.

    e.... ....

extremehardcoreboi22 technically this was a remix they added crook and royce to joell and joes original

    e.... ....

@Joshua Neal he means then the remixed beat/ hook and he's 100% right

    e.... ....

Disagree.. I think the beat on the remix goes hard w these verses

  94. M.... ....

"every memory under my dodger hat's a nightmare" you know its real hiphop when you get goose bumps. west coast move on!

    M.... ....

MANUGIN808 Yet he’s wearing an Angel’s hat in the video. I always found that hilarious lol

  95. A.... M....

    This is my shit

  96. H.... M....

Dude i feel the same way!!! :) but i do hear a little bit more talent in the game like kendrick lamar hopsin, and more mcs you just have to believe the rap game i believe will come back like it used to be i miss the same shit and i hope it returns too i was 5 years old when i heard real rap and hearing shitty ass rappers now a days on like the radio, or hearing my dumbass brother playing the shit i just get so pissed. It's the dumbass people for playing the shitty music -_- but real rap is comin

  97. J.... M....

honestly man i agree for the most part but think about this. record sales are down period. i think in order to sell records right now you have to have a following that is really into your music and wants to support you. real hip hop has been in the mainstream. eminem makes real hip hop and has outsold everyone by a huge margin. when jay gave a fuck about rap he sold, still does really. it is unfortunate that slaughterhouse cant at least do 150k first week though, they deserve even more.too lill

  98. J.... M....

all these dudes are ill as fuck but i admit, crooked i is on a level that cant be denied. everyone in slaughterhouse admits they hate crooked in the booth because he destroys verses lol
