This song could be dangerous! I believe the point of him posting his suicide note is for us to look at his life now and at everything this world would have missed if he had gone through with it. The point is his Tomorrow was not the same as his Today, and he grew and was able to give this world gifts that he couldn't have even dreamed of at the time. It you're looking for a reason to stay for tomorrow, this is it. I love you <3

This song by far is the best song in the universe. The amount of emotion and truth is overwhelming the first time i heard it I cried. No one can match the sense of sorrow in this song and i myself can relate to many things said in this although not in anyway as much as is said in the song. Most heart filled song out there.

I can't understand how this song flies under the radar. It's his most powerful, rawest piece and he's laying himself bare by singing his suicide note. I can understand him not wanting to perform it for that reason, but I'm amazed it isn't better known.

I did not know this song was about billy joel killing himself.. i equated it to watching my sister die from cancer.. it really hit my heart.. tomorrow is today.. when going through chemo .. same everyday.. this is my favorite album.. it touches my heart

Billy Joel's suicide note later became his song lyrics about his ex wife Elizabeth Weber.

Billy was highly disappointed in this album because the recorder was to slow and he said it made him "sound like a chipmunk" and when he first heard the record to smashed it off the wall. After that he went and worked in a small saloon to pay the bills and in that saloon was the story of piano man. He was an amazingly skilled pianist in a tiny saloon and the people loved him. He eventually left the saloon and went all over the country doing live concerts because he though he was incapable of making an album people liked so he did live concerts instead. During one of his live performances a famous music producer saw him and loved him but never spoke to him. Then after his tour he went back to that little saloon very depressed not knowing that a famous music producer was gonna help him become famous. He eventually spoke with Billy and flew him to LA to make his next album abd from there Billy took off and never looked back.

so powerful....i am binging billy joel songs tonight and this is the one i'm going to end it with. there are certain lyrics that stay with you forever, and the simple yet incredibly haunting 'soon enough it will all be over' is one of those for me.

Cold Spring Harbor is one of my favorites albums because instead of the velocity errors, you can enjoy a pretty personal work of a so young genius. Thank God to give us Billy Joel. And now, I could inherit this music to my littlest daughter (4 years) :)

It's amazing how he can change his voice when he's singing. Man,thank GOD he didn't go through with his suicide attempt, the world would have lost a great talent.

Genius Venus he went through with it, but failed. The note had more to it which was turned into lyrics for the instrumental number Nocturne, but these were scrapped. They're very nonsensical, so if you read them you can tell the drugs were starting to set in.

It is my favorite Billy Joel album hands down. I don't understand why its so underrated and mediocre rated.

For this album, they accidentally sped up Billy's vocals giving the album the nickname "the Chipmunk album". Billy was so annoyed after he first listened to this album that he threw the record down the street. It is a great album in my mind, yet I still think he's work only got better!

Cold Spring Harbor is easily one of the best albums ever made... and this song is just amazing to get through a rough time. True genius!
