Joel, Billy - Rosalinda's Eyes Lyrics
I play nights in the Spanish part of town
I've got music in my hands
The work is hard to find
But that don't get me down
Rosalinda understands
Crazy Latin dancing solo down in Herald Square
Oh Havana I've been searching for you everywhere
And though I'll never be there
I know what I would see there
I can always find my Cuban skies
In Rosalinda's eyes
When she smiles she gives everything to me
When she's all alone she cries
And I'd do anything to take away her tears
Senorita don't be lonely, I will soon be there
Oh Havana I've been searching for you everywhere
I've got a chance to make it
It's time for me to take it
I'll return before the fire dies
In Rosalinda's eyes
All alone in a Puerto Rican band
Union wages, wedding clothes
Hardly anyone has seen how good I am
But Rosalinda says she knows
Crazy Latin dancing solo down in Herald Square
Oh Havana I've been searching for you everywhere
And though I'll never be there
I know what I would see there
I can always find my Cuban skies
In Rosalinda's eyes

His best and most underrated song
That softness in his voice

Ever since I first heard this back in 1978 I have wanted to go crazy latin dancing in Herald Square. Not got there yet, but there is still time ...
Great drum beat on this, was it Gadd?
It's Rosalinda, not Rosalind.
40+ years and I just learned this is about his mom?!?!?? Geez....
This is what a beautiful song sounds like. This song is so Deep...
Does anyone know if Billy made it to Havana?
For me it was either Billy Joel or steely Dan mmm both unbelievable artists ,I was only 15 then , I'm 58 now n wen I listen it's not just about the good old
Great bassline
This song is the bomb! My favorite song of his. One small request can it bec1980 again?
I dedicate this song to my Mom
Più passa il tempo più apprezzo tutte e dico proprio tutte le sue canzoni
I'd be honored if some Billy Joel fans would take a quick listen to my acoustic piano & vocal performances of his classic compositions ALLENTOWN and VIENNA on my channel in tribute to the master. Live acoustic with no autotune or digital editing. Thanks and peace.
When the LP came out, this and Zanzibar were the ones that impressed me most. And Until the Night of course. I bought the LP the first day it was available in Cleveland. It was a Monday, and as I carried it home we had our first snowfall. You don't forget moments like those.
You're listening to DJ Timmy T and WBLS 107*5 in Stereo in NYC 🎧
These early years before he became starstruck ,were his best.
A wonderful song, a bit sad but it makes me want to see Havana, buy some cigars and see the multi-racial ladies.
His most underrated song.
Simply put...one of his best tunes ever
This song has such perfect use in that Freaks and geeks scene, it adds such a warm and nostalgic feeling to it.
OMG why is the Madrid airport so huge??? thank goodness for Billy Joel
My favorite song on 52nd St.........I like to play it LOUD!!!
This reminds me of 1995, a waiter at the caliente cab company dating all the hot waitresses in Manhattan, hitting all the clubs after work, coming home at 4am. Great times.
Listening to it non stop
Rosalind's Eyesは隠れた名曲だと思います!2:16~2:37の部分が特に好きです!
This was a lullaby song for me as a baby. Thanks dad!
I wanna sample this for a beat so bad but I’m scared I’ll get sued or something if the song blows up
I was named after this song ❤️
I have my deluxe edition with my 24-karat gold CD. My treasure both in the outside and the inside, musically speaking. I love particularly, My life, Zanzibar and Rosalinda's eyes.
Billy is an America treasure
Logan 5 indeed
So sad not one of todays artists could touch this
Lived on East 52nd Street at its very end..but I'm here because I love Billy.
Very good song.....muito boa....
Hello, title wrong, it's "ROSALINDA'S Eyes". Still, AMAZING!!
Why is this video titled wrong... It's Rosalinda's Eyes.
Another Timeless Classic!!!!!!!!@@!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rum and coke and a good splif and rosalinda on my lap 😎
Lovely song for his mother.Señor Joel, todo un caballero.Gracias.
I loved him so much as a kid. Then a young adult. Then he went POP. Never the same. Such talent and truth went to waste. But I loved him so.
just what are you calling pop glass houses is not pop.
I hated Billy Joel, until Freaks and Geeks — Now I love this song.
There's a lot of Liberty Devitto in this tune. No doubt he was chirpin' under his breath about his cut for making this tune the genius piece that it is. Nothing personal, just business.
Song is ROSALINA'S EYES. (you are misding an A)
Who's the bassist?
Doug Stegmeyer.
One of the greatest songwriters America ever produced.
is it just me or does the beginning kind of sound like something out of wii sports
I love to 70's stuff the most. He was quite the wordsmith.
This song has such a comfortable homely 1970s feel to it
LOVE my music artist... thank you for everything
😙😚😘 love this song so much nostalgia good memories and more memories to make 💖💃💃💃💃🎶🎵🎶🎧🎤🎺🎹
I'm speechless😶
In October ‘78 working in Manhattan for 2 weeks I felt close to this song.
Tks BJ & Staff !!!

Vianna waits for you
Personal Best!
Rosalind supreme.
This song perfectly captures the reminiscing of love existing somewhere between reality and other-world fantasy

Billy Joel is actually singing about his mother Rosalind.
Now why don't play this song more? Billy Joel at his best. 52nd Street has always been my favorite album of his.
One of the best in concert. Awesome
The first Billy Joel song I remember hearing on the radio...I thought it was Elton John at first!
me recuerda mis años mosos
This is one of THE coolest tunes, bar none.
😎
I'm so disappointed it took me until my 55th year on the planet to hear this song for the first time. Now I'm 56 and I've heard it a thousand times. What swagger and confidence as a songwriter! I can just tell Billy knew he was nailing it, was on a killer roll, whatever. These chord changes are so amazing, when the intro arpeggios go into the verses I collapse. Almost too cool and beautiful.
I so agree,, it was only recently I discovered it too, my dad played Billy Joel all the time in his white ford Capri and I never picked up on this tune until now and I can't stop playing it - so moving also to know it was written about his mam.
Listened to Billy Joel all my life and I recently just heard this song about a couple of months ago too and I can't believe that I haven't heard it sooner! I shall not waste another moment :')
So underrated
Can someone buy me a replay button? Because I broke mine.
Most underrated song from Billy - I simply love it
Here because of Freaks And Geeks and Personal Best.
THis album is gold. What the hell happened to Billy Joel? He sold out so hard after Nylon Curtain album that I lost interest in him and just play his early work
last Thursday Darren deVivo WFUV played this song during his late night show around 11:40 as part of Throwback Thursday last Thursday it was 1978 they celebrated
This should have been a hit. Listen to the power of Billys voice. Top shelf upper tier.
So am
I to understand correctly that Billy Joel’s mom was Cuban???
The Joels are a German Jewish family who escaped from Nazi Germany, in the United States, where Billy was born. For a while they lived in Cuba, when the island was still under the aegis of the U.S. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billy_Joel
@Alessandro Civiero I did not know that Billy lived in Cuba. I know he played there in '79.
great song
Amazing artist BIlly Joel
Hands down my favorite Billy Joel cut of all time, and how radio missed it I will never know. Low hanging fruit.
It got airplay in the Detroit area. That's how I know of it, otherwise I really don't care for Billy Joel.
"Personal Best" 1982.......
This song is the type of song they play on a mono sound stereo at a dead mall in Florida
He wrote this for his mother Rosalind
This guy, billy Joel, is a certified genius. Coming from one genius to another.
Never noticed, but "52nd Street" is a GREAT album! I always loved "Glass Houses," so I never noticed this one.
this album was huge back in the day.
Dak Lamerbusch , this won the Grammy for best album of the year in 1978!
@HowToDoItDude I was born in '87, so I didn't know! 😉
Launching rockets in the grass.
Beautiful track from an awesome album!!
Maureen . . . Freaks&Geeks
thank you freaks and geeks for introducing me to this song
We are still in tears. Puerto Rico
I broke all his albums at that time. Has the soul that is unique as we played alone in NYC. Love to see him.Can I get tickets.
play the west coast
this song makes my soul calm
How could a piece this great have been so under-rated and so underplayed on the radio? smh
Radio was becoming quite formulaic about that time....We're still suffering from that today.
Frank C. Come hear it on the Yacht Rock Show https://anchor.fm/theyachtrockshow/episodes/The-Yacht-Rock-Show-Nov-8-2019-YachtRockShow-w-Capt-Eddie-Ganz-e8smdu
This is the lesser known "Just the way you are"
I liked it.
