Joel, Billy - Los Angelenos Lyrics
Los Angelenos
All come from somewhere
To live in sunshine
Their funky exile
Midwestern ladies
Drivin' sleek new sports cars
With their New York cowboys
Hiding up in the mountains
Laying low in the canyons
Goin' nowhere on the streets
With the Spanish names
Makin' love with the natives
In their Hollywood places
Making up for all the time gone by
Los Angelenos
All come from somewhere
Cuz it's all so easy
To become acquainted
Electric babies
Blue-jeaned and jaded
Such hot sweet schoolgirls
So educated
Tanning out in the beaches
With their Mexican reefers
No one ever has to feel
Like a refugee
Going into garages
For exotic massages
Making up for all the time gone by
Hiding up in the mountains
Laying low in the canyons
Goin' nowhere on the streets
With the Spanish names
Makin' love with the natives
In their Hollywood places
Making up for all the time gone by
Los Angelenos
All come from somewhere
It's so familiar
Their foreign faces

Joel, Billy Los Angelenos Comments
What a genius!
My goodness if they have this show recorded then RELEASE it!!!
Interesting he had Rod Stewart in mind for this one.
Non ci sono parole, nessuno sarà mai più come Piano Man ,da giovane era stratosferico ... Talento ritmo musicalità
In tutti i tipi di musica le sue performance sono il massimo Piano Man is The Best
shout out to guitarist David Brown, who doesn't get much mention.
This is fucking brilliant..
I love this song 😍❤
One of the most underrated Billy Joel songs.
a real gig 🤟...
Russel Javers and the other guitarist look like Han Solo and Luke Skywalker lol
i love him so much in this song!!
Favorite version of my favorite billy Joel song! Absolutely electric.
I love the live version of this. Shawn R., Mo-Mutt Music
Dave Brown had such a great style on guitar , and ability
What kind of electric piano is that?
This song was sung in the day when most Californians were from
"other places". So much for the "stereotypes"!
This is one of my all-time favorite songs. Inspired me to moved from Wisconsin to California.
It is truly a Hidden Gem
Rick Brockel The whole message of Billy’s song was that California was a shallow, obnoxious place filled with shallow, displaced midwesterners.
I think you got the wrong message from it bud! 😆 Hope you’re having a good time wherever you end up, both states are gorgeous.
One of his underrated gems and one of his most rockin tunes for sure. Liberty was the best.
Billy at his peak.
When Los Angles become Los Angelenos.
The things I've missed *shaking my head sadly* Oh, to have been there .....
Liberty DeVito, the reason I love drummers.
His enthusiasm makes you feel joy
oh god!!! One of my most favorite from the streetlife serenad
As a native Oregonian, there is nothing sexier than someone making fun of California and Los Angeles
And yet so many won't leave Los Angeles.
RIP bassist Doug Stegmeyer
You were killing it, Billy! Much respect!
Another hidden treasure!
Back when Billy had a set. Great rock n roll
outstanding writing. one of the masters.
at 2:59 i love billy, bug-eyed and hammin' it up like none other
He had a smoking rock band behind him
Seriously though, that's something I can't get across enough. The piano man puts on an intense show. You go to see Billy, but you get floored by the people that he shares the stage with.
Yes - wow such energy
I'm sorry, but Dan A is right... this clip was culled from the concerts recorded for Songs In The Attic in 1981... you can tell by the band and Billy's hair (which was a lot longer in 1974) The original studio version was on Streetlife Serenade in 1974, but this is not that version.
What a COMPOSITION
I've heard this song countless times, but it never gets old! The groove and vibe of the song is so potent. And the lyrics are so hysterical and cutting and spot on! The band of Cannata and DeVito and Javors is also so ridiculously tight and loose all at the same time! I can't be more effusive! Joel's catalogue is vast and the little hits that nobody talks about are some of his brightest gems! CET
That was an awesome post my friend I couldn't have said it any better!!!! And just on a side note, I grew up literally 8 blocks from his mother's house
SRSLY WHY THIS SONG IS NOT CONSTANTLY PLAYING EVERYWHERE IS A MYSTERY TO ME AND YES I AM YELLING AND YES I LOVE THIS VID IT SLAPS
words and music gota put this in my top 5
What keyboard is he using? Rhodes? Trying to find the right patch for this one on mainstage.
wurlitzer
this is his best band
why haven't I heard this? NICE!
Probably because you're too young... But very hot though! ; )
Rob C. 77 or maybe before? I am 56 so i remember
YOU'RE ALL FUCKING WRONG! It WAS originally released in 1974, but on Streetlife Serenade!
You suck
Rod Stewart sucks.
This is my absolute favorite Billy Joel song. Such a great groove!
Yes. :)
He wrote this song for Rod Stewart to sing (he had his voice in mind) but was to intimidated to present it to him.
Amazing Live Performance. The synergy between Billy, Lib ,& Richie is Magical. Miss These Guys.
oh my god, you where wrong 3 times in 1 sentence.
No prob :)
*DERP* Right year, wrong album... thanks for the correction!
Actually this is from "Streetlife Serenade"
This song was officially released in 1974, however this performance was recorded in Sparks, NY in 1981.
The song itself was released in 1974, on the Turnstiles album.
Definitely not 1974. This is from Songs in the Attic in 1981 but an amazing performance nonetheless.
Don Harrison actually it was 1981
