Joe Jackson - Friday Lyrics
Lazy Gilly was a flower child
All the summer
Calmly running wild
She'd be silly and her friends just smiled
Pass the bottle
What went wrong
She don't care no more
She don't need to fight it
She don't care no more
She gets paid on Friday
Cooler weather it's not cool to smile
Pretty colours
Going out of style
Once you clock in
You'll take any shit - all right
Ain't that right
She don't care no more
She don't need to fight it
She don't care no more
She gets paid on Friday
Monday morning
Friday's far away
Pray you'll make it
It's a magic day
Bells will ring and you'll go out to play
Spend your money
Pass the bottle
Friday rules
Friday rules OK
Ain't talking 'bout Monday
Ain't talking 'bout Tuesday
Ain't talking 'bout Wednesday
Ain't talking 'bout Thursday
I'm talking 'bout...
She don't care no more
She don't need to fight it
She don't care no more
She gets paid on Friday
She gets paid on Friday, Friday, Friday...

December 1979, Ulster hall Belfast. Best gig of my life. Joe and the band were sensational and I'm not exaggerating. Despite an injury from a motorbike crash, I jumped around with the crowd. Bring back that type of band. Where are you Joe, Belfast needs you!!!!!

What a Man----What a Song!
Graham Maby's playing lead. And the lead guitar's a bass. Throughout the whole album. Sublime.

What the music world needs now is a Power Pop revival like Joe Jackson's, "Friday".
Dennis Mazza nothing will ever be as great as him, but I have hope for bands like calpurnia
The crack musicianship with the stripped down arrangements.
mikaleno 5 how old are you?
I’m old enough to remember when calling someone a crack salesman was a compliment !!!
A cascade of well deserved praise for mr bassman but for me this has always been and remains a great guitar album...A great album full stop, of course
a bloody good time in a life time, merde a vauban,
the album is a pepit mine
Gros Bec What the hell are you talking about?
Jason Ingram ;What I was thinking too.
Love it!
Great New Wave song.
Seems like in those days, great bass players came to the fore (or maybe their treble-rich sound cut through the mix more). Bands like XTC, The Jam, The Stranglers and The Rezillos spring to mind. Graham Maby rocks.
and lets not forget Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers!!
And Elvis Costello's bass player is awesome!@Jerry Cohen
@83unsui JJ Burnel from the Stranglers comes immediately to mind as a new wave lead bass player from that period. Also Graham Forbes from Simple Minds, Peter Hook, Simon Gallup to name a few.
Graham Maby is still around and still rocking. My brother plays in a project with him every December, and says he's a great guy.
