Joanna Newsom - Peach, Plum, Pear Lyrics
We speak in the store, I'm a sensitive bore
You seem markedly more and I'm oozing surprise
But it's late in the day and you're well on your way
What was golden went gray and I'm suddenly shy
And all sneezing darkly in the dimming divide
And I have read the right book to interpret your look
You were knocking me down with the palm of your eye
This is unlike the story, it was written to be
I was riding its back when it used to ride me
And we were galloping manic to the mouth of the source
We were swallowing panic in the face of its force
And I am blue
Made me bolt like a horse
Now it's done
Watch it go
You've changed so
Water runs from the snow
And am I so dear?
Do I run rare?
You've changed so
Peach, plum, pear
Peach, plum

i shit blood to this song and this song alone
This is the best non-official video to a song ever.
‘We speak in the store, I’m a sensitive bore’ 😪🤭
incredible!
Ребят , это гениально !
Everyone I've showed this song is like "how can you listen to this??" Her voice is part of the charm, like a testament to the reckless and untamed singing of a child.
The short parts with the vocal layering were unexpectedly intense the first time I listened to this. Very interesting stuff.

We speak in the store
I'm a sensitive bore
You seem markedly more
And I'm oozing surprise
But it's late in the day
And you're well on your way
What was golden went gray
And I'm suddenly shy
And the gatherin' floozies
Afford to be choosy
And all sneezing darkly
In the dimming divide
And I have read the right books
To interpret your looks
You were knocking me down
With the palm of your eye
This was unlike the story
It was written to be
I was riding its back
When it used to ride me
And we were galloping manic
To the mouth of the source
We were swallowing panic
In the face of its force
And I am blue
I am blue and unwell
Made me bolt like a horse
Now it's done
Watch it go
You've changed some
water runs from the snow
Am I so dear?
Do I run rare?
And you've changed some
Peach, plum, pear...
Peach, plum...
The song and video are beautiful. It stirs emotions.
Hello from Tessa
Hi Tessa
they all seem so happy... so unnaturally happy. is this possible to be that happy nowdays?
I had literally never heard her music - or so I’d thought - until just now... but it was after hearing the sound of her voice that I KNEW I’d recognized it from somewhere recently... And it’s from the movie The Strangers! Liv Tyler’s character puts on a song of her’s on the record player which leads to it getting knocked /w the same part played on repeat
this is gr8.
Fucking gumball makes a reference to this song
Reminds me of Kate Bush.
It's a shame this is not on Spotify..... or is it?
There goes Andy Samberg's wifey....😭 What a truly lucky man he must be 💯💖
child like, sophisticated, innocent, sweet, passionate, reaching, deep, intellectual, striking, eccentric, surprises, unique , touches of classical , feminine , old soul
this makes me sob so much everytime I listen to it
so what happened at the end...
She's godawful
Todavía 2019
The most polarizing song I have ever heard.
This film takes me back to simplilier times
You’ve changed so oh oh oh
I can only assume the 16,000 people who liked this are def
Or like experimental and unique voices. tone in music is completely subjective. You might like the tone of a keyboard over a organ or vice versa.

LOOKs at film
*nostalgia overload*
We could've found bin Laden so much quicker if we used this song as torture at our CIA black sites.
I'm gonna beat you into a bloody corpse
Sugma Blank Such tall talk from a person who has a cat as their profile picture. The song is terrible. Deal with it.
@AGGROBERLIN615 Says the person who judges people based on their Youtube channel profile picture. Anyways I'm on my way!
@kittypie You're right that's exactly what I did. Was that meant to be an insult?
@AGGROBERLIN615 Music is subjective, especially tone. Check her newer her tone is more tame.
Essa música me emociona tanto toda vez que a ouço. Obra prima, de fato. Amo demais. ❤️
Years ago i use to recommend this video to everyone . It still holds
Quanto tempo..... pelo menos 7 anos.
This song is creepy and good at the same time and it totally catchy
One day I want to walk in a store and sing this in its entirety. I'm a four octave falsetto, I can pull it off with no problem. The harpsichord part, somebody can roll one in and help me out? I'll buy you a plum. Or a pair of peaches.
Lovely video. Where is the footage from?
Now it's done, watch it go.
🍇😭💗♥️🦁🏡
Still a classic 💞
What if Lisa Simpson hadn't gone into, "jazz".
This song gives me a really strange and strong feeling of overwhelming sadness and nostalgia although I’ve only ever listened to this song now
Probably the film
Gumball
so this is a present day singer? i saw one of my favorite singers mention her and when this started playing i was l like damn 1950s? 60s? looked joanna up she is 37..what the heck she is only 6 years my senior LOL in any case strange music but im digging it :)
She was 22 when this was recorded
I love you Joanna
This so sang by ralf of the Simpson’s
Always brings to mind Johnny Pearson's end-theme for the BBC children's cartoon 'Mary, Mungo & Midge'.
Sad stuff man. Good for having a cry though.
Now it's done, watch it go..
Man, this video blows my mind for 3 reason.
*First, the fact that these are REAL people, not actors, not a music clip, but real moments of the past, of people all probbably already dead, lifes that have come and are gone. This is pure time expressed, translated.
*Then about the song: that for some reason seems to (abstractly) deal with this exact context of time passing, things changing, histories that happening without scrip or control. How the lyrics fits so smooth with the footages. How the tune fits so neatly with the feeling of the film. The way the song were composed in a distant place from there about a different intemption.. the same about the films. and how they come to meet and fit so nicely in this art.
*And finally to the strange realization that these people, right in that momment when each films were recorded could never imagine that years in future their momments would, by chance, fit in so well with a song, in a video made posted on an inexistent tecnology at the time. Think on how they would react if they new. Think about how their naturallity at these images depended by the fact they were oblivious of what they would become after.
Lucas S. Martins cool perspective. Have definitely thought about a few of your points. Time rips. We uploaded it 13 years ago...made it a while before that.
This is creepy
The music is great, and the music video makes me extremely nostalgic
Really beautiful
I don't know why, but this creeps me out so much for some reason...But this is still a great song.
Love this song so much. Haven't heard it for years... <3
I AM FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!
sentimentality
nostalgia
This never fails to give me goosebumps. ♥️
She Sounds Like Kath Soucie.
I love this song, and I love Joanna. But this video just doesn’t work. Way too literal. “Knocking me down” over a shot of someone falling over, “Riding it’s back” over a shot of a guy on horseback, “Galloping manic” over a horse galloping and “Swallowing panic” over a clip of someone swallowing.
Joanna is much more abstract and imaginative, not so literal. Not a very creative visual accompaniment to an imaginative song by a bizarre, eccentric, sensitive and charismatic artist like her.
Downtown_Atake Sorry it doesn’t meet your artistic approval.
echopanda Did you make this? I thought this was an official video, if it’s fan art that’s a different story. Sorry about that.
Definitely fan made. Not official. We made it a long while ago. No worries, not everyone is going to enjoy it.
echopanda Got you. Sorry again. I thought it was a record label trying to market Joanna a certain way. As a fan, and as an artist you have a right to interpret her work anyway you see fit, and however it moves you and what you make as a result has its own value. It was shitty of me to criticize another artist like that.
PS I Love It
Is she going for the Little Orphan Annie and Kate Bush smashed and had a baby sound or what
The progress from this to her newest stuff is incredible. Yet, how she stays herself the whole time.. I love her.
Jesus this is awful
troye :)
oh i get where TAWOG get their inspiration from the song called "I Am Free"
or the song in the "The Weirdo" episode
The fact the Amazing world of gumball brought me here shows me that cartoons still have a lot of amazing real life inspiration and character. This song is so cool!
trying to jam to this song is so fucking hard, not because of anything shes doing, she just changes tempo so fluidly. Its amazing.
What is this about? Why does it stir me?
THIS IS UNLIKE THE STORY IT WAS WRITTEN TO BE
This reminds me to gumball And Darwin ;-;
Cuz that's what they got I am free from
Back when videos were in 240p
@echopanda, how did you choose what song to put to these videos? It's a perfect choice but how did you choose! Also you didn't just get lucky, like you were SUPER lucky, these clips are so so pure, and perfect and beautiful! And the video is put together absolutely perfectly too, so kudos.
Leah Williams we got super lucky no doubt. I really liked the song and wanted to make something for it, then came across the reels shortly after. Once I started laying the footage to the music I knew it was going to fit (for my tastes)
Thanks for watching.
and you've changed sooo-uhooome....
Like the Owen Pallet version better.
My fucking God what the hell is this ridiculous unlistenable shit
I first heard this song in 2009 and somehow the words quickly stuck with me. It touches me so deeply that it is difficult to listen to. Everybody I've ever showed the song to thinks I'm fucking weird, but it is an all-timer for me.
I also wish I was Andy Samberg.
The life that never happened. The people you love without knowing them. But know enough to know you love them
I feel exactly the same way.
I feel you
U aren't weird, well maybe. I love Killswitch Engage, Slipknot, Breaking Benjamin, etc. I love this lady, also, after just discovering by accident 3 months ago. I am weird too. We are both just intelligent guys that recognize true talent.
Same man. How are the lyrics so powerful? They’re so simple, cryptic even. But the meaning comes through crystal clear. It’s a certain bittersweet melancholy that’s impossible to put into words.
“You’ve changed, some.”
Cuz I AAAMM FREEEEEEEEE
She sounds like Patricia quinn in the original stage production of ricky horror omg
This song makes me profoundly sad.
I just can't get over the emotional sting, but also how it sounds like such an old-timey song, like if I was a kid in the late sixties or early seventies and just happened to come across it.
My heart breaks every time I hear her say 'And I am blue, I am blue and unwell".

well done
Honest question. What kind of psychopath dislikes this?
Brooklyn 99 brought me here and I feel like this is on Boyle's playlist
this is hella cringey and creepy
Stole this CD from a car like 12 years ago in Lancaster pa I secretly loved it
The worlds most desperate harpsichord. So darn good.
I used to listen to Joanna as a teen, I worshipped her music and memorized every word. I think she is amazing with producing music and a lyrical genius. Her voice I've always thought was beautifully haunting, in a good way! 😄 Thanks for all the memories, Joanna!❤️🌏🎵 P.S. I thought the video was her own music video, this is amazing visual artistry, love the humanity!
I miss you Nick.
I rekon about 2 of the 3 million hits on this track is me.
Lisa Simpson-core sounds great
D: que es esto ? Que habla en español ? Por qué tiene tantas visitas ? o:
No está mal
