Joan Armatrading - Water With The Wine Lyrics
Met him on a Monday
And he said he loved me so
Walked me to my door
Before I knew it to my living room
When he took me in his arms
Drank some whisky
Hung his coat upon the stand
That's when the music started
I heard the light switch click
I stumbled on a lost shoe
The fever's starting
This man was getting hot
I guess it's too late
But I'll know next time
To mix some water with the wine
The sun came pouring in at five
Upon my face
I felt the taste of last night's love
Upon my lips
I wasn't sure if I had dreamt it
Or had not
But there across the pillow was the face
I had forgot
That's when he said he loved me
Could be the truth this time
He put his arms about me
Fever's starting
This man was getting hot
I got no strength to make him stop
I guess it's too late
But I'll know next time
To mix some water with the wine

What a Princess. Driving around the West of Ireland in the Renault 4 with front Pullman seating. Absolute pure Magic. That was 1978.
I FIRST HEARD THIS SONG AND JOAN IN 1981 IN A RESTAURANT IN BRUSSELS. ...AND AFTER ALL THESE YEARS ...STILL FEELS GOOD TO LISTEN TO HER MUSIC.
🙏🏾
Excellent slideshow ✨ Thank you! 💋
Totally awesome! Seen her live twice, and this is one of my absolute favorite songs!
This song is made for romance, so lovely. I seen Joan perform this before Steve Forbert at an outside show in Phila. "Robin-Hood Dell West", late 70's. She blew me away, This song is heartfelt in the 8th degree. Still holds up well today.
Great beat.
She is so absolutely fabulous and so underrated!!!
Too bad there is not a video of Joan A. singing this!
she is a singer so, close your eyes, listen at her and dance. The pictures are randomly choosen.
Why are there not any more videos for this song? This video does not go with the song! No offense.
listen at the music
A very underrated musician
I can't believe more people do not know about this fabulous woman..... every song she does is good.,.,been listening to her since the late 70's , talent plus
I overlooked her for decades... till recently. This is the 3rd cut I've heard, and everything I've heard has been great.
+Fake Drummer Joan's 3rd album is AMAZING! I have loved this woman since I was a teen in the '70's and I'll never stop! Her poetic words tell our stories, her sultry voice is unmatched and her modesty the reason many people haven't heard more of her over the decades.
ohhhh yesssss! Thank you Pietro.
