Joan Armatrading - Show Some Emotion Lyrics

Show some emotion
Put expression in your eyes
Light up if you're feeling happy
But if it's bad then let those tears roll down

Some people hurting
Someone choking up inside
Some poor souls dying
Too proud to say they got no place to lie
And there's people if they hear a joke
Can't keep the laugh out of their eye
I said

Show some emotion
Put expression in your eyes
Light up if you're feeling happy
But if it's bad then let those tears roll down

Some people in love
But all they got's a photograph
How can they get it
Too scared to open their mouths and laugh
I said

Show some emotion
Put expression in your eyes
Light up if you're feeling happy
But if it's bad then let those tears roll down

Come on try

Learn to bleed when you get a bad fall
Light up light up light up if it's nice
And if it's bad then let those tears roll down
I said

Show some emotion
Put expression in your eyes
Light up if you're feeling happy
But if it's bad then let those tears roll down

Come on try
Come on try
Come on try
Learn to bleed when you get a bad fall
Light up light up light up if it's nice
But if it's bad then let those tears roll down

If it's bad then let those tears roll down

I started listening to your music at age 14 for the 1st time and have never stopped. And then you came to East London SA. That tour was meant for me. My prayers were answered. If only I could spend 1hr with you just to chat- not even sure what I would say but it's my dream. When you came to EL my daughter had just done a back operation but she could not miss the concert, she was in pain but very happy to be in the same room with you.

  23. D.... ....

There has never been a voice like Joan's. What a pity that Radio 2 has pigeon-holed her as "folk".

    R.... L....

Thank you,saw her in Toronto ,mid 70's(?). Probably this band, great concert !

  40. e.... g....

Saw her in concert, she was awsome !!!!

  41. E.... W....

She's so shy and reserved when she's talking to the audience, but then she sings and plays and that amazing voice comes out :D

  42. A.... ....

i'm going to see her soon at the dartford Orchard-I saw her at the Hop farm a few years ago and she was fantastic-i've always been a massive fan

  43. t.... g....

Joan's talent is beyond compare.  I hope to see her in concert in Los Angeles 2015.

  44. b.... ....

I saw her a couple times back in the day... what a majestic performer!

  45. P.... G....

She seems so uncomfortable in her intro...then she NAILS it!

    P.... G....

I get the feeling that's she's just joking around in the intro. Just judging from the "hurt" look in her eyes when it seems nobody knows the words, and then she laughs two seconds later at a band comment. The English are natural understated comics. But maybe I'm wrong.

    P.... G....

+Patrick Gavisk big sufferer of stage fright

  52. B.... 1....

    Classic and just brilliant!

  53. s.... ....

  63. s.... s....

Yeah... I don't know the names of the guys in the band, but who cares? I mean, to play in a band like that with a singer like that - is a blessing to a musician (NOT fame or whatsoever - only the music really matters)

  64. s.... s....

    AMAZING!!!
My dad was a fan of the same-titled album. I wish I showed him this vid before he passed away...

  65. j.... ....

  70. i.... ....

@carkees1: I'm 44 and My mom played Joan's stuff a lot. She is so talented...Very cool.

  71. n.... ....

    an artist

  72. G.... ....

What a fantastic bunch of muscians.

  73. G.... ....

Whatever happenend to these wizard musicians?

  74. S.... B....

This really shows what an amazing singer, performer, artist she is ... people should be covering her songs - honouring her.

  75. V.... ....

Joan is one of those obscure and very underrated talents that come along once in a blue moon. I have been following her since the mid 70's and have seen her "live" more times than I can count. Never disappoints and she always has a top notch band backing her up. So tight! Just saw her about 2 years ago for the first time in about 20 some odd years and she definitely has still got it. Loved everything about her shows.....one of those rare artists that are so much better "live" than on record.

  76. j.... ....

When i was about 15 I sat outside festival hall in brisbane Australia listening to her ,I didn`t have a ticket but still really enjoyed it and the amount of pot smoke wafting out of that hall was enough to get anyone stoned
I did see her in later years and it was awesome ,I love he eyes in this video she is so cute

  77. G.... P....

Wow, how can you possibly *not* "show some emotion" after a performance like that?!

  78. M.... K....

    Amazing keyboardist!

  79. J.... ....

Loved this song the first time I heard it back in the 70s.Love Joan Armatradfing.

  80. T.... ....

Brilliant combination of a good song and great musicianship - I had the album when it first came out on vinyl - remains very special

  81. s.... ....

an amazing and original talent, thanks for posting it

  82. P.... W....

    feel free joan? singing mate:)

  83. A.... ....

Mothers Finest - the band you mean ? Oh yeah they are brilliant too !

Do you by any chance know the names of the bandmembers that are playing with Joan ?

    Regards,

    Alex

  84. A.... ....
